Re: Nintendo Switch Sports Gets More Leg Strap Functionality In Free Update Next Week

The Sports titles are still competently made. Golf, Tennis or Strikers I can play a full game alone or with friends and have fun, the free DLC releases help bring me back to the game when my attention is brought elsewhere (I buy a ton of Switch games). But I didn't play Strikers and get the feeling they are trying to sell me digital card packs, or it had a tacked on unnecessary Campaign, or it ran like garbage (those last three are all digs at Madden). To me to call a game as uncomplete is when its buggy, crashes, difficult or impossible to even finish a round of Golf. But all the sports titles, look beautiful, have solid controls and if you don't go in with a pre-determined negative attitude about them can be a lot of fun.

They benefited that the other two systems decided to launch in the height of the chip shortage and couldn't get enough consoles on the shelves to sell. They did benefit from the pandemic as well being the only company not only keeping systems available for purchase but also releasing big first party titles. But evidence shows that pandemic was not the only reason for this Switch's massive success. Prior to the pandemic and after the height of the pandemic the Switch still sells crazy numbers of hardware and software

After playing Breath of the Wild it was of no shock to me that it could play Skyrim. In terms of technical achievement Breath of the Wild is far more complex, sound and designed. Skyrim is a game often praised but aged like a warm glass of milk, it was built on an ancient, even 10 yrs ago, engine that make everything seem out of date almost immediately.

If it wasn't for Fallout 76 people would still blindly believe in Bethesda, thankfully 76 and Starfield's reveal has helped bring people back to reality.

I think Nintendo should adopt the DLC plans of all the other AAA publishers. Release your game for $60 or $70, release 5 versions for a various amounts of money up to $350 for a giant collectors copy without a copy of the game. And then have microtransactions coming out of every pore of the title.

But no you are all right we should yell at Nintendo for releasing with some call uncomplete titles, and doing the free DLC approach. I can't wait for the Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 chart:

Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 Standard Edition (I hope the box says this) - $70

Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 Digital Deluxe Edition (Comes with exclusive pre-order bonuses and part 1 of the Season Pass) - $99

Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 Digital Ultimate Edition (Comes with exclusive pre-order bonuses based on the store you bought it from, the full Gold Season Pass (all three parts), and a digital artbook) - $130

Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 Master Sword Collectors Edition - Comes with a mass produced 1:12 scaled Master Sword, a special Switch carrying case, a leather bound 4x6" artbook, a coin, a copy of the soundtrack in a cardboard sleeve, a cloth map, and a steel case for the game. No copy of the game included - $249

Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 Sheikah Slate Collectors Edition - Comes with a mass produced 1:12 scaled Master Sword, a 1 out of 10,000 statue of Link and Zelda, a special Switch carrying case, a leather bound 4x6" artbook, a coin, a copy of the soundtrack in a cardboard sleeve, a cloth map, and a steel case for the game. No copy of the game included - $349

Some of us interact with friends and family in the real world. In my case we often meet up as a family a couple times a month and love to play games like Mario Strikers. At Launch did it have everything we needed to play a full match of goofy Mario soccer, yes it did. To me that's a successful, fun product. Are they adding free DLC, yup and it didn't make me feel scorned that they are doing this but happy they are bothering you add anything at all.

That majority is still buying the game despite for weeks leading up to release saying they wouldn't. So if you want Nintendo to change show them by not buying the games you don't like. Sadly I think you'll find out the majority of their customers are not crazy diehards but rather just run of the mill average gamers who enjoy fun games.
