Re: Review: Sonic Origins - A Fine Collection For New Fans, Less So For The Hardcore Sonic Crowd

"There’s good reason why so many Sonic fans remember these games so fondly (and perhaps a little longingly), and that’s because these games really got what Sonic is all about. No overwrought stories and bizarre self-insert characters here, just a blue dude with a ‘tude who fights an evil mustache man to save a bunch of animals and, eventually, the world."
Disagree here. What I think the games fundamentally are about are that Sonic controls like a ball, that can roll up and down etc. and has a certain momentum and way of moving. That's the core of the gameplay and what makes the games fun. It's also what all the post MD Sonics (other than Mania) get wrong or miss, at least the few I've played.

Paper Mario #1, really?! Hahaha. Glad it is apparently worth a lot of money now though...
Anyway, other than that, a good list.
I would have:
1. Resident Evil 4
2. Metroid Prime
3. F-Zero GX
4. Smash Bros

Also good but missing: XIII, Warioware.

3DS was a big disappointment for me after the brilliant DS. I got the original 3DS close to launch, which was a waste considering there were basically no good games then. I only bought a handful of games... actually Mario Kart is the only one I even remember buying and that was a very underwhelming Kart.
Never mind the gimmicky 3d, which in fairness you can turn off if you want, it felt so uncomfortable to hold and the d-pad was entirely useless.
The only Nintendo console I regret buying... even the Wii-U I don't regret, but 3DS I do regret.

As someone who has a N64, GBA, GameCube, DS (Original and lite), Wii, 3DS and Wii-u, I will not buy a Switch. I would like to, but I’m not willing to throw money (and time) away on Joycons that don’t work. In no circumstances would I buy a Switch lite. At least with a regular switch you can use another controller when the joycons break. Nintendo has simply gone too far for me now.

Also, don’t expect Nintendo to fix the joycon drift on any Switch Pro. Nintendo can be relied upon to disappoint when it comes to things like this.
