No way. This is the wrong decision and part of the reason why the WiiWare / DSiWare was seen as inferior to other online game/app stores. I don't understand Konno-san's argument either. If the developer/publisher chooses to sell the game for 100 3DS points rather than Nintendo choosing to sell it for 500 3DS points what's the issue? Maybe that is the issue. Nintendo can control their profit. Although surely they lose out because more people would buy something if costs less!
The Club Nintendo points system in Japan is separate to that of the systems in the US and Europe. You cannot register Japanese games or systems on the European system and vice versa.
The Nintendo page that this news article is sourced from states everyone will get 750 stars for registering the 3DS.
No, I believe you have a 3DS. I don't believe you've registered it for Club Nintendo points based on the fact that I've had games and hardware before the retail release dates and registering on Club Nintendo didn't work for any of them until the morning of the day of release.
I'm going to a midnight launch. I was going to hang around but now I won't. I've had games early before and tried registering my Club Nintendo points at just gone midnight and they didn't work.
I don't believe FangedFreak has registered a 3DS already on Club Nintendo.
I've still got my copy sealed in my drawer at home. I'll open it if the UK release is finally official. If it gets canned then it may stay sealed for all eternity.
£60?! No thanks. Quite happy with 480p on my TV. Games looks absolutely fine and I thought SMG2 looked stunning. Of course 1080p looks better but there's nothing wrong with 480p. At least, there isn't on my 37" Plasma.
Hopefully it will win at least one award. I'm not sure the soundtrack will win because it's pretty much recycled stuff from the previous game isn't it?
It infuriates me. It's clearly a ploy by Nintendo to keep the little extras that their customers waste. I don't see why else you would do it, surely it's more simple to have one central user system with one pot of money, rather than have three pots (Wii, DSi, and now 3DS). Whatever, Nintendo.
What about unused Nintendo Points vouchers? Would I be able to redeem those on the eShop?
200 points means you need five games to get a thousand. If you wanted 7.000 points for the bag, you'd need 35 games. That's around £1,000 of actual money (assuming the average Wii game is £30). You can register for bonus stars if you buy the game two weeks from release. So that could shrink the requirements down to 28 games or £850 ish quid!
Hmmm, I like the bag, but it's not worth 7000 stars. They still have the Zelda statue available. Might try and save up for that.
I first started collecting stars when Gamecube was launched. Back then they didn't expire so I had 10s of thousands of points. Now they start expiring I save up all my cards and use them at once when I see something I like.
It's annoying you can't register two Wii consoles. I paid for them, why can't I collect stars for them?
Definately getting Nintendogs+cats and SSIV3D. Now that Pilotwings has been announced I'll be getting that and I've heard great things about Ridge Racer 3D from those that went to the events. Four games though. That's a lot of cash!
I hate football but I really want this. Damn you Level 5 making any game enjoyable! I'm so annoyed that you can't buy it from anywhere other than Gamebasement. They have the preview video on the Nintendo Channel and shortly after that it was removed the Nintendo UK website. I want to buy it from Game so I can get my reward card points!
There is/was a video of this on the Nintendo Channel last week. I'd like to know if it is coming out - I've on other websites that it's suspected for only certain markets in Europe. Hmmm, as it's a Level 5 game, I'd love to get it. It's not very authentic football so that's also a plus!
@48. Yes, Team Ninja did ruin Metroid Other M. The gameplay is fine, the way the story is told is not. Completely not in line with any previous Metroid game. I understand that that was the point. Give it a different team to create a different spin on the franchise. But they failed at that. If you ignore the FMVs though, it's a great game!
Also, I will not buy DOA:D. I might have done if Samus was going to be a playable character though.
The PSPgo was a rip off. But that was old tech, which reduced the number of games you could play while charging you more to play them. That's why that failed.
It's not really the cost of the 3DS itself that bothers me. The US have it at $250 before tax. So in UK money, that's £156. If we take tax of the maximum retail price of £230, we get around £195. So the difference in cost is that price of a game.
Which leads me onto what I think is the problem. The price of the games. Many retailers in the UK are listing games at £40. This is the cost of a home console game. I'm used to paying £25 for a DS game. An extra £15 for each game will make a serious dent in the amount of games I buy for this system. It's simply too much.

Re: 3DS Helps Developers Render Fog Effects Via Its Own Chip
@2. This this better because it means developers have an easier time, quicker development, cheaper costs.

Cut the Rope? Video games are doomed.
Re: Hands-On: Hori 3DS Compact Pouch
I want a hard case. Hopefully they will release those to the UK.

Re: Kirby, Your New Game Deserves Better Than This
That's a shame. Still, I got the game this morning so hopefully the sales won't be as underwhelming.
Also, is that a knitted condom on the source link? Last image. WTF!?

Nice. Hopefully Steel Diver won't be too far behind for the EU, although it's not showing as a pre-order anywhere.

Re: Here's the Dates for Nintendo's Nationwide 3DS UK Tour
No Birmingham. I'm sure the last few Nintendo events have skipped Birmingham if I remember rightly.
Also,it's only five weeks. I can wait that long for my "virgin" play of the system to be the release date.
Re: Current Nintendo Points will be Useless on the 3DS
You'll be able to use your credit card on the shop, but this will be to buy points to then buy the games.

It looks like he's just stuck a "Nintendo Power" sticker on it. Horrid. No way worth $1,200.
Re: This Zelda GameCube Controller is Awesome in an Ugly Way
What you've not put on this news article is the awesome box it would have been sold in. Take a look at the Kotaku article which shows it:

@trikxy £42? Where from? Gamebasement.co.uk are selling it for £28.99 with free delivery.
Re: Proof that Inazuma Eleven Really Is Out in the UK
OK, I succumbed to my poor willpower and purchased it from Gamebasement. It better be the UK version now or I'll be cross!

How do you work that out? The store has to make profit of more than £6.00 per console sold!!

This is nice. If I had money to burn I'd get one of them. But I already have SMB 25th Anniversiry DSi XL and I'm getting the 3DS on release day.
