@ModdedInkling Don't think it's meant to be anti-consumer. Probably more to do with future-proofing their online infrastructure and pushing on with the Nintendo Account system for future hardware/software, rather than keeping compatibility with the old. Cost is a factor but (I think) it's more to do with just wanting to do something new and investing the money elsewhere.
I wasn't at that Download with Billy Idol but Nintendo had a similar thing the year after. Went in there whilst on our way to the second tent to see The Prodigy.
Was just a white tent with Apple-like demo stations/tables with DS Lites attached to them from what I remember. There was a stage but no idea what was going on.
The current £20/£30 yearly plan lacks value let alone the expansion pack having poor value. Especially for those that have been paying for it for the past 3 and a bit years.
Somehow two (low tier) NES games every 6mths doesn't cut it.
There's no excuse for any of these N64 games running worse than their original releases or community emulated versions. Bare minimum is that they run exactly the same. Minimum.
Chances are that Nintendo won't get the numbers they're expecting, end up increasing the value proposition, then give early adopters some 'exclusive' content to paper the cracks like with 3DS.
If you go from the Likes/Dislikes on this and the Nintendo UK version, you're looking at about 1 in 5 people/households picking it up. And that's 1 in 5 of those already invested/interested enough to watch the video, so likely current subscribers.
That's not a good look. Marketing departments do pay attention to these things.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1
Why are you still trying to put this turd over?
Re: Review: Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 - An Extensive But Imperfect Compilation Of Classics
How can you have more cons than pros and mark it a 7/10?
If you're not reviewing this based purely on the quality of the remaster then you're just being disingenuous and misleading.
Re: PSA: Don't Forget The Meaty Downloads Required For Metal Gear Solid's Physical Edition
Why are you spinning that as a positive with that headline?

@Fighting_Game_Loser Sony won't be keeping their (current legacy) services running forever either. Let's not get the narrative twisted.

It's poor value however you slice it.

For clarity...
A little too high, in my opinion - 37%
An absolute rip-off! - 43%
Re: Nintendo Leaker Suggests Pricing Of Switch Online's Expansion Pack Could Be Tied To "Licensing Costs"
Licensing costs justifying the price of the expansion is irrelevant; The value proposition just isn't there. It's saving grace is that it is optional.
