Surprisingly, Apple's Lightning accessories work with the Switch via their USB-C to Lightning adapter. This combination doesn't even work on Windows. Interesting add by Nintendo. https://youtu.be/k3v5oyKpiy0
@hypercoyote Agreed. I just wanted to point out that it's not a double negative....an eShop download only key that also requires you to have the cartridge. It's something else.
The difference here is that you'll be able to re-sell these. So it's an improvement in that sense. (Not saying I like this over a real physical game, just pointing out an improvement)
It's not a "way off" from the PS2's 160 million, and I wouldn't say it's "unlikely" that the Switch will pass it. Not sure where this cynicism is coming from. The Switch only needs to sell 10 million more to beat the PS2. Get that Switch Lite down to $99 in the next year, and it becomes an impulsive buy for parents.
The GameCube and Wii weren't as different as they look on the surface. The Wii is essentially a GameCube Pro with motion controllers. It could play GC games, had GC memory slots, and supported GC controllers. Heck, there were hundreds of native Wii games that you could PLAY with GC controllers! They really are brother consoles, and in some ways closer than the Wii and Wii U were.
Nintendo is not going to announce a new console in 2023 for a 2024 release. That would kill their Christmas quarter sales. The only reason they did that with the Switch is because the Wii U was dead; announcing the Switch then wasn't going to change Wii U Christmas quarter sales. So that year was just the mad, mad rush to replace the Wii U.
The Switch sold 3.2 million units this past quarter (from 111.1 to 114.3) not 6.68 million. The later figure is what the Switch sold over the last 6 months. Nintendo does some tricky reporting every quarter, usually giving the grand total of the Switch sales, and then giving out the sales figures from the last 6 months. It's up to the press to do the math, but they rarely do, reporting the 6 month sales figure as the quarterly figure.
@steventonysmith Nintendo hasn't taken any steps. This is a 3rd party solution that is being offered to developers. We don't even know if Nintendo will allow this, or use it themselves. A press release by Denuvo doesn't mean this will even ever get used.
@rex_rex They'll pass the Gameboy and PS4 after the Christmas quarter. Passing the DS will totally depend on a revision, a "Switch Pro" or something that's counted as part of the same family. Otherwise, yeah the Switch will not hit DS numbers.
The Prime games have taken place between the first Metroid game, and Metroid II: Return of Samus. Assuming 4 is also in the earlier years, I don't see a new direction, with lots of Space Pirates and Metroids still around.
"Critically, things improved in 2017 when Nintendo returned to Metroid's 2D roots with a remake of Metroid Prime 2. Simply called: Metroid: Samus Returns"
@MetroidBoi13576 Better re-read what I posted, dippy. Metroid Prime 3 was originally developed on the GameCube. It was never RELEASED on the GameCube, as they shifted it to the Wii and created the motion controls for the game. As I stated, there is an early build of it you can find online that you can play in the Dolphin emulator (as it was written on a GameCube dev unit which had more RAM than an actual GameCube) only. Next time, do your factcheck before you reply with ignornant statements.
Not buying it. Does this guy forget that Metroid Prime 3 was built on the GameCube with standard controls? There's a build of it on the internet you can play on Dolphin.
The Wii's best global sales was its 4th Christmas quarter in 2009, with over 11 million. The Switch is currently in its 4th Christmas quarter. The Wii sold around 3.5 million in the quarter before its 4th Christmas quarter, and the Switch sold 6.8 in the same. Doing some quick math, that means the Switch should sell around 21-22 million this quarter. That won't happen of course, but 15 million sounds reasonable.
I made the recent video with the SNES Mouse working on the iPhone. Ironically, I couldn't get it to work with this game on the Switch. An off the shelf USB Mouse worked fine, but not the SNES Mouse with the USB adapter. It's odd for sure, as the adapter makes it a standard USB Mouse. Not only worked on smartphones, but my TV as well. I added a powered hub, and tried the USB-C port directly, but still no luck. Shame.
The price is right. Let us remember, the 3DS launched at $250! They quickly had to reduce that. $199 will eventually drop too, but not right away. Unlike the 3DS, the Switch is already established.
@Bondi_Surfer It's not a dumb idea, and most games don't use the Joy-Cons like your example. It's coming, it will be huge, and sticking your head in the sand won't change that.

Re: Switch Sales Pass 139 Million, Will Be "Main Business" Heading Into 2024, Says Nintendo President
@Dazman No. Even if the Switch 2 comes out at the end of the year, the OG Switch is still Nintendo's main business going into 2024, as stated.
Re: Talking Point: What Will The 'Switch 2' Actually Be Called?
Super Nintendo Switch. 100%.

While Computer Space was made by Nolan, it was not an Atari game. In fact, it came out in 1971, a year before Atari was created.

Re: Random: Nintendo Rejected Samus Voice Acting In Metroid Prime For Being "Too Sexual And Sensual"
I'm not aware of Samus having any dialog in the Prime games. She has one or two sentences in Dread, but in Prime? Certainly not 1 or 2.

@Zyph No reason to assume that. Retro knocked it out of the park 3 times before...they will do it again.
