Nintendo's Wii U "Launch window" is defined as the period beginning when the console is released, and ends on March 31, 2013. We've trawled through the information we have to provide you with the following details of confirmed launch day and launch period games; where necessary we've indicated a specific region. Nintendo itself has stated that it's "too early" to provide a definitive launch day list, but we'll provide updates as we get them.

Looks like Europe miss out on a number of first party games during the launch window...
Lego City:Undercover is a first party game?
@3Dash Nintendo are publishing it, TT developing I believe!
Oh. That makes sense then. Well, looks like a great game anyhow.
Playing Mario at launch yes!!!
Apparently Darksiders 2 is confirmed for launch day.
http://nintendoeverything.com/index.php/98837/darksiders-ii-confirmed-for-wii-u-launch-exclusive-content/
Trine 2, Rayman Legends, Batman, Assassin's Creed 3, NSMB U, Game & Wario, Pikmin 3 for me.
Possibly Zombi U, Nintendo Land, Mass Effect 3, Lego City Undercover, Wonderful 101 later on.
That's a ridiculous amount of games for a launch window. Let alone for a HD console.
@tealovertoma And I don't see many stinkers either... this has to be one of the greatest launch window game line-up's I've ever seen for a console.
I'm thinking LCU, NSMBU, and Nintendo Land because it's bundled with the system. They all look great, and I can't wait to play.
Does anyone else think that for $299-$350 there should be some sort of built in game?
^The built in game is Nintendoland, because who in their right mind would buy the White console?
I guess there's still no confirmation on how much any of the games will cost? I'm particularly interested in NintendoLand and Trine 2. The former because there's a Wii U without it, and the latter because it's currently available on PSN for $15. I know the Wii U version comes with the new DLC, but it doesn't seem like that would even double the value of the Wii U game. It seems to me it should still be priced below $30. Also, how about Batman and Mass Effect 3, both of which are currently valued on the PS3 and 360 at well below full retail?
@bahooney: People who don't want Nintendoland, realise you can get 32 Gb extra for about $15, prefer white and are skeptical about Nintendo's premium service?
You can also spend the $50 on a 500 Gb hard drive.
Any details on Game & Wario?
In case anyone missed it on the cheat sheet that popped up during the nintendo direct, Europes launch day titles are
Fifa 13, Mass Effect 3 ,Nano Assault Hero ,New Super Mario Bros. U ,Nintendo Land, Rayman Legends, Trine 2,Toki Tori 2, ZombiU
@tealovertoma
It's redundant. Anyone who is going to spend enough on Wii U DLC/eShop games to need a 500GB hard drive would be better off getting the wii u premium version, so as to have the 10% discount on eShop titles.
There's some great stuff for sure. I have to say I'm very happy today that Nintendo has proven me wrong. I thought once again I would be further disappointed but I'm now very much on board with this machine. Don't know when I'll buy one but it's gone from a possible distant future purchase just for NSMBU to a definite buy.
Mario, nintendo land (With the Deluxe bundle) and rayman at launch for me.
It seems like no matter how many answers Nintendo gives us there are always more questions to be answered
Dates and prices and retail vs. DLC. Most of these will be answered by other companies in the next few hours or days I'm sure.
For the time being i have NSMB, Lego City Undercover, Rayman, Pikmin 3 and Scribblenauts on preorder from Zavvi
However, Rayman and Lego City and NintendoLand will do me fine
@Linkstrikesback
So, buying an SD card for $15 is a better option for those people. Also, your statements depend on the price of Nintendo Premium, as well as file sizes of the games. I was just giving an example of what you could do with $50, since people seem to think $50 for 24 Gb extra is a great deal.
@Mahe: They showed Game & Wario at the Japanese conference, but no new minigames were shown. Dunno if there's any other details.
GOD DAMNIT WHERE THE FRANKINCENSE IS PIKMIN 3 FOR THE UK???
Just a few games at launch for me.
I'll have to check some of these out, later today.
#11 - Trine 2 is download only, I'm pretty sure it will cost either $15 or $20, definitely not $30.
I should say: that's one heckuva software launch window lineup ya got there, Nintendo! And that's coming from someone who hasn't owned a Nintendo console since...well, never. (I went with the Genesis!) I've always stuck with Nintendo and their handhelds, though. Wii U smells like a success to me...
Are the games all $60?
I'm going to feel like such an idiot paying £50 for ME3. It won't stop me.
@tealovertoma: So who in their right mind would actually fit ALL of those requirements? Personally, I wanted the black machine in the first place, so the fact that it comes with more storage, a game I wanted to buy anyway, and a special service all included for only $50 more seems like a total no-brainer.
@ArmoredGoomba: No, some of them are $50, or even $40 (Rayman Legends and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed are respective examples according to GameStop's pre-order list).
I have already reserved my Wii U Deluxe at my local GameStop, along with NSMBU and Pikmin 3.
Pretty good launch lineup IMO. Rayman Legends FTW.
Possible Pikmin 3 boxart!! Next to "Hot games for WIi U" http://www.gamestop.com/wii-u#WiiUGames
Well, Black Ops 2 is sure to sell some systems!
@stuffgamer1: Me. Well, I don't think Nintendo Land will be worth $50, so I'm waiting to see what the advantages of premium are. I've already pointed out you can get way more storage for $50, so yeah, it all depends on premium for me.
(Also, the difference in the UK between the two versions is like $70)
@tealovertoma: Could do worse, though...GameStop's now listing Nintendo Land for $60 by itself. If you want the game, you want the Deluxe system...period. Thus far, I'd say Nintendo Land looks to be a more interesting and worthwhile title than Wii Sports was, too...so I wouldn't pass it up either way.
If I decide I need more storage, I can get that as well. But I had to go with the Deluxe system nonetheless. Plus if the extra storage is built-in, it may be useful for storing Wii downloadable games, which probably won't be able to run off an external hard drive in the same way that DSiWare games can't run off the SD card in the 3DS. Pays to be prepared, anyway.
Looks pretty sweet to me. I hope Batman Arkham City is a launch day title or at least before Christmas. I also thought Trine 2 was confirmed to be available at launch but maybe i'm wrong.
In that list above, there are 14 titles I'm seriously interested in. No pap.
Game & Wario, Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, Monster Hunter 3G, Toki Tori 2... pretty nice-looking launch.
@tealovertoma Until the system launches, we won't get to see whether USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 or any other myriad types of external hard drives or solid state drives are effective or even function properly for in-game saving (for offline AND online games). SD or SDHC cards could be better or be the only option for external in-game storage; or none of the above may function as well as the built-in memory, such as this 8GB vs 32GB device... And what IS it, exactly? A chip? A card? A removable piece?
I hate to say this with how much I love the Wii U so far, I'm gonna hold off awhile and see how this system fairs first I have a PlayStation 3 and I don't think the leap, for me, is something I wanna take, especially since PlayStation 3 has about the same as this system, but has alot more games available to buy. I think I could see myself getting Wii U just after the launch window (just after March 2013), but for now, I think I'll just stick with my sorta out-dated PS3
from reading the comments are you saying nintendoland is packed in the system and not in a sleve case like wiisports? disk wise i mean?
I'm super excited for 007 Legends!
Nano Assault Neo?? Man, yet another reason I'm gonna have to get a WiiU
No metal gear?
New Super Mario Bros. U
Does anyone know why Pikmin 3 is North America only for the "launch window"? Just wondering. I live in NA so it's not a problem, but I am sure the Eastern crowd loves that game as much if not more than the Western crowd.
@Boo_Buster
The game is not complete. It may not be done by Wii U's launch, so they list it as Launch Window.
It's so surprising how many games I either strongly want (Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends, Wonderful 101, etc.), or am interested in and going to closely watch (Game & Wario, Toki Tori 2, etc.). I'm 24, and I'm not saying I'm going to get LCU, but you can't watch the trailers for that game and deny the amount of effort obviously being poured into it. Another game I'm watching.
@Stuffgamer1 Exactly how I feel
In the graphics department the Activision games previewed today looked terrible. Looked like Wii titles that didn't make a deadline... so they got bumped to the Wii U. Really pathetic.
Mario U, Zombi U and Rayman look like guaranteed fun.
@Koto - No lol my bad. Sorry I might have worded that a little vaguely. It says Pikmin 3 - Nintendo *North America. Does that mean it is only coming out in North America for now? I don't understand
If I can scrounge $60 before November 18th, I'll definitely get ZombiU first! Well, after NintendoLand in my Deluxe Bundle!
I prefer only New Super Mario Bros. U.
I like internal storage I think external SD cards take to long to load.
My shopping list:
Wii U Deluxe (Nintendo Land)
New Super Mario Bros. U
ZombiU
Rayman Legends
Game & Wario
LEGO City: Undercover
Pikmin 3
Wii Fit U
Epic Mickey 2
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
Oh my.
I wonder if Nintendo land will be available to download off eShop? I'd buy the DX version and DL Nintendo land and sell the retail version
This is what I'm getting.
Wii U Deluxe + Nintendo Land
New Super Mario Bros. U
Rayman Legends
Game and Wario
Pikmin 3
Epic Mickey 2
Rabbids Land
Runner 2
Scribblenauts Unlimited
Skylanders Giants
Sonic and All Stars Racing
Toki Tori 2
Mutant Mudds Deluxe
Ramen for dinner until March 2012.........
^^^ Especially Pikmin 3
Oops got ninjad
Kind of not really XD
Forgive me if this was mentioned already but New Super Mario Bros U and Nintendo Land are included in the premium, black Wii U bundle, right?
Nano Assault Neo is an amazing surprise! The graphics in the trailer are incredible, way better than 3DS game.
@BlackFira: You're trying to ask if it's a disk or on system memory/download code, right? As far as I know, it's on a disk...not sure, though.
@Bones00: Nintendo Land is in the bundle...NSMBU is not.
Only Nintendo Land is in the Deluxe Wii U bundle.
@3Dash @Stuffgamer1 Thank you for clearing that up as I thought I heard/read the bundle came with NSMBU too.
@Stuffgamer1
thanks i believe its on disc as well the comments made it confusing
Soooo... Pikmin 3 and MH3:U are the only titles that really interest me there. and of course Bayonetta 2. Maybe I'll pick up a Wii U sometime during mid 2013.
I see Epic Mickey 2. Does that mean the Wii version is canceled? It wouldn't surprise me!
Also Wipeout 3, published by Nintendo! It may not be F-Zero, but it may do for now!
But the biggest question: How much will it cost? Hopefully no more then 50 Euro! Nintendo, don't forget that we Europeans are in a crisis! The reason that 3DS games sell so bad in Europe is because most people think 50 Euro for a handheld game is to much!
I thought only Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros U were confirmed for NA launch so far.
@henmii sorry but that wipeout 3 is not the racing game you'd want. Unfortunately its the third in the series of total wipeout tv series console games apparently.
I preordered the ZombiU pack on amazon.co.uk at £329.99. So that is a Wii U Premium Pack, game pad, pro controller, NintendoLand and ZombiU + accessories. Considering the normal Wii U Premium Pack is £299.99 I'd say ZombiU and a pro controller are worth the extra £30.
Too bad DMC won't be on the WiiU :/
That's a lot of games for Launch WINDOW, sure, but the important part Nintendo usually misses is launch DAY.
But they seem to be getting it nailed this time. Sure, a lot of these are ports. But they've got Rayman Legends, NSMBWiiU, and (if it's really good like I'm hoping) ZombiU as good launch exclusives. That's a huge step up from 3DS.
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate?
My wallet "will be ready" in 2014 or 2015, when i'll find the console for less than 150 euros, and titles like Rayman Legends or Bayonetta 2 (and i guess, many more) for less than 15 euros in a second hand shop... THAT will be a good deal...
Definitely not a bad value here with NintendoTVii. I'm interested in learning more about the premium service. I would rather spend the extra money on games (plus I like how my white wii sticks out in a sea of all black under my TV). Depending on how long the "plus" subscription is for, it may definitely be worth the extra $50.
I'm looking at Game and Wario, NSMBU, Pikmin 3, Zombie U, Sega and Sonic all stars racing, and Raymond legends. Nintendo may have just convinced me to buy at launch (though, after the 3DS fiasco, I wouldn't be surprised if there's no shop or NintendoTVii service at launch. Given how little they had at E3, this could still turn out to be rushed).
Has NL posted that new TTT2 video showing of the new Wii U modes and costumes? If not, they totally should.
@Token_Girl I think the subscription is for two years.
I want the White, but my fiance wants NintendoLand and a Black GamePad. Soooooooooooo...... But my first game will DEFINITELY be ZOMBI U!
ZombiU, Pikmin 3, Aliens, and MHTU for me!
Game I care most about: Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate!
Of course I want the 1st party games... But I'm still so aggravated about the name. So terrible, and confusing... Most people I know still think its just a Wii add on
007 Legends!!? What is that? sweet!!!!!
Guess Dragon Quest X won't make it during the launch windows.
Rayman Legends is confirmed for America launch? Sweet.
Pikmin 3, NSMB.U, LEGO City: Undercover, The Wonderful 101, Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate, Nano Assault Neo, and Nintendo Land... 7 Games I know I will be getting, yeah, I imagine those will be enough for the rest of the year. (If most of them come out before the end of the year.)
Already pre-ordered NSMBU, ZombiU, Rayman Legends, Assassin's Creed 3, and Nintendoland bundled with the console. I am good with my launch games!!!! Still wanna get Darksiders 2, Lego City Undercover, ME3, and COD:BO2 but that will have to wait a little bit longer.
I'm thinking The Wonderful 101, Pikmin, Scribblenauts, Epic Mickey, and Toki Tori. I'm curious about Warriors Orochi. IGN gave the PS3 version an 8.5, saying it was great. Anyone have any opinions about it? It's classified as "Action" but does it also have some RPG elements? I'm a sucker for anything which even remotely resembles an RPG. Big Xenoblade fan here. (Would also probably be a Last Story fan if my Wii's disc drive hadn't died before the game was released. Looking forward to picking it up when I get the Wii U.)
Underwhelming.
That's a lot of games at launch, some of which are really stellar titles.
I actually think there may be stuff missing from this list. Remember that game Sniper Ghost Warrior 2? It was leaked via an ESRB rating. It's made by City Interactive, hardly the greatest company as far as quality & reputation, which is even more reason to believe that other games from smaller companies may not be on this list!
Also over here in Australia, EB games has basically placeholder boxes for confirmed games yet amongst them is Need for Speed: Most Wanted. They may know something because it's hard to believe they made up just one game!
Having a Mario title at launch is a good sign. I want Monster Hunter and Tekken Tag too.
Just curious, since the Wii motes work with the Wii U, would arcade sticks work as well? I have the Hori Arcade stick for the Wii and I was hoping to use it for Tekken Tag.
10 titles I see out of that list,I'd like,I need,I want.
Did anyone see one not exactly Nintendoesque title? I mean on the list i see Wipeout 3 and Nintendo as a publisher but if I remember correctly Wipeout is a first-party title from one of Sonys developer;p
So what's everyone plumping for?
I've stuck a quick pre-order in at Zavvi for the ZombiU bundle along with NSMBU and Rayman Legends. Two epic 2D platformers on release! Fantastic stuff.
@Chrno-x Unfortunately, it's not the high-speed future racing game we'd all like, instead it's a probably lousy take on the TV show 'Wipeout' where people get balls thrown at them. Trust me, I'd like nothing more than to have Wip3ouT on Wii U, but there's pretty much no hope of that.
Low price (not $400+ like people thought) and awesome launch games= Buying asap :3
Has there been any mention of what Retro Studios are working on?
I did not know about lego city:undercover!!!!!!!!! Everything I know is a lie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
People are disappointed by a lack of a Mario 3D HD or Zelda or Metroid title..but hey, comparatively I think the launch lineup is actually pretty strong compared to other launches.
On paper, Nintendo are trying quite hard to cater for everybody despite not having an awful lot of software ready themselves.
Rayman Legends, Pikmin 3, Epic Mickey 2, Scribblenauts, Sonic & All Stars Racing (New Mario Bros. if we're being generous imo), I mean those are the sort of games that appeal to everyone. I would buy 'em for my kids at launch if i had kids:) Those games are looking superb..
It's a really solid launch...plus I really want Darksiders 2, Wonderful 101 looks great, and even 007 Legends (despite somewhat underwhelming graphics) will be worth a look. Zombi, Assassins Creed 3 , Fifa 13 and then Monster Hunter....
Most launches suck. You only have to look at Wikipedia to see it. This one, while not brimming with knockout exclusives is looking very very solid...
OMG, I'm already hearing reports that the new Sonic Racing for Wii U has a bad framerate, that's why I didn't like the Wii version...
Wow. That's a TON of games. People have a lot of choices, even just days/weeks after the console comes out.
Going to be picking up NSMBU for sure. I would like to also pick up a few others on that list but it will depend on how much money I have to spend towards games and the stores availability of games.
Wait... so those games with the "* North America" text are not confirmed for the launch or launch window? Not even the Wonderful 101 or Pikmin 3? :/
Wow, the European launch is terrible. We get NSMBU, CALL OF SHOOTAN: BLACK SOCKS 2 and Fifa as our main games? What about Pikmin 3? The Wonderful 101? Other good games? At least we get Rayman Legends to soften the blow, but Nintendo really made a poor launch for Europe. I blame the people who only play sports and shooting games.
Where's Xenoblade Chronicles U?
@Metal_Slugger
I just saw that on the WiiU guide -thanks! That definitely makes the Deluxe version the one for me. I don't buy that many downloadable games, but even without including retail downloads, I'll make back at least $50 worth with games 10% off.
I'm reading through GameStop and Wikipedia that Rayman Legends comes out December 4th in NA. Since it's a European launch title and the date is close, I guess NA doesn't get Rayman Legends at launch. As for Sonic Racing, all versions come out November 20th, so I wonder if it'll release early for us or just on the following Tuesday.
Clears throat and instructs wallet to cover its ears:
Wii U premium bundle with Nintendo land
Sonic&Sega ASRT
Rayman Legends
Pikmin 3 (launch window in Europe surely?!)
Wii Fit U (what's the price with balance board. Old one battered)
NSMB U
Trekken TT2
Wonderful 101
Epic Mickey 2
Game and Wario
Scribblenaunts Unlimited
Tank Tank Tank
Later maybe: Panorama View? Lego City Undercover
Injustice.
Don't think Marvel Avengers or Rabbids Land look that good from E3 footages Nd trailers....
Downloads: trine 2 , Nano Assault Neo, Mutant Mudds Deluxe, Toki tori 2
10. LEGO City Undercover
9. Nintendo Land
8. ZombiU
7. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Wii U Edition
6. Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
5. The Wonderful 101
4. Rayman Legends
3. Epic Mickey 2: the Power of 2
2. New Super Mario Bros. U
1. Pikmin 3
No Pikmin in launch window for Europe???
Got to have Wii U!!! Must get about $250.00 and idk how!!!!!!!
Gotta say when I seen Wipeout 3 listed I was thinking it was going to be the game released by Psygnosis on the PS1 back in 1999, but remembered that the company is now defunct by Sony.......
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BUYZTBeS6s&feature=plcp
@PeterW77,
You are kidding, right?! Ah man, that sucks!!
Got my console on preorder, getting Zombiu day 1. Then AC3 soon after. Then there are the maybes... Aliens CM, Black Ops 2, Marvel, FIFA 13
wait. pikmin 3 will be available at launch or not ? its so unclear right now. its listed in, but ive read it wont be available.
it was my number 1 choice for the system launch...if its not there welll...dammit !
mario bros U then...as long as its a 2 player game, its fine. but pikmiiiiin T.T
I have heaps of good games on Xbox and Pc (Skyrim, Halo, Assasins Creed, Call of Duty, ect.) but no matter what anyone says my best times have been with Mario and Zelda...
