Retail deals that drop the price of Smash Bros by $20 and yet .... NOTHING ON ESHOP?!
What gives Nintendo Eshop? You keep a higher portion of sales proceeds, there are no disks that can be traded afterwards, yet you want to rip off customers by charging them amounts that are over market?
I'll be picking it up. With the game pad it is likely the best version going.
For those being hard on Ubi for a later release, I'd just point out that Wii U's architecture is different than the others, so it DOES take more time - and we may get benefits from that!
@MoonKnight7 Sorry if you misunderstood. With 2 spots in the house to play (both have large screens) they'd be played more often as there is more availability (ie. when someone is watching the other tv or playing on the PS3). Just the fact that it is easily accessible increases usage.
@LunaticPandora True - but I like the digital convenience, and its a stupid work around for Nintendo, as they end up making less $. Not only do they charge more in their store, they don't incur the same costs of selling through retail.
On this count, Nintendo is stupid. They need to fix this.
Nintendo ... this is all nice, but what we need is the ability to have digital games tied to and account, instead of hardware. Love to buy another Wii for downstairs, but I'm not going to pay twice for the same games. If i bought another Wii however, we'd play it a lot more as a family and buy more games.
Cathousemaster said "... have a thought for us: because the classification costs in Australia are so high, we are not going to release the game here at all. So I'll never get to play or show this to people on my WiiU "
Now now now ... just do what we Canucks do. Set up an alternate ID for another country and buy the game there. Really stupid that we have to do this, I know, but I find myself doing this because I get 20% off Nintendo eshop cards in the US.
I'm having a great time with my 8 year old daughter playing this game - we both get annoyed at each other taking the other's pollen - now if we can just get through that darn desert part!!
Really .... a bargain and I was VERY surprised how good it was, and how much my daughter got into it. Great game for parents to play with kids - all equal.
You want me to buy more from e-shop? Than keep the commitment to allow my Nintendo ID to be used between machines. You are pushing me to disks, which while slightly less convenient, are FAR more less costly .... and don't prevent me from having two Wii U's in my home.
Have they disconnected the Network ID from the hardware yet? Isn't it about time to give us real network IDs so that when our hardware explodes we can replace it without losing all our software purchases, Nintendo?
Seriously, I'd pick up another Wii U if the same account applied. As it is, I feel ripped off by E-shop pricing, and the disks work in multiple machines.
"but there really has not been a game that really takes advantage of the gamepad"
Deus Ex makes GREAT use of the gamepad to the point that I prefer it on the Wii U. Someone else mentioned Rayman Legends, and I've heard that Assissins Creed IV makes great use of the gamepad. Come to think of it, so do ZombiU and Nintendoland.
The gamepad is great. Nintendo just needs to pay advertising dollars to ensure that the AAA franchises are brought across to the Wii U.
Single smartest thing Nintendo could to would be to pay significant cash in terms of joint marketing for AAA titles, to ensure they arrive on the WIi U, and that people see the features available on Wii U (The gamepad is great for those games)

It would be nice if there was a video gaming museum.

There go my hopes of playing Donkey Konga again
Re: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Release Dates Confirmed
@ToxieDogg Ahh crap. I had forgotten it was on that mini-disk. Guess I'll have to hope they release that in their virtual console library.
Sure it won't work in Wii mode?
Re: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Release Dates Confirmed
Will the GameCube controller adapter work with the Donkey Konga bongo drums?
Re: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Release Dates Confirmed
I've never played Smash Bros., so a couple questions to the aficionados:
1) Do I need a game cube controller to play?
2) I understand it is a fighting game, but what exactly makes this game so popular?
Thanks!
Re: Latest Wii U System Update Allows Console To Console Data Transfer
I currently run two Nintendo IDs. Does 5.1 mean I can transfer one of my IDs and related software purchases, to another Wii U system?
Better yet, can I easily transfer between systems at will (ie. buy a system for basement tv and move games down there when I'm playing there?

@Sleepingmudkip More like Sony wants to sell its gaming division to Nintendo ... who can actually afford to purchase it.

@Emblem The attach rate at MINIMUM exceeds 5 per unit. That isn't bad, and it's climbing. My personal attach rate is probably 25+

Re: Wii U System Update 5.0.0 Now Live, Adds Quick Start Menu And GamePad Notifications
@MoonKnight7 I also didn't mention the other reason that games should be tied to an account, not hardware. Faulty hardware happens.
I'm far from the first person to want this from Nintendo.

@jbrewer99 Your daughter should love it - mine did. You play with her, and its cooperative, which encourages them.

Got this and it is great fun. As a co-op game I'd give it a 8/10 without hesitation.
Play it with my daughter, and with girl's it is really great - loves to see the gardens bloom and grow.

@GooRoo The way the Nintendo ID works, I can't say I blame you for wanting a physical copy - unfortunately.
