Re: Metroid Prime Dev Retro Studios Pitched A Zelda Game Called 'Heroes Of Hyrule'

@Not_Soos it would explain why the hero on that tapestry in BotW has Ganondorf's red hair. And why someone who in OoT tries to convince Hyrule that he's friendly shows up using a name that practically has "evil" right at the beginning; if the suffix -dorf means something like "opponent of", then Ganondorf means "Ganon's Opponent", and it's not a huge plot hole, but a bit of braggadocio instead.

So Ganondorf was the first hero, gifted Power by Hylia, but becomes corrupted by it, so Hylia, who can't just take it back, chooses a new champion and gifts him with the only element that can oppose Power. It's a neat little narrative, really.

@invictus4000 "This one has time reversal mechanics in it, and i think clocks are cool, so it's totally going to be named 'Breath of Skcolc' because i totally understand how words work."

If this were a Square Enix game then "Breath of Duality X-II Double-Triple Undoing of Ages Redux" wouldn't be unbelievable, but it's not going to happen here. I know there were the "Oracle of" games, but those were planned as contemporaries, not sequels.

It's just a rubbish name for so many reasons; Repeating "Breath of" makes no sense unless there's a shared breath mechanism in both games, otherwise it doesn't establish continuity it just creates ambiguity and dilutes BotW's trademark.

If Nintendo wanted to create continuity between the games, they should choose a name that's similar, without repeating elements. Before the second trailer, i thought "The Depths of Malice" would have been perfect: it keeps the X of Y structure, includes a slightly punny connection (breath/breadth and depth), and highlights the role hinted at in the first trailer for Malice in ganondorf's resurrection. Distinct name, but thematically linked.

"Breath of Duality" is just gibberish.

@lat297 Ikr? Lol, but seriously, I wish people would use full terminology first, followed by the acronym or initialism, before using the abbreviated version by itself, especially when addressing general audiences or anyone who wouldn't know what the acronym means. It's one thing Elon and I agree on; acronyms should never be used if they might make understanding more difficult or slower
