@somebread its not just shattered mem, though admittedly that game irks me. i genuinely think this coulda been a really great feature. it was however written by someone with, obviously, no passion for the genre. wish it was different.
How hard would it have to be to include eshop, stuff like starship damrey, or escapee go? No, the writer picked and chose from the few games she's ever heard of and set parameters around that.
Could have been an awesome feature. Only have a full year to write it lol.
NintendoLife, do you want me to spend five minutes and give "constructive feedback" here or will you just delete that as well? I understand the writer here is young and uninformed... really don't know how basically saying "nah, you don't know enough and should have done more research, or played more games" is not constructive. Oh yeah, fee fees.
Didn't even include all systems, let alone represent some of the best in the genre for the ones included.
@faint Nah, Calling is a better game. Night of the Sacrifice, Fragile, Manhunt... even Obscure 2 and Bug Island are literally better games. Shattered Memories is a God awful fanfiction. And that's just scratching the surface of what's wrong with the Wii part of piece alone.
@BeefSanta I don't make my living writing for a children's game site, but if I did I'd be ashamed to have this article represent my knowledge and capabilities.
Cartridge based emulator lol. Think the point of these things is convenience. It looks cheap and I wonder if the product would have been better had they not dedicated funds to paying Nintendolife to shill this every other day.
You decided to pick your special knuckles up off the floor and type out "the game would have ruined Valve" which is hyperbolic at best. Derr.
At worst it wouldn't have been as profitable as the par for their current business model. It'd still make good dosh and please countless fans soured by their restructuring.
@Trajan Uh... Catacomb 3D? Wolfenstein 3D? Maze War? Deus Ex? Build Engine? And plenty of others that are more important than (lol) Call of Duty. Hell, Faceball 2000 was more pioneering than MW.
@JasmineDragon I enjoyed it a great deal. Much better than the 3DS one which was very flat. Don't know if I'd say it's as good as 1 or 2. It did improve the visual style of the series imo.
@Shambo 2 bucks?! I'm sorry but you sound extremely spoiled. Not sure how you have 150 Wii games without dipping into shovelware, pretty sure that's impossible. Mine topped out around 75/80 and even then I was buying a few less than stellar games. I stopped because that's about all that were worth owning.
@SteveF I believe they lost the code for this and Zwei too which is why they're being made from the ground up - which is also concerning because what made these some of the best games ever was above all else, basically perfect gameplay. Probably harder to eff up Saga than the original 2.
Oh word, had it on steam, I thought this was square enix's best offering of that generation. Been contemplating playing it again on PS4 - glad I waited
I was there! It was an epic panel, Suda is such a genuine human being, so nice to talk to. Wish more Switch owners bought this - but now more people get to enjoy it so it's a good thing. He also said he'd ask about porting the first 2 to switch when he got back home.
Pretty sure I've bought the original like 3 times and never played more than 30 minutes. Every time I tried I just couldn't get in to it. I'll give this one a shot though, looks like a more finished game from the trailer.
@Edu23XWiiU Making money maybe idk, but they aren't making games. Batting cages, pachinko, and card games killed Castlevania, MGS, Goemon, etc... not lack of quality. Order was the next evolution with the town hub and quests, that was a huge addition and hopefully there's some of that fleshed out even more in Bloodstained. Judgement was never going to be more than a forgotten product of the time, probably not the best idea though.
@sfb Zeno Clash is one of the most unique games out there. First person brawler almost like punch out meets Turok and stylistically doesn't LOOK like anything else I've ever seen. Brilliant team. Need to give Abyss Odyssey another go, and I'll check out Horizon Chase too, thanks.
@Edu23XWiiU Horrible comment. Those we're all perfect/near perfect games. Never remotely approached "this is getting old". Just kept getting better and more refined, and all had enough differences to shake up the game design and play style between them.
Somehow there were only 2 Lords of Shadows releases and that felt stagnant 5 minutes into the 1st game.
Is your assessment true of all the other IPs Konami took to the grave with them? Gee, I wonder what killed those too? Couldn't have possibly been horrible business.
@Itzdmo Never had any issue with stereoscopic 3D in my life. Movies, Virtual Boy, especially not 3DS which worked great. Labo VR is like looking at a 3DS screen point blank while drunk and spinning around in a chair however. Feels bad, physically, mentally... spiritually.
I like how I can't get past the second sentence without reading an inacurate account of history. Atari 5200 shipped with an analog controller like 13 years prior.
@carlos82 Dude the experience is basically what you get when you trip acid and stare point blank into a CRT monitor except it makes you nauseous. Cannot recommend. I might try Zelda for a few minutes since I already got the setup, but no way is it more enjoyable than the game in HD. Loved the 3DS stuff but this is not good lmao.
@Wavey84 Man I'm not sentimentally attached to any game boy system. Simply stating there are more than twelve (12!) good games on it and it should not be considered with the likes of VB.
In regards to Labo VR, I played it for a couple hours last night and it made me genuinely depressed. Like I was stuck in a blurry clown world I'd never want to visit and all I wanted to do was go home. Went outside and thanked God himself for irl.
@Wavey84 GBC was not mind-blowing I guess but had some great games like Metal Gear Solid/Ghost Babel, Samurai Kid, Return of the Ninja, Wendy and Shantae, that one Grandia game, Revelations (megaten), Power Quest... pretty sure there was a Goemon game on there too and some real quality ports like Rtype DX, Magical Chase, Crystalis to name a few. Also Wario Land 2 and 3 were both Color exclusives iirc, though VB Wario Land is probably the best in the series imho. Add those (and others) to all the first party Nintendo stuff and it was a -really- good a system... on par with standard GB probably but not as good of a library as GBA, I think.
@Wavey84 Just because you're unfamiliar with the GBC library isn't an excuse to post something so insanely ignorant (and I am a big virtual boy fan, but dawg it had 12 games lmao).

Horror is such an important and influential genre that I guess I'm just disappointed that the majority of it is lost to most.

Proving my point.
