Re: Reminder: The Mario Tennis Aces Pre-launch Online Tournament Begins Today

dleec8

I've had fun with this game so far, but both of my online matches suffered from occasional lag that caused me to miss returning the ball to the other player. Nonetheless, the polish and fun that Camelot was known for regarding Mario sports games appears to all be present in their latest tennis offering.

Out of my 4500 gold coins that I had accumulated, I just used 3000 to pre-purchase this game for only $29.99. It turns out Wario was on to something when he went all in on gathering as many gold coins as possible - they come in handy!

Re: Review: Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection (Switch)

@JayJ Super Street Fighter 2 (both versions) are known for being particularly difficult, so I see your point on the difficulty of those games being perceived as being harder than usual. I agree with you on Ultra Street Fighter 2 being the go to version if someone wants to play Street Fighter 2. It is the most balanced version with the most characters and features, and since I own it, it will also be my go to version for Street Fighter 2. I agree with your thoughts about the original SF3 as well - that is the version of the game I most remember sinking quarters into at my local arcade when it first came out, and the artwork and music in that game is some of my favorite in the entire franchise.

Re: Review: Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection (Switch)

@MagicEmperor Thank you! My heart was warmed playing this game because it's the type of Street Fighter collection I have wanted on a Nintendo console for so long, and now us fans finally get a chance to catch up on what we have been missing. I hope you get a chance to play this soon as well and satisfy that hunger!

Re: Review: Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection (Switch)

I have been eagerly waiting for this game to go live, and have been playing it non-stop since midnight here California time (for about 2 and a half-hours now - time to go to sleep and pick it back up again tomorrow). I have already played two arcade play throughs of the original Street Fighter 3, played some casual online matches in Street Fighter 3 Third Strike, and dabbled in some play-throughs of the original Street Fighter Alpha and Street Fighter 2: The World Warriors. As a Nintendo fan who was acutely aware of the lack of Street Fighter love that Capcom showed us during the N64, Gamecube, Wii, and Wii U eras, this game is like a love letter from Capcom asking for forgiveness for skipping Nintendo consoles when it came to Street Fighter Alpha 3 through Third Strike. I always wanted to play those games on a Nintendo console, and now I get to, and it is glorious! The game is loaded with background information on the Street Fighter series timeline, on the individual games, and on each character from each of the games present in this collection (in addition to a large selection of art galleries). If you have ANY interest in Street Fighter, or any interest in fighting games in general, then you need to pick up this game! I have been getting my Street Fighter fix from Ultra Street Fighter 2 the past year, and now the release of this game has my fighting game needs on the Switch met for the foreseeable future!

Re: The H-3 Nozzlenose D Will Be Covering Turf In Splatoon 2 This Weekend

The Nozzlenose weapons have actually grown on me through me being forced to use them while I am working Salmon Run shifts. In fact, there are many weapons that I never would have normally used if not for being loaned them to collect eggs. I like the accuracy and power of the Nozzlenose, which in my opinion, makes up for its lack of continuous fire. I will be adding this new Nozzlenose to my weapon load out selection!

Re: Review: Outlast: Bundle Of Terror (Switch eShop)

I would like to ask this question: If you have seen a streamer play and complete a game, are you more likely to buy that game (assuming that you think its a good game), or are you less likely to buy that game because you have already seen someone else complete it. For the sake of this question, let us assume that we are talking about games that heavily rely on the story and narrative (like Outlast) to entertain players.

I ask because I watched popular YouTube streamer Markiplier play and complete this game back in 2014 for PC. In fact, I began watching his channel because he did many play-throughs for horror games, and I am a big survival-horror game fan. Being the Nintendo acolyte that I am, I knew that there was no way this game was ever being ported to the Wii U back when it was first released, so I watched Markiplier's playthrough thinking that I would never get the opportunity to play Outlast on a Nintendo console. So to me, I was not ruining the game for myself because I never thought I would play it. Now it has come to the Switch, and I finally have my opportunity! And I also wished I had never watched him play through it now!

Even though I watched someone else play this game to completion, I will still pick up this game because A) I am a survival-horror fan, and B) I watched this game completed years ago, and so many of the horror elements in this game will seem fresh to me again. However, if I had just watched a play-though of this game within the past 6 months to a year, I would have definitely NOT bought this game since I had already witnessed all of the juicy moments myself.

Does anybody else not want to buy certain games when they have already seen someone else play through them?

Re: My Nintendo in North America Adds New Sonic Rewards

dleec8

@invictus4000 I do too.

I buy all of my games digital, so I appreciate the variety of discounts that Nintendo provides us through MyNintendo. I have redeemed and downloaded probably 75-80% of the offers that MyNintendo has featured ever since its inception.

Re: Review: Super Mario Odyssey (Switch)

Preloaded the game yesterday, and started playing about an hour and a half ago once I was finished working. Just saved the sleepy hamlet of Bonneton, of the Cap Kingom, from the continued defilement of Bowser's wedding planners, the Broodals. This game is for reals guys!! Not that I even needed to say that. The controls are tight, the environments are enjoyable to explore, the game looks fantastic, and controlling Cappy with motion controls (both with pro controller or joy cons), is satisfying. Can't wait to get further into this newest adventure with Mario! Nintendo continues to lead the industry in terms of putting out polished, well designed, FUN games, that ooze personality and charm out of every pore. The legend of Nintendo continues to grow, and their star has certainly shined brighter in 2017 than I can remember it shining since the Wii days! GO GET THIS GAME IMMEDIATELY, MY FELLOW NINTENDO FAITHFUL!

Re: Team Vampire Triumphs in Latest Splatoon 2 Splatfest

dleec8

On my way to Werewolf King, I won 24 out of 38 games for Team Werewolf (including a dominant 7 game win streak where I single handedly pulled out a few wins at the last second, including a 42.3 to 42.2 percent victory), so I know I gave it my all for my team. It was a fun Splatfest!

Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend? - The Triumphant(?) Return

dleec8

Currently employing my Tentatek Splattershot and Splat Brella in the service of Team Werewolf for this weekend's Splatoon 2 Splatfest. I chose werewolf because I would rather be a human being who occasionally turns into a werewolf than be an undead vampire who can never set foot out in broad daylight any longer. This is my first Splatfest in Splatoon 2, and I am enjoying myself just as much as I ever did in the original Splatfests for the first game! Splatoon 2 has supplanted Overwatch as my team shooter of choice!

Re: The Plug Will Finally Be Pulled On Miiverse In November

dleec8

Miiverse was great because it was a social network made just for us - those who grew up with Nintendo, and those who are growing up with Nintendo now. A lot of Miiverse users are huge Nintendo fans, and we all shared that connection with each other right from the start. There were many nights where I came home dead tired, got in bed to play some Wii U, and browsed Miiverse before I went to sleep. I loved to post screenshots of the game I was playing, along with a witty comment, or something funny about what I had captured on screen. I loved to scroll through the different communities and see what other people were playing, or what cool drawings others had come up with. Most of all, I loved that Miiverse was a social network where we all (mostly) had a love for Nintendo in common. Facebook cannot replicate that, and neither can any other social media platform that Nintendo wants us to use alongside their games. I will dearly miss Miiverse, and I really wish that Nintendo had introduced a new social media network that was dedicated to all of us Nintendo lovers. What are we to do now? RIP Miiverse!

Re: Project AM2R Creator Earns Job Working on Ori and the Will of the Wisps

dleec8

@Dr_Lugae I feel the same way you do. Its like if there was an artist who became famous because he "reimagined" the masterpieces of other established artists and recreated their works. Instead of displaying his own brand of imagination and creativity, and his own original work as an artist, he advanced his career by "reimagining" the work of a true master (Nintendo). Don't get me wrong, it takes a certain level of skill to produce the work that he did with AM2R. But to put the guy on a pedestal and give him all of these accolades when he is essentially guilty of plagiarizing his life's work strikes me as odd. You don't usually get rewarded for plagiarizing, but he certainly did. He made a cool fan game, but it was well within Nintendo's right exert control over the franchise as they see fit.

Re: Take-Two "Very Optimistic" About Switch, Expects Sales To "Continue To Be Great"

dleec8

And then in true Nintendo port fashion, the Switch version of WWE 2k18 features only one game mode: A one versus one basic match where the player controls John Cena against a generic wrestler opponent.

Fun and jokes aside, I hope both of these titles are fun and more or less full featured, although the only game I would be interested in picking up would be NBA 2k18.

I have not owned a wrestling game since No Mercy for the N64. That game was so deep and customizable and fun to play! Not only was it a fun pro wrestling game, but the fighting system was so well made that it basically doubled as a fighting/wrestling/grappling/MMA game. No Mercy for virtual console would be a no brainer in terms of the hype it would generate. No Mercy for Switch, make it happen please!

Re: Poll: The New Nintendo 2DS XL is Out This Week - Are You Tempted?

dleec8

As a lifelong Nintendo fan who has owned every main console that the company has offered, and who owned every handheld up until the GBA SP, I shamefully admit that I have never owned any of the DS family of systems! That changed today, as my beautiful new 2DS XL was delivered to my home. Along with the system, I picked up Super Mario 3d Land, Animal Crossing: New Leaf (Welcome Amiibo), Kirby Planet Robobot, and The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes. I also had a handful of download codes from the humble bundle deal a few years back for 3DS games that I had previously never been able to use (due to not having a 3DS), including Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition, and Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure. I am already eying picking up one or both of Hey! Pikmin and Miitopia, and I am definitely looking forward to Ultra Sun and Moon, and Metroid: Samus Returns, later this year.

I may have been late to the 3DS party, but I am going to enjoy my shiny new system, and its extensive library of quality titles, for the
foreseeable future!

Re: NBA 2K18 Shaquille O'Neal Special Editions Coming to Nintendo Switch

dleec8

I have not bought an NBA game for a console since NBA Live 2000 for the N64 (which featured a very young Tim Duncan of the Spurs on the cover). I remember loving that version because EA had actually paid to have Michael Jordan available to play as in game. I am a big time basketball fan, but its been a long time since I have bought an NBA game. That will change with the Switch version of 2K18!
