Re: Capcom Intends To Continue "Re-Activating Dormant IPs"

You would have to think that it’s a safe bet that we’ll see a brand new Ace Attorney game launching soon?l as part of this strategy?

The remasters/bundles have done very well and really brought the series back into the light. A new starting point would do incredibly well.

I played through both of the earlier Switch remakes over the past month. As a fan of 90s PC adventure games they really clicked with me. The tweaks to modernise that I found in the demo have been great base level improvements. I know this has a niche audience but as someone who has loved the remakes I’m really happy with what has been shown so far in the demo and can’t wait to get dug into the rest of the game tomorrow.

Granted I’ve only played to the end of chapter 3 but the systems have been modernised quite a bit compared to the original remasters. Tbh the system improvements were what jumped out at me as the biggest improvement. The originals felt far more like 90s PC adventure games while so far the menu system seems to follow along with a more logical approach that doesn’t require spamming every option.

Still getting my way through the Apollo trilogy. Just about to wrap up the second game today and then onto the DLC case before Emio drops.

The Switch is really firing on all cylinders for visual novel/adventure games this past year or so!

Love the new updated graphical style on these two games. Feels closer to the update given to Apollo Justice rather than the hit or miss one given to the original trilogy.

I played the first two Famicom Detective Club games over the past few weeks. I’ve already preordered on the eShop and can’t wait to get stuck into it.

I’d be cautious about the direct comparisons to Ace Attorney. It’s got more of a 90’s pc adventure game flavour than those titles. That said if you like visual novels you’ll most likely enjoy these. They are genuinely some of the best looking visual novels and the stories of both earlier games were really outstanding.

Re: It's Official, 3DS And Wii U Online Play Ends 8th April 2024

Glad I have an extra Wii U and New 3DS XL that I’ve modded. Pretendo Network are hoping to be up and running for the April shutdown date which will hopefully allow online functionality to continue.

A modded Wii U comes highly recommended. It basically gives you the full history of pre-Switch Nintendo home systems in a single box. Plus if something isn’t on virtual console you can add it via the VC injector program. I got my extra Wii U for only €50 from facebook marketplace. Good deals to be found.

There is no doubt in my mind that Twin Snakes is the version of MGS1 that holds up better in raw gameplay today. As much love as I have for the PSX original the quality of life and graphical improvements in TS make it a much more enjoyable game in 2023.

The fact it’s a straight port rather than a remaster that could be botched like the GTA trilogy has me hopeful. The Digital Foundry review will be the deciding factor as to whether it’s worth picking up. Will be holding out on that before making the purchase.

The 360 backwards compatibility version on Series X is astoundingly good. Great art design means the higher rez and solid frame rate almost act as its own remaster. If it takes the same approach for these versions it has every chance of being great!
