Oh my. I haven't been bothered by the Wii U really. Next gen graphics. Aren't all consoles now "next gen"? Tablet. Interesting but I' have my 3DS thanks. NFC... oh like skylander stuff. Okay.
No wait... you can collect geeky statues like the character from Rayman or the dude from Assassin Cred that do stuff in game... I think it tripped a switch in my brain and now my geek collector instinct has gone boom! What a neat idea and the potential is hugely geeky!
I would too. I don't carry around multiple games, so if I had them downloaded instead, it'd be a better option for me. Also would cut out one of the last advantages of using a flashcart (as in having many of your games on one card).
@JimLad I think you have a point, but I think it's also something of a begrudery because of the Wii's runaway success and bringing in all the "casual" gamers to the hobby. "Hardcore" gamers look down on the Wii and subsequently Nintendo because of it.
I loved the AR idea and the potential seems missed complete. I had imagined being able to buy a board game and then using your 3DS to play on top of that. Like a real time strategy game, directly controlling pieces or even a action game where you're a helicoptor shooting zombies. Or if you play DnD and having a battlemap and using your 3DS to view and control the battles... of course none of that seems to have materialised at all.
I wonder will the patch bring other fixes with it too. I haven't managed to play MK7 online since I got it (I tried every solution online that I could find).
He also said on twitter: “The Wii is a toy, not a console.” Because obviously the definition of a consoles excludes fun, god forbid a game is enjoyable.
Colors! 3D - finally. Can't wait to download it. I spent so much time with the homebrew version of it on the DS.
I'm assuming "the 3d machine" is the same one that was free a few months back? I don't think I'd pay for it to have it permanently. But perhaps that means there is a chance of longer paid-for content coming?
Also to note, as someone that isn't a casual gamer nor a true "hardcore" gamer, now that I have my 3DS, I haven't played or used my Wii since. It's become our Netflix player for the TV. So I think graphics/power is vital to the experience. If you're going to have an RPG on the system, beautiful visuals are a must and people will compare between systems.
I think no matter what the Wii U is going to be an uphill battle. I love my 3DS and think it's an amazing upgrade to the DSi, but all my fellow gamer friends (who would consider themselves hardcore gamers) dismiss Nintendo anything out of hand. The meme has been set in place with the overwhelmingly amazing success of the Wii as a casual gaming platform, that nintendo is for kids and casual players. The Wii U, IMHO, must equal or outmatch the next crop of consoles in terms of power so that it can't be dismissed out of hand. A new controller, while I think is certainly interesting, will not sell it unless there is a killer game behind it.
I didn't think this game was for me either - but I've played the demo so many times that I've been converted. Though I'm going to have to wait a while before I get it, it wouldn't get a look in while I'm still enjoying Kid Icarus.
@shinobi88 Isn't Kid Icarus, Resident Evil: Revelations or Metal Gear Solid 3D Snake Eater count as FPS for you?
Certainly Kid Icarus is giving me enough flick reaction FPS game playing, particularly the multiplayer which is a lot of fun.
Well it doesn't bother me... seeing I can't get MarioKart 7 to play online at all: "connection timed out" - But I guess that's a different problem really.
That's a nice little feature. I stopped play Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii because I became frustrated playing the same quests again and again to get a rare reward to get the next level of armour. Money was certainly not the obstacle.
I guess there is no chance to expanding the competition to include all of Ireland instead of just Northern Ireland? (I can't be the only NLifer in the ROI)
I wouldn't buy a new 3DS for a 6yo but I did buy a 2nd hand pink DS for my daughter's 6yo birthday.
I have a DSi myself and many of the features (the recorder, the camera, some of the DSiWare apps) are exactly the kind of thing a 6yo would love. My daughter's been eyeing my DSi since I made some mention of getting a 3DS when it comes out.
But yes, I wouldn't buy a 300 euro gaming device for a 6yo.
After reading their blog post "Problem of Faith", it's seems to be in part that their afraid that their cultural appropriation of Western religions and mythologies in their games might be offensive to, well, us.
Which is a fair point. Take Dante's Inferno for the xbox. It's completely offensive to the spirit of the Dante's Divine Comedy. Their not censoring to protect us, their censoring to cover up their misuse of our culture assets.
The other side is that they claim they can't afford multiple runs at Nintendo, so they want to try and make sure they pass Nintendo's filters in one go. I would hope therefore they would keep their self-censorship to a minimum.

Re: Rayman Legends is Coming to Wii U, Supports NFC
@LittleIrves Actually there is Assassin Creed footage for Wii U in the Nintendo TV episode this week on the 3DS. Looks pretty impressive.

Re: Nintendo Dominates UK's All-Time Top 10
@James Just checked the link, shouldn't that be Mario Kart Wii, not Mario Kart 7?

Re: Heroes of Ruin is GAME-Exclusive in UK
I wonder how that affects us in Ireland. Seeing Game has all but effectively disappeared (I'm unaware if any Game shops reopened here).
Re: Nintendo UK Launches Repair Website
Finally. When I sent my Wii off to be repaired, took a while to find the details on their original site.
Re: Mario Kart 7 To Get Shortcut-Fixing Patch

Re: Rhythm Thief Misses UK Charts
That's disappointing both for Kid Icarus and Rhythm Thief

Re: Kid Icarus Ignites 3DS Sales Spike in Japan
Does this translate to UK/ROI and European charts?
Re: Nintendo Download: 29th March 2012 (North America)
I wonder will the OK Go video come over to Europe? I wouldn't might taking a gawk at it.
Re: Nintendo Download: 9th February 2012 (Europe)
No Colors 3D! either, but new demos always cool.
Re: Nintendo Download: 2nd February 2012 (Europe)
Is the Kirby video the same as the Kirby series from the WiiWare channel?
Re: Hulu Plus Still On the Way to 3DS
What is "Nintendo Zone" with it's tempting trivia quizzes? Is that available over here in Europe?
TBH I'd be happy if they brought Netflix to us UK and Irish 3DS users now that Netflix is available here.

Re: Eurosport Video App Coming to 3DS For Free
Ah, it worked for me. Watching the clips now. Note Wadsworth constant applies with all the WATTS clips. 3D is pretty good on them.
Re: Eurosport Video App Coming to 3DS For Free
I just downloaded it in Ireland (which isn't one of the big countries in Europe). The "Connectivity Check" is however failing.
Re: Nintendo Dates 3DS Download Software for Early 2012
Looking forward to Colors! Wish I could get it on my phone as well actually.
Re: No Good at Monster Hunter? Buy Quest Rewards Instead

Re: Nintendo Download: 10th November 2011 (Europe)
Finally a 3DSWare game that I might be interesting in buying. Was kinda hoping Colors was coming soon too.
Re: Nintendo Download: 13th October 2011 (North America)
A new 3DS video downloaded for me already in Ireland but no other 3DS service updates (a new magic trick, yawn) yet.

I would or more exactly, I did.
