I found myself enjoying exploring but then the realisation dawned on me that there is really zero reward for your troubles, so i got bored after an hour or so. Stickers? You can't even put them anywhere, what's the point?!
@gavinlane there is almost a "MK64-style on-the-spot spin" option, well, more of a donut but it kinda does the job. A+B+ZR/R
I'm wondering why i didn't get an invite from Nintendo because I've been a NSO subscriber from day 1, played thousands of hours on the switch and subscribe to Nintendo emails. Anyway, just pre-ordered from Argos so fingers crossed!
Fat lot of use my "register of interest" email was at 4.20pm UK, sold out long before I noticed it. Scalpers buying 4 each and sticking them on ebay, congratulations 👏!
I'm not sure I approve of this as it will only reward people that literally sit playing for 3 days straight. No point even trying for anybody that has an actual life! Not exactly encouraging healthy behaviour.
I got the game on release date and have only played it once. I can't play until I've finished BotW and Odyssey! Don't get a chance to play that much so still going after buying those on release date too.
I had so much fun with my 6 year old on Saturday with Labo. And we only made the RC car, then spent our time creating a tennis racket electric guitar which he and my 3 year old absolutely loved. For the bigger builds I'm having to finish them myself as interest was waning after half an hour building with the little ones, but we had a good 4 hours entertainment - which is worth the price alone! Brilliant way to get them into coding too. Labo is just so Nintendo. That says it all really.
I'm a 36 year old veteran gamer with a 6 year old son and I think I am the market Nintendo are aiming at. I can't wait to get my hands on these and get creative with my boy! Hopefully will be an introduction to coding and 'hacking' (in the physical sense).
And less than 1 hour after receiving an email from the official Nintendo UK Store that they are on sale, they are already out of stock. Every online retailer in the UK seems to be sold out already. Grrr...
Having been stung by the diabolical service of the official UK store on both NES MinI and Switch launches (although I did eventually get both through the post), I was all ready to pre order through Amazon or even Game. Looks like I missed out (by being at work). Still, at least I can console myself knowing I got a NES mini, which is more than a lot of others can say. Just hope they have scaled up production this time.
@sofia1987 They just replied to my messages in my online store account. Haven't replied to any emails I sent to customer services. And I checked my account and there is no credit! Grrrrr...
Got a response to my several messages via my Nintendo store account and they have given me £14 credit on my account. Sent me the tracking details and it turns out Hermes attempted a delivery on Saturday but obviously didn't leave a message or leave it with a neighbour. Don't feel a credit of £14 is enough for the time wasted and calls and messages unanswered etc. Anyone else?
@Scamp yay mine just turned up at home apparently. Delivered by Hermes. Still no word from Nintendo though. Will be filing my official complaint now I have it.
@InternetBowser yeah that was me on here. Still waiting to hear anything. Haven't been able to chase on the phone because they don't open on a Sunday. See what happens today but I'll be at work anyway so hopefully they deliver it while my wife is at home. But not hopeful as I still have the 'pre advice' royal mail status from Friday night 1902. I've messaged them detailing my minimum compensation level expected.
When you shop with Nintendo you're buying your games and consoles directly from the people who produced them. Nobody cares more about your satisfaction than us and we'll do everything we can to ensure your shopping experience is a pleasant and reliable one." ... "Our staff members aren't just here to deal with complaints and delivery enquiries (though we do of course handle all of these), we're also here to help with your shopping experience.
Think of us like shop assistants in a high street store. We can tell you about any of our games, give gifting advice and so much more.
I still haven't heard a jot from Nintendo despite messages sent to them several times as well as the help line saying they were looking into it yesterday lunchtime. Still no sign of my Switch. The Royal Mail tracking still has the pre-advice 1902 message. So I'm GUESSING it might arrive on Monday or something, if I'm lucky. So peeved. Just no communication or even acknowledgement from NUK.
@JJ1 yep. I have the added complication of solo parenting my 5yo and 2yo sons today so keeping them occupied indoors all day while I wait for a non existent package, or missing the delivery if I go out is the added factor - so it would be lovely to hear something from Nintendo!
@nintendlife why are you not making a new article about this debacle? Anyone would think you're under Nintendo's direct control or something. You create a article on the 'reassurance' Nintendo gave in advance but have gone very quiet now that turned out to be poppycock and it's all gone horribly wrong for so many of its loyal customers. What's going on? We need you guys to be our voice on this. I still haven't a clue when my switch will arrive. Still says pre notice was given at 1902 last night. Do I wait in today or not?
I've just caught up with this thread having had the same issues with royal mail delivery and I thought I understood what had happened. Now though have the pre advice 1902 message on RM tracking and not sure whether to expect it tomorrow or Monday or what. They really have screwed up with this one.
Sounds like they learned from the debacle that was Saturday morning. Shame I didn't get to play BotW or Splatoon 2, but I did get the badge still. That was a clever way to encourage everyone to try games they might not otherwise have played (Just Dance I'm looking at you).
@norwichred if you can DM me with your address I'll post you a Switch pin badge from today (are you on twitter? If so follow me @antonynoble, I'll follow you back then you can DM me. Not sure if there's an easier way to do it!). I got 2 badges as they were giving people stamps by the end if you couldn't get to play a game because the queue was too long. So I got all the stamps, picked up a badge and then on the way out the guy on the door just handed me another one. Makes a mockery of them not handing your nephew one!
@norwichred it was incredibly busy and I hadn't thought about it until you said but they didn't check names were on the 'guest list'. I hasn't thought of chancers coming in off the street but maybe that was why it was so busy? I got turned away from Zelda 3 times too because they closed the queue and they told me to come back a hour later when it would be 'quieter'. Trouble is they told everyone else the same so there was then a massive horde of people waiting for them to reopen the queue. Madness. They should have a ticket system because you basically have to run to the back of the venue AS SOON AS THE DOORS OPEN to get to the Zelda queue or sacrifice it to play some of the other games.
I also got turned away from Splatoon because they closed the queue, only to come back part 5mins later and a load of people had just joined it anyway so I had to give up on that too as there was an hour+ wait. Didn't manage to get to play snipperclips either.
Easily got in mario kart twice and SF2 3 times but had to wait 45mins to play ARMS when there were only 3 couples in front of me. The bloke running it loved his own voice and just took to long introducing it all. Just let people play dude.
There was no organisation and lots of queue jumping and confusion as you didn't know where to queue for which game and which queue ended where and there simply wasn't enough room! Had to elbow people out the way to get through the floor.
Other than that I got a free burger which was nice and I enjoyed what I got to play. Not a great experience though overall.
Now to decide whether to pre order now or wait till I get to try Switch myself tomorrow at the hands on event in London? Still undecided at the £279 price just for the basic console. Will all pre orders be filled by tomorrow night? Oh lordy I don't know.
@Mossii the event is at Eventim Apollo (previously known as Hammersmith Apollo). And registration does indeed start at 08.30 for a 09.00-13.00 session. I thought it was wierd I didn't get a confirmation email. http://www.eventimapollo.com/venueinfo
I got an email on 23rd Dec at midday. By which time Sat PM was booked out. Sat AM it is then! 6am start from me from Birmingham, but I couldn't care less as I'm well excited. The kids would normally wake me up by then anyway! They gave me the chance to book either 1or 2 tickets so I only booked 1. I guess the latest invitations were a second batch of ones leftover from people like me who only booked 1 or couldn't make it at all.
The original Nintendo Magazine System was what I grew up with back in the SNES years, and when the magazine relaunched in 2006 I was so excited to relive my youth! The Wii reinvigorated my love for gaming and I stuck with it, buying every issue from 1 to 114. So sad to see its demise.
I really want to know how many people got an ambassador edition and was hoping this vote might tell me that. Nope! Put mine under white version and looks like that's not a very popular option so I'm guessing not all that many did get one?
Just ordered mine. Some of the comments on here about the screen size tipped the decision for me as I was planning on getting an XL version, having had a standard 3DS since launch, but I'm convinced this one will be just right now. And I just have to have those coloured buttons too! Special ambassador edition is a nice bonus.
