Re: Reaction: Nintendo Surprises Us All With the 2DS and Wii U Price Cut

bluecat

The 2DS looks like it was made to compete with other kid friendly gaming devices like LeapPad/LeapFrog.

Kinda mad about the price cut since they were so adamant before there wouldn't be one any time soon so I went ahead and got a Wii U awhile back. But if it helps rise the popularity of the Wii U and brings even more users to it then fine.

Re: New 3DS Update Brings StreetPass Relay Functionality

Hmm maybe a trip to McDonalds, Starbucks, and Barnes and Noble is in order today....

I've gotten 380 tags, and I've had my 3DS for a little less than a year. It certainly helps that I go to a few cons a year. But I'm loving this relay thing! Gotta try it out! But it sounds like it depends on people updating their system first. Might take a few weeks to actually catch on. :/

Re: Impressions: The Best Buy "Nintendo Experience"

I got there early and was able to play Super Mario World 3D and got a Luigi coin. It was fun but the play area was not ideal. The system/TV was facing inward toward the video game section so space to watch was very limited and very tight. It got kind of warm around there. :/

Re: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies Confirmed For This Fall in the West

Ummm objection!?

It's not that I have a problem with digital, it's that I have a problem with how Nintendo does digital. Little eShop games are one thing, but I always buy physical copies of retail games because if something were to happen to my 3DS I'd be screwed. I know Nintendo has said they are working on it but it is how things are for now. :/

And the Ace Attorney series is a VERY important series to me and I was so looking forward to adding a 3DS title next to my DS titles on the shelf. This is incredibly disappointing. I'll probably buy it anyhow because I just have to play it (get to play as Apollo again!) but dang I'm bummed about this digital only thing. :/

@skjia "Also we're talking about games that cost less than lunch."

That's a great way to put it. I think the prices are very fair. Especially for the pricey carts out there like Earthbound. I like to collect retro games but find it very difficult to drop more than $20 on one. The VC fills this void for me.

@HeatBombastic That's actually an assumption I believe, assuming that they will come to the 3DS for the masses just because the ambassadors got them. If you can link me to a source that states other wise, quoting Nintendo themselves, then please do.

Re: Nintendo Won't Be Holding A Large-Scale Press Conference At E3 This Year

@AbeVigoda E3 isn't for the gamers really anymore so much as it is for everyone else - the mainstream media (that's why they have celebs), shareholders, and other business related parties. IDK about you but I've been losing interest in E3 steadily over the last few years. And yes I own other consoles beside Nintendo. I am still curious as to what MS has to say as I have an Xbox. But even they appear to be making their big reveal before E3...

Ehhhh I think this is simply going to have to be one of those 'let's wait for it to play out' sort of things. I will say they certainly are keeping their name in the news right now with this, keep people wondering.

Re: Nintendo Won't Be Holding A Large-Scale Press Conference At E3 This Year

Nintendo's E3 presentation has always been the most fun to watch so this is a little of a let down but yeah like others have said E3 has been going downhill for awhile. Hour long presentations that only have about 15 min worth of anything exciting, unnecessary celebrities, and awkward stage demos have really worn down on me.

Nintendo Direct is better. We get more news, more often. Plus I'm sure Nintendo still has some big things to drop on us this summer. They are still showing at E3 just not having a keynote. And if they drop Smash Bros U on us just watch all the M$ and Sony fanboys come crawling back.

Honestly I kind of hope E3 dies off in the next few years, or at least becomes less important than it is perceived to be. A scattering of big announcements through out the year is better than waiting for one day a year for them.

@tanookisuit "Finally the predatory resellers feeding off the hype will have their cash cow crippled and definitely not soon enough. A fairly common game with a fairly rare game price..."

No kidding. Uncommon? Yes. Super rare? No, not really. I hope to see the prices drop from about $200 - $300 to well under $100. I'd like to own one but hell if I will pay those prices. Honestly that game shouldn't be going past $50....
