It's games like this that make me think that a cross game achievement system would really help lesser known titles. Getting achievements seems to be the main source of replay value here, and just think how enhanced that replay value would be if it fed into a larger system between other games. You could have an overall achievement score to brag about and it would give a little spark of interest to all titles and most importantly to these simple titles.
@Savino interesting. Some otherwise great games on PSP were seriously hampered by having to aim with face buttons. I hope that isn't the case with Revelations on 3DS. Thank god Vita has dual analogue sticks.
Price of software obviously needs to come down. 3D is not an excuse to ask for the same price as AAA games on PS3, that cost a lot more time and money to make. Look at Sony's pricing for PSP software and follow suit.
The only one I think I'll probably be tempted by in that list is Star Fox. It's a great game, but I've played it many times and it's hard to part with £30 for a game I already own, albeit sans 3D and portability.
Until the Mario games come out I'll mostly stick to what I've got. Luckily I'm still not bored with DOA, RR, SSF4 or Zelda. I'm a bit bored with PWR and SMB, but hopefully I'll find something to do with those too. Plus, there are also the free NES and GBA games for us early adopters. So I'm not desperate just yet.
The last WiiWare game I bought was Bit.Trip Runner, which came out over a year ago. So I guess I've officially stopped buying WiiWare games as well. How time flies!
I agree with @Mickeymac . I'm sick of the isolated 3D platforming levels in Galaxy. Give us a Mario game with a fully realised Mushroom Kingdom to explore!
Yeah I was pretty gutted when I found out Mario 3DS was more Galaxyish 3D gameplay than NSMBW 2D gameplay. I think Nintendo would be silly to abandon 2D Mario, especially when you look at the sales figures ( NSMBW outsold both Galaxy games put together, and then some).
So your telling me that Nintendo is coming out with a console that is 50% more powerful than a console that is five years old (PS3), yet they are showing off games for it that will already have come out for the PS3 like Batman and Darksiders. That doesn't sound like a very good strategy for promoting a brand new console which is 50% more powerful.
And when you say it doesn't just mean graphics, you better not be refering to things like disc storage because Nintendo optical disc has no where near the same storage capacity as Blu-ray.
Basically the Wii U is something like a current generation console (Xbox/PS3) with DS type functionality. So you'll get ports of games made for other current gen consoles from 3rd parties and a few Nintendo games that use the tech in creative ways. That's all we can be sure of at the moment, expecting anything more is just pie in the sky.
@ SKTTR Yeah right, If you believe that, you'll believe anything. They showed nothing at their E3 conference to prove that. The best graphics I saw at the Nintendo conference was the PS3 version of Batman Arkham City, which by the way is coming out his year. Why would they show PS3 games if the Wii U has so much power?
These comments are unfortunately full of blinkered Nintendo fanboys. Seriously, If you can, go play an Unchartered game and then comeback back and tell me that Sony only copy Nintendo. The PS3 allows for sophistication of gameplay and story-telling that Nintendo either can't do or are scared to try.
Plus, do you Nintendo fanboys even realise that you can already access your PS3 remotely via the PSP and play games from your PS3 on your PSP? And just like the PSP, the Vita is a portable machine, as in you can take it out of your home and play games remotely, unlike the Wii U tablet. So how can Sony only copy Nintendo when they already do things and will continue to do things that go far beyond what Nintendo does?
BTW Naughty Dog only highlighted a couple of drawbacks with the Wii U and then said it will be great anyway because it's a Nintendo. That sounds more like a complement to Nintendo than a criticism.
Nothing for me this week. I've tried to like Picross before, but I always get bored with it after a while. To be honest, I think plain old minesweeper is more fun.
Ahh I remember having a Gamegear; I could play it anywhere, abosolutely anywhere... within 2.5 metres of an electrical socket. How times have changed... Looks at Nintendo 3DS - Doh!
I do like the idea of setting my tactics on PES without the other person seeing. Unfortunately, you can't use 2 for 2 player games, it's unfair on the person who doesn't have it. It's like the master controller, everyone will be fighting over it, like fighting over who is player 1, but times a million.
"The game itself claims that the QIX moves randomly, but before long you're going to swear it has at least some kind of AI. And also that it really, really hates you."
I swear that the thing very deliberatley makes a sudden dash for me if I get a little cocky and try making bigger shapes. Also I don't get the feeling of regret for not using the sylus, if you had the stylus it would be too easy to box the thing in in no time at all, as your drawing speed couldn't be limited in the same way.
"Mercenaries 3D is the slimy result of a Capcom executive meeting titled, "What can we get away with this time?" Add in the fact that the game basically has no resale value, and you're left with a worthless chunk of plastic that would probably poison you if it could. Like toxic waste, Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D is a disposable byproduct that can't even be disposed of properly"
You can probably corrupt the save file by doing something your not supposed like switching it off while saving. Then it'll be forced to create a new save file.
@JusticeColde Capcom have been known to do dastardly things like this before. Like Final Fight on the PSN, which wil only let you play when you are signed in online. (stops you sharing game between different users).
Well you are somewhat of a diety on NL, so we can be forgiven for taking you too seriously.
I think everyone is just a bit suprised that the Wii U didn't grab your fancy, it is Nintendo after all. Maybe you were more impressed by Microsoft or Sony's offerings?
I thought it was fairly conclusive that Nintendo won the show...
Remember this is the guy that hyped up the 3DS beyond belief, then shortly after its release said he wasn't going to touch it again because he'd experienced a few you black screen errors. Let's just say, he's a bit moody: On another day he'd probably be hailing the Wii U as the the second coming.
I bought it, but I'm not enjoying it that much. I don't think zelda really became 'ZELDA'!!! until Ocarina of Time, which has had only one true sequel in Twillight Princess. Other Zelda games are too boring to really enjoy. I'm gingerly crossing my fingers for Skyward Sword, but in fact, it is Zelda HD for Wii U that has really sent my sword skyward
Back in 1998, OOT was my first ever day one purhase of a game, I drove all the way to Toys 'r' Us in Luton to find a copy. No shop in my county had any unreserved and the shop assistant at Toys 'r' Us told me they had 50 at the start of the day, I got there at 11 and they were down to single figures. Ahh, the good old days of Nintendo shortages.
This version will be much easier to find, partly in thanks to half the population seeming to think the 3DS wilI make them blind. Cheers Daily Mail.
I haven't played OOT since completing it the first time, so 13 years later when I buy it day 1 for the 3DS I'm hoping to it's going to be fresh as daisies again.
I'm ready for a sequel to Super Monkey Ball 3D. I'm a bit bored of Sonic for now so I'm not waiting for his latest adventure. As for mature games, it would be great to have new installments in Sega franchises like Bayonetta or Yakuza come out on th 3DS. Do it Sega!
I've already downloaded two Adventure Island games on my Wii, and I want to get this one too. They are so fun and easy to play because it's such a streamlined platforming experience. I don't think games like this ever get old, and you still see new games that are very similar coming out, look at Bit. Trip Runner for example. Personally I'd choose Mr. Alex Higgins any day.
PES was basically a port of the PSP game, it didn't play anything like the PS360 version. If EA can get the PS360 game engine running on the 3DS, then I'd be be impressed.
Ha! You absolutely killed it in the review, good job .
The only thing is, I think honestly, you would have liked to have gone lower than 5. But perhaps you were just a little scared of the backlash from the die-hard warriors fans out there: "You just don't get it man" etc. etc....
Sounds good, glad you enjoyed it. What interests me is the story and Eastern European setting. I really don't like the idea of cardboard cut-out soldiers though. You said that 3D in unimportant but i read somewhere that you can tilt the 3DS to look round corners, I guess that's just a pointless gimmick.

Re: Rayman Origins 3DS Screenshots Look Good, Don't They?
If it closely resembles the home console versions and has good 3D then I think this wil be the one to get.
By the way, the use of a tag question in a title is kind of weird.

It's a scheme James. Don't get bullied around by Americans.

Re: Nintendo Download: 28th July 2011 (North America)

Re: FAQ: Nintendo Ambassador Program and Free eShop Games
It's a pity that we have to wait so long to get the games. Especially the GBA games.
Do you know the typical size of a GBA game? I imagine that we'll all have to buy new SD cards in order to get all of the games.
