I'm really looking forward to this one, as I "grew up" playing the original - which I hope they include as a bonus game. I can't wait to see what the refresh brings, though.
This game is going to be a riot. At worst, it will be very entertaining to witness the unique personalities of the enemies. And at best, it will also be severely enjoyable to beat the crap out of them.
If this doesn't come out the following Monday here in the US, I'm gonna walk up to the next guy I hear with a British accent and kick him square in the nuts.
@Ghostfire-Scott You're very welcome. I just wanted you to know that the details like this are really appreciated by those of us who pay attention, and probably by many others who may not recognize why they're getting goosebumps when they watch certain things.
Ok, seriously? I've watched this trailer about 10 times already and feel like I've already gotten my points' worth.
Look at how well this trailer is put together, guys. At 0:19, the Shrek-lookin' dude raises his sword to the crescendo of the soundtrack. Perfect. At 1:01, Horlan the Crusher stomps his foot precisely in time with the tympany hit on the "1." Sublime. And the triplets I mentioned in an earlier post? Please... THIS is quality stuff, and it's obvious that Ghostfire has paid very close attention to the details and production values of this title.
Ghostfire, this is from me to you: if the game is put together half as well as this trailer, then you've earned each and every nickel - may there be many - that your efforts bring. I'll be among the first to buy.
Oh, and by the way? Bottle that soundtrack and sell it - it's awesome! Triplet figures at 1:12 FTMFW! I hope this track gets a nice long extended version for the game, and that the others are in the same league.
You're right of course, Corbie. I've since "removed the pole" and found some humor in the interview. But still, with pretty much everything from them being over the top, from the restaurant video to the Vegetarian Hitler ad, I was hoping maybe they'd settle down a bit and give us some - you know... information about the game? I'll admit I did expect a little of that. It's not a relflection on you though, and I hope you didn't take my comment that way my friend.
Good upgrade. Just use the D-pad to page back and forth so as not to induce slide-out mayhem trying to point at the L/R arrows. I was trying to use the -/+ buttons, you know, the convention of the Wii Menu et al. but to no avail. Duh. Also, the Channel's icon on the Wii menu updated on the old version, but this one looks better.
Yeah, they're totally right! The moveable weapon "effect" is missing from the original!
The ice weapon's barrel freezing effect is pretty cool, I gotta be honest. Will it be missed? Sure, by some. Just don't fault them for appreciating the details! I noticed the raindrop effect on the visor looks awesome in the trilogy though. I didn't even see it at all in the original in the video. Nice touch! Even trade? Pro'ly not, but whatever... Sucks that sacrifices had to be made - when something is billed as "definitive," all the cool stuff should carry over, and those effects were kinda cool, yeah. But in my opinion, the trilogy is an upgrade from the individuals for the controls and 16:9 alone.
Good tune, ghostfire. If there's one change I would make - an easy one, I believe - it would be to enlarge the soundstage a bit to give the song more resonance and sustain to fit the atmosphere. As it is, it sounds too "tight?" for an outdoor epic gladiator battle. Thanks for sharing it!
I'm with those that are less rather than enthused because of this video. That said, I'm confident it'll review well and I'll get it within the first couple of days.
I had two of these. Got rid of 'em just a couple of weeks ago. I BEAT the living HELL out of them, drove them off 2'+ vertical drops, raced them on off-road bike trails, the works. If the game is anywhere near as fun as these are in the real world, it'll be worth the price of admission right there.
If they do it right, I just might actually play Earthworm Jim for the first time. And this was not an attempt at a stealth first... I really have never played Earthworm Jim.
Flood the VC with quality titles and advertise the hell out it to appeal to memories of better times for those nesting to ride out the recession. In uncertain times, familiar challenges are welcome distraction.
WiiWare might be perfect for Telltale's games, but that doesn't mean that their games are prefect for WiiWare. Let them get the developers back on the reservation, and I'll tune in next time. Strongbad and Monkey Island don't interest me in the least anyhow.
If there were suddenly a little button that said "Push for HD" discovered on the backs of all the Wii's out there, anyone saying he wouldn't push it is either a liar or an idiot. Sure doing more with less is noteworthy and admirable, but imagine what more Nintendo could do with more.
Some entrepreneur type here is gonna start a trans-ship service and send his American counterparts some seeds for a small fee. Where do I send the payment?
@Chicken, you know I'm not short on points - so as long as your review was favorable I planned on getting this. Looking forward to it! Great job on the review by the way. Better than your first even, which was good also - but no doubt difficult because of the game you were reviewing.
I won't go so far as to assume that the message is a fraud... yet. Yes, it's poorly written and doesn't send a very corporate, sanitized message - but I can say from personal experience that I've received far worse from some pretty big companies. I know I'm not alone in that. These are contact center reps here - they don't receive media training. And there is a chance that the sender did not identify himself as a member of the "press."
Whether or not the email is legit, the message should be taken with more than a few grains of salt.

Re: Review: PictureBook Games: The Royal Bluff (DSiWare)
@JayArr: That's the deal, because Nintendo played this one too close to the vest. But I hope it turns out well, 'cause the game is clearly no flop.

Re: New GoldenEye Title in Development?
...and all I'm thinking about is how this poor SOB is gonna handle the suits that come after him for breaching his NDA, inadvertently or otherwise.
Re: Review: Mini Ninjas (Wii)
Congrats on your first review, Dragon! (Now to go read it!)

Count me among the disappointed.

This chick sounds like my exes. I think I've heard every single one of her lines in real life. Can't wait to meet this one.
Re: Nintendo Download: Fantasies, Wars and Words (US)
I seem to recall a WiiWare release schedule with a bunch of awesome games slated for Q3 release floating around here somewhere...
Re: Monster Hunter 3 May Be Feeless
This game's prospects for joining my collection just skyrocketed. And they were already up there.
Re: Stop Stress: A Day of Fury
"Falling Down" for WiiWare. (I wish.)

Now that's how to do an interview. Very informative, and respectful of NLife's integrity and its membership as well. "Team Meat" should take notice.

@V8 Ninja, It's a gimmick immitation of the "Havoc Heli" cheap-o RC heli commercials.

Lame trailer, but I'm all over this!

Finally! This is truly a day-one purchase for me. So long as the production is on par with the original, it's guaranteed to be a quality title.
Re: Review: Mr. Driller W (WiiWare)
First a 1, then a 2, and then a... 9? Nothing like a chicken with conviction!
Awesome review, friend. I'll be getting this today.
Re: Brand New Rage of the Gladiator Gameplay Video
That dude Vensor? His voice pisses me off so much that I might have to get this game just to beat the living crap out of him.
Well played, Ghostfire.
