Re: Feature: EU Wii U Launch Day - Live!

Tsuchiya

I've just been told by Tesco that mine hasn't been dispatched yet and "when it is dispatched, it should be with you the following working day." Not a hint of what that day may be. So now I'll run the risk of missing the damn postman when I'm at work. Tomorrow would've been so convenient.

So it looks like I'll be staring at Wii U games for some time. Providing I don't miss them as well. Lovely. I do have an email saying both the Wii U and the games will be here tomorrow but I'm not holding my breath. Tesco, you suck!

@b_willers
I have that exact email. Let me guess, your Wii U states "sent to fulfillment"?
I'm waiting on a response from them on FB.
Apparently, my Wii U is set for delivery tomorrow but hasn't left the warehouse yet.

@b_willers
I pre ordered mine from a catalogue (I don't recommend this route at all)
The games arrived on launch day but I was Wii-less for 2 weeks. I didn't get anything early. The games arrived on time but the Wii didn't.

It's happening again with my Wii U

When I ordered my launch Wii, Twilight Princess (and others) arrived a whole 2 weeks before my Wii arrived. 2 weeks looking at a sealed Zelda game that I couldn't play nearly drove me mad.

The Devil himself would've sympathized with such cruelty.

Not really as bar a few games, it was a pretty awful program compared to this anyway. Early adopter of what? A slight variation of the same thing that I adopted at its initial launch? They are both in the 3DS family, both models can download full retail games. So let the owners of both models download a free game.

Re: Nintendo of Europe Gives Free Retail Game to All 3DS XL Owners

Either make it fair for every 3DS owner or don't do it at all.
Handheld gaming is going down the tubes. Make one model, concentrate on it and stick to the damn thing Nintendo. Don't juggle both and screw over half of your consumers (again)
Come the next handheld, I'll be giving it a miss.

@Dambuster
My comment vanished. Maybe I am impressed afterall?

Re: Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition Dogged By Performance Issues

@SDDMN
The 360 version has very, very small framerate issues but it's pretty much unnoticeable. It can ever so slightly stutter during replays but other than that, it's as smooth as silk

I can't personally comment on the Wii U version as I don't have my Wii U yet. But It's a stable game on the other systems so I can't see it being too different with Nintendo.

@Araknie
A game like Borderlands doesn't need gimmicky controls added just for the hell of it. It plays great on the other systems without a screen. Just because we now have a screen doesn't mean developers have to twiddle their thumbs waiting for ideas to use it.

The Pro controller makes more sense for such games. It not being used when it should be, worries me.

Re: Reggie: Sony and Microsoft Need To React To What Nintendo Is Doing With Wii U

Tsuchiya

Microsoft and Sony can give us all the tech they want. They can give us Avatar-esque visuals. A bit of GDDR5 here, a sprinkle of 16 core CPU there but you remember to bring along your gold teeth and your car to put down as part exchange. Because what some of us want, will not be easy to absorb. And the die hard fans wanting such tech, well you just watch them throw a paddy when their prices hit home.

As a fan of Microsoft and (less so with Sony but still, a fan) I beg them to not follow the all out tech war route again. Develop innovation.
If Nintendo has done anything this gen that needs to be taken into account it's this - innovation, good powerful technology and affordability can be achieved for a new system straight out of the gate. If either Microsoft and Sony mess up on their launch prices then we will see a casualty. Sony can't afford to do this again.

It can stand out, it can shine and Wii U will but the ball is in their court. All we can do is wait and wonder.
it's wallets that do the talking nowadays, more so than ever.

@x-mas_mii
Have you played Borderlands?
The easiest way to get it on Wii U would be to just use the Pro controller set up exactly like the 360 version. There is no reason to use the Gamepad for such a game. He doesn't need an OMG moment, just use the other controller!
It's an Xbox 360 pad with Wii U written on it! C'mon! No excuses.

This is just a cop out.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime: Wii U Is "Much More Graphically Intensive" Than Rival Systems

@Henmii
There is around a 3fps difference between the Wii U version and the PS3 version which would be pretty much unnoticeable. It can hardly be described as terrible. The framerate issue seems to be with single player. From what I've read, online multiplayer is smooth as silk. I'll be playing it on friday so I'll see for myself how it runs.

To just look at images and videos, it looks virtually identical to the other console versions. To me however, the Wii U version just seems slightly more visually richer but I can't really comment properly having not yet seen it first hand.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime: Wii U Is "Much More Graphically Intensive" Than Rival Systems

Tsuchiya

From the videos I've seen, it's pretty hard to differentiate between the other systems. If it doesn't look better on Wii U then it looks just as good as it does on the rival systems. Which isn't really surprising as it is a port.

Soon, all 3 consoles will output visuals so similar that choosing which one looks better will become pretty much impossible. The only thing that will develop and make a big impact when graphical prowess inevitably levels out, will be the price.

I can't wait....
