Re: Feature: Wii U Launch Day, Live!

Not long for UK now.

To help ease the wait and to count down the last 10 days till Wii U, come tomorrow I will play one Nintendo game every day on every Nintendo console I own. Taking the time to remember and to toast the good old days and think of how far Nintendo has come.

"On top of this your ‘favorites’ will be renamed to ‘liked paintings’ and will now become public, allowing you to discover new paintings more easily and of course see what your friends are liking"

Let's hope you don't have a penchant for naughty doodles

@Strongo9

Well for the original game, expansions, new improved controls, new multiplayer modes, new levels, support for Gamepad, Wii Remotes, Nunchucks, Classic Controllers, support for accomplishments, patching support, Online and offline 4 player coop and Miiverse support, I'd say it's more than worth it.

@rodoubleb Nice to know.
We're talking Wii U here though not PC. Please don't sully other peoples fun or excitement. For some, this is a whole new game experience. M'kay? The price for everything included is more than reasonable.

Your opinion, we respect but it's spoken from beneath a bridge.

Any news on how DLC, patches etc. will be made available on eShop?
Does it have a Live Marketplace-esque menu/ sub menu were extra content is displayed? Or is it just like 3DS eShop were extra content is accessible via the game/ game icon?

Also, and this is important. What colour is the power on light?

Re: Reggie Discusses Embracing The Digital Age Ahead of Wii U Launch

"We prioritized the eShop because we’re seeing that, first, there’s a segment of consumers that want their games digitally on the system and don’t want the hassle, potentially, of physical discs"

Don't forget the casuals and disc buyers Reggie boy. Overall, you have to hand it to Nintendo. They've evolved so, so much in such a short amount of time. Then again, they had to. Nintendo's competitors will be once again, left in the dust* and this is entirely new territory.

Out selling, out performing and forcing the direction of the next generation before it's even started.

*HD dust, naturally.

Re: Iwata Reveals How Nintendo Developed The Early Prototype For Wii U

I think when Sony and Microsoft catch up, the power and tech of the next batch of consoles will start to level out. As much as some people would like consoles with 16 cores etc, It most likely won't happen. The economy won't allow it. As long as corporations want to make money, innovation will have to play much more of a focused role should a company want to stay on top. Should the big 3 set out to constantly out tech each other, there will be casualties.

Graphical output by home consoles will be almost indistinguishable in a few years anyway so we need the Nintendo's and now, the OUYA's of this world to keep everything fresh and to keep gaming moving forward in great big strides.

Re: Feature: The Making Of Myst

I found it to be slow and tedious, the music and sound effects were iffy, and the pace of the, for want of a better word, gameplay will try its best to keep you gripped but bless it, it fails but don't get me wrong, it's ok. I'm not sure if the majority of modern day gamers will have the patience for this. It has a cult following and it's by no means the worst game ever but to those tempted by it, read everything and watch everything about it first. This really needs an eShop demo.

@RR529

If he's played them, he has every right to say so. NL gave those games 8/10. That's just this one site (and I respect it) but it's not a widely held view across the world is it? NL liked them and that's good but someone can say they dislike something and that's good too.

@WaveBoy

I totally agree.
It is nice for younger gamers and newcomers to have them there though. Shame they look awful. This is the worst looking of the NES bunch so far.
But it is still a classic even if Dr. Salvadors been at it.
