The "games" are terrible, vacuous, badly developed and cheap crappleware is not fit for dedicated and vastly superior gaming systems.
Apple could sell a huge steaming cowpat with headphones to the masses and people would still buy it simply because others are doing so.

You'd find more individuality within a field of genetically cloned sheep.

Wii U being more powerful than current gen will help Nintendo dominate the 8th generation. Nintendo's attitude is right, pricing is fair and it's a name consumers know is a winner. When Sony release the PS4 you can bet that they'll mess it up, come out with overpowered hardware and launch it with a stupid price. Microsoft will probably enter the 8th with a console of similar power and price to that of the Wii U. Probably concentrating more on innovation than tinkering with the tech too much. Sony don't appear to understand what a bad economy is. It's not 1994 anymore.

The fanboys may want a console that'll fly you to the moon but mark my words, they'll be the first to complain about what they initially wanted as soon as money is mentioned and with all due respect, as @Koto says, the brains of the Wii U are pure speculation and rumours.
No one knows the true specs, including you.

It being sold not only supports the fact he is a complete idiot but also that the people buying them are idiots also. If not more so. The only positive you can take from this stupidity is that Nintendo benefited from it albeit in a very moronic way.

I agree with @fchinaski
This really doesn't have a place here or anywhere really. I'm pretty surprised you did NL. Just let him get his jollies on Youtube I say.

Good point. I fear most of the PS360 devs may have gotten slack in this gen so when Wii U kicked down the door of the 8th gen, they seemingly couldn't be bothered with it choosing to attack it instead. But can't really blame them. It's easier for them to stick with what they know and what help keeps the lights on. Unfortunately, THQ saying the CPU is "horrible" will only fuel the fanboys and that's irritating.

Wii U has devs like Ubisoft, Namco Bandai, Rocksteady, Bioware, Gearbox, Platinum Games, Capcom, Team Ninja busy at work and openly praising the Wii U. Wii U will do just fine. We have developers like Sora working on Wii U for crying out loud!

Stay calm and Play Nintendo

My launch Wii had it's DD and innards busted thanks to SSBB. It flew out of its stand about an inch in the air only to fall back down, bricked!

Nintendo swooped in, plonked in a new DD and even cleaned the casing of Mario sticker marks.

Microsoft can pretty much keep doing what they're doing. They've already nailed the online scene and have the AAA games in their arsenal. I'd guess they'll focus more on Kinect and SmartGlass rather than the console hardware. They'll probably tweak the specs to match those of the Wii U but not by much just to keep the costs down. Graphics aren't really the seller they once were and I'd even say considering all 3 are HD capable, it's not important anymore at least not to newcomers.

As for Sony, well who knows. One thing's for sure. If the rumours of PS4 not being backwards compatible turn out to be true then that'll be a huge mistake as will possibly having games locked to your consoles and the console being online only. There won't be an incentive to buy one because multi platform games will be cheaper and more easily accessible on Wii U, 360 (hopefully nextbox) and heck, even PS3. Exclusive games presumably would be available for both PS3/4 and I'd bet that given the choice of the 2, the majority would stick to PS3. Unless of course, PS3 is instantly dropped upon the release of PS4 and you're then forced to follow your wallet.

On the subject of multi platform releases, if you're a Nintendo fan you'll have the Wii U which now being HD capable, opens up so much more opportunities than you've ever had before. If you own a 360 (maybe even a Wii U too) you won't need a PS4 really as everything, give or take the odd game is well and truly catered for between the 2 machines. They compliment each other very well.

Nintendo and Microsoft are chugging along just fine even with the odd hiccup here and there but I just have a bad feeling about Sony. Time will tell

@Urbanhispanic

Nintendo merged Nintendo WiFi connection with Nintendo Network so at least for the vast majority of online capable games on both Wii and the DS family, the servers will stay open and I can see Nintendo keeping that way at least for this gen and I have a feeling the 8th will be a long'n

Re: Nintendo Has No New Wii Games In The Pipeline

Tsuchiya

It came, it saw and it changed.

Wii is one of those truly remarkable consoles that when we look back at it in 10-20 years time, we'll realise just how much it altered gaming for the better and how thankful we'll be to Nintendo for breathing life into a generation (the 7th) that was and still pretty much is, slowly destroying itself.

Re: Reggie - Wii U Is "Absolutely The Beginning Of A New Generation"

Tsuchiya

@Andy Green
Graphical power alone cannot move a generation forward. We're in the 8th gen now and the graphical capabilities of the home consoles will start to be indistinguishable from one another. We're at the stage were consoles will have to differentiate themselves from one another. Wii U does that and then some. We can't have another 7 year graphics war. We will have casualties.

I'll tell you what it will do though, It'll make the 720 and PS4 very, very expensive. I honestly can't see Microsoft being silly with specs and prices but it's Sony that will most probably screw it up. The Wii U will have the upper hand for years to come simply because it's affordable and people can trust in the name in a tight economy.

Re: Reggie - Wii U Is "Absolutely The Beginning Of A New Generation"

Tsuchiya

I'd say that graphical improvements to some extent do help to define a console generation from another but it's innovation that helps to move a generation forward.

As we know, it was the Wii that defined the 7th generation in the end*. Proof should it ever be needed, that innovation HAS to be key. Especially when the industry is stuck in a rut.

So enter Nintendo yet again and I'd say (imo) that Wii U is the first truly next gen system (8th). It will be very interesting to see what the others do when or even if they choose to do it. I'm pretty sure Microsoft won't be silly when they join Nintendo but we're looking at you Sony. O_O You shot yourself in the foot with the PS3.

Prepare your shovel...

*I'm calling it over

Re: Reggie - Wii U Is "Absolutely The Beginning Of A New Generation"

Tsuchiya

Nintendo have opened the 8th generation perfectly (price, tech, attitude) and I have a feeling that Nintendo will absolutely dominate the 8th. They've learned from their mistakes. This is the Nintendo I remember, we're back on track now.

As for the others. Well, I'm calling it. Sony burned in '13/14. The next Xbox whatever will do just fine.

I'd bet money Sony will bolt out the 8th gen gate blinkered with a ridiculously overpowered, overpriced PS4. Out of the 3, they're the only company that'd be stupid enough to do so. They never learn. The economy will not allow consoles that are 4, 8, 16 times more powerful than the Wii U. You may want them people and MS and Sony will be itching to make them, but it just won't happen.

Nintendo has got it so, so right here. Affordability, a good reliable name and Nintendo have kicked the gaming industry in the backside and helped to get it back on track again. We can't have consoles constantly out teching each other not for another 6-7 years. It's not getting us anywhere and frankly it's gotten stale in more recent years. It's not good for the consumer. This gen didn't and next gen won't see a tech leap akin to say, the Snes to N64.

Graphical capability will level out between the consoles. Innovation will have to play much more of a vital role to help tempt future customers. Wii U has substantially more powerful tech on board and it's brand new. In other words, come 5 years, Wii U will still be there. Imo, Microsoft will do just fine but it's Sony that need to shape up or ship out.

Just my thoughts, don't hit me.

Re: Ubisoft Has No Plans To Release DLC For ZombiU

Tsuchiya

@Bass_X0

In regards to the infamous Horse Armor, there was an uproar when it was released that it was pretty much useless, it was overpriced and that it added nothing to help benefit gameplay.
It's more than enough to prove that unless DLC will add extra depth or entertainment in a relevant way to the gameplay, it shouldn't be there. Yes it's entirely cosmetic but DLC for fighting games isn't the same as DLC such as Horse Armor. Costumes help to add some identity to your character and can be good fun seeing other players online. I've spent hours upon hours customizing fighters in SC4 making them look like Mario, Link etc It's really good fun. It would be boring if everyone looked the same right?
Horse Armor was just plain ludicrous. Horse combat in Oblivion wasn't there and you spent pretty much the entire game indoors.
DLC when done well can be fantastic. Fallout 3 and New Vegas proved that.

On the subject of Bethesda, make FO3 and NV happen on Wii U. Pipboy would just fit perfectly on the Gamepad.

Re: Halting Wii U System Update May Brick the System

Tsuchiya

If you have had a power outage then that's awful and most probably couldn't have been avoided but most people must have gotten impatient and started messing around with the console and it's leads.

As with any device, leave it be when it's updating! Go walk your dog. Don't have a dog? Then go find a dog! Walk that! Be patient, play some NES, read a book. Do something but don't start tinkering! As for your ISP, well that's your ISP's problem and nothing really to do with Nintendo.

Re: Ubisoft Has No Plans To Release DLC For ZombiU

Tsuchiya

DLC is good but if it doesn't add anything useful then it doesn't have a reason to be there. It's best it's left absent rather than bodged on. Horse armor anyone?
It would be good to have the option of extra content but it's not a necessity. Besides, it's friendlier on the wallet.

@Slapshot

Nintendo doing that helped 2 things.

Speed of the Wii U release
And how much it cost.

At least in the UK, you can buy a basic Wii U AND a decent sized HDD for less than the price of the premium model. HDD's really aren't that expensive anymore.

Re: Halting Wii U System Update May Brick the System

@Trikeboy

Most places here will probably already have their stock allocation so I'll bet we'll have to DL the update ourselves. I'm pretty lucky with my speeds thankfully. Just be patient those of you with slow speeds!

Play some retro Nintendo to pass the time.

Re: Miiverse Hacked By Mistake, Possible Metal Gear And Yoshi Wii U Games Unearthed

Tsuchiya

Apparently, it was fixed within the hour.
But it's an odd'n. The Flipnote Hatena username in some of the pics is real but it's a dormant account. In one pic, 2 identical looking Mii's seem to be talking about drawing and their dreams. I don't know, it all looks a bit iffy to me.

The debug menu pic doesn't look related to the other menus in the other leaked photos. If he did hack MiiVerse, was it done on the Wii U or a PC? Forgive me for not being tech savvy but I can't imaging Nintendo's monitoring team, monitoring things on a Wii U console.

The pics with drop down taps look PC-y to me.
Hoax?
