Re: E3 2012: Our View of Nintendo's E3

TimboBaggins

They had more titles to talk about that they flat out ignored. Game and Wario and Project P-100 should have been mentioned, even briefly. And they should have made a bigger deal about Mass Effect 3 instead of glossing over it. Ubisoft was the ish this year.

Re: Nintendo Goes Mobile With iPhone Cases

TimboBaggins

I think it would be cool for nintendo to release some exclusive mobile games that are not featured anywhere else. It could be fun to have nintendo on the go, and it could attract more fans. However, I am not in support of taking games that already exist for other platforms and converting them to mobile devices. That would be a fatal mistake.

Re: Wii U Power Lacks a 'Generational Leap'

TimboBaggins

I'm tired of the c@ck measuring contest. I shouldn't have to make apologies for liking Nintendo better. I challenge any xbox 360 or ps3 owner to list 10 must have games for their respective systems that are not FPS, or that do not involve guns in some way. Those consoles tend to focus on one type of game, and unfortunately it is my least favorite genre. Sidescrolling platformers don't require the graphics to be startlingly realistic, I think they will be just fine for me.

Re: E3 2012: Corbie's Photos From the Show - Day Two

TimboBaggins

The scribblenauts graphics look much prettier on the big screen, I wasn't impressed by this until now. I still don't understand why Game and Wario wasn't mentioned in the conference, same as why I don't understand why Kirby wasn't mentioned in the conference last year. If you have a new game to show, well, show it already!

Re: Peter Molyneux 'Not Really Decided' on Wii U GamePad

TimboBaggins

In a day and age where people watch tv while using their laptops, and occasionally checking the pda or smart phone for messages all at the same time, this statement is absolutely ridiculous. I think modern people are already looking at two screens at once, if not three or four.

Re: E3 2012: Miyamoto Talks Zelda Wii U Experiments

TimboBaggins

I am all for trying new things with Zelda, but I'm not enthused about dumbing down the game for a casual audience. Didn't you already do this with the zelda game in nintendo land? If you make something for a casual gamer, make it a sidequest, or DLC, but not the next major entry. I like the idea someone suggested of an old school 2D zelda for casual gamers, and the traditional 3D gorgeous epic for deep gamers.

Re: E3 2012: The Most Gorgeous Wii U Screenshots Yet

TimboBaggins

The mario game is deceptively complex.there is a lot going on in that background. it might not be the most impressive, but its the image that pleases my eyes the most. Trine looks beautiful too - is that in game footage, or a still? If its real time thats very impressive

Re: E3 2012: F-Zero is Coming to Wii U

TimboBaggins

meh, I'd rather have the real thing. But better than nothing. I feel like this whole nintendo land thing is a stop gap to tide fans over because they can't produce a new metroid, mario, zelda, f-zero, and luigi game all in one year just because fans demand it. Some of these games take several years to develop. So maybe they are throwing us a bone while they work on long term projects.

Re: E3 2012: Wii U Tech Specs Revealed

TimboBaggins

This is a good thing, disk drive are becoming outdated, everything is moving towards proprietary flash technology, this is actually forward thinking, unless you wanted them to put an SSD inside, which would cost too much. If you put in a traditional HD it would be dated in a couple years. SD cards will be used for a long time, perhaps completely replacing CDs, DVDs, and BDs.

Re: Talking Point: Reviewing Nintendo's E3 Press Conference

TimboBaggins

Nintendo gets a 7/10, but they still win E3. Microsoft's presentation blew, Playstation's suffered technical difficulties and only two major games.

Nintendo had over 20 games to announce, but you wouldn't have known it due to a bad presentation structure. First thing is first, they should have immediately said "Wii U will come in black and white at launch, will feature clickable analog sticks, you can use two controllers, and you will be able to transfer your VC content." boom. Second, less time should have been devoted on fitness, sing, and nintendo land. But I don't really care about that, they should have ended big instead of starting big. Honestly, I don't think they needed the extra nintendo direct live feed, they could have fit all that into this conference. Plus all the other conferences were nearly 1.5 hours, yet nintendo's ended in only one. It seemed like they were filling time, when there was honestly no need to because they have tons of awesome games to feature. Great work on listening to the fans and making positive changes to the system, sloppy execution of the presentation however. Shoulda saved either Pikman or Mario for the end. Still the absolute best of E3, this year was just a weak year all around.

Re: E3 2012: Game & Wario is Like Wario Ware, But On Wii U

TimboBaggins

@fivedigitlp my thoughts exactly.

Look I knew there would be new music, dance, and fitness games. Nintendo would be stupid not to make those considering they are the bread and butter of the wii. However, grandmothers and soccer moms are not tuning in to E3 anxiously anticipating the announcement of Sing and Wii U Fitness. Nintendo should have played toward the core gaming audience much harder.

Re: E3 2012: Nintendo Land to Show Off the GamePad

TimboBaggins

This game looks very fun, but half of the conference should not have been devoted to it. I actually fell asleep. I would rather have seen more New Super Mario U. Horrible way to end the conference, I was sitting their waiting for more. WTF are Retro and Silicon Knights? And they said they weren't going to focus on 3DS games, yet they spent a good chunk of the presentation talking about the new mario and luigi mansion 2. I am stoked for this game if its a pack in....actually, I expect nintendo to include some sort of pack in game, or I'll be pissed. All the best nintendo systems came with a pack in game (NES, SNES, Gameboy, Wii)

Re: E3 2012: Wii U Supports Two GamePads

TimboBaggins

If the halved framerate only effects the controller screen, then it shouldn't matter. The resolution on the controller isn't going to be 1080p anyway. I wouldn't like hurting the fps of the tv screen, but I could care less how many fps the controllers are running, especially if they are used for maps, items, and other periphial functions. This is great news, and a terrific surprise considering the amount of bellyaching and speculation after the initial nintendo direct feed.

Re: Reaction: On First Glance, Nintendo Land is No Wii Sports

TimboBaggins

I don't think they should have focused so extensively on this. Presentation started with a bang, but this slowed the momentum down. I think the game is cool, but damn nintendo, its not the next great IP, its a bastardization of all your current IPs. This will be fun, but its not going to attract core gamers. I will be thrilled if this comes for free with the system, but if it costs extra I will seriously have to think about whether or not to buy it.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo to Announce Bigger 3DS Tomorrow

TimboBaggins

This is sooooo not happening. A new 3ds could eat away sales from the Wii U this fall. Also, they are finally making a profit again on the 3ds, and they have sold a lot of copies in a very short period of time. Why would they mess with the current swell in sales? Just lots of 3DS games and more sales of the normal 3DS this fall. I don't even think we will see another price drop for at least 2 years.

Re: E3 2012: Pre-E3 Nintendo Direct Round Up

TimboBaggins

@Shruikan I know, right? One of the funniest Simpsons episode I've seen in a long time, and its a new one! This restored my faith in the show

@SMW The simpsons episode is called "The Food Wife" I think it actually debuted in november, but the timing of the reairing was perfect for this weekend

Re: E3 2012: Pre-E3 Nintendo Direct Round Up

TimboBaggins

Anybody catch the simpsons episode tonight? It was awesome, they went to "E4" and played games like World of Krustkraft and Guts of War and Grand Theft Scratchy. Homer, lisa, and bart sneak into the FUNTENDO conference to see the new system debut!!!!!!!!!! How awesome is that?!?!?

Re: E3 2012: Wii U Pro Controller Offers More Options

TimboBaggins

Noone seems to have mentioned the lights at the bottom of the controller (showing player 1-4) are very similar to the PS3 dual shock controller. Also, see that mini usb port at the top? This baby is wireless, with a cord charger. Glad they combined elements from both the competitors. I think the joysticks feel much more natural in a symetrical position, fanboyz just gotten used to holding the controller weird. This position allows the d-pad and buttons to be directly across from each other for when you are playing games that don't use joysticks (like the new mario). Its like they took the snes controller and added joystick/trigger wings. LOVE IT -PERFECT-DON"T CHANGE A DAMN THING

Re: E3 2012: Nintendo Direct Live

TimboBaggins

Everything I wanted and more. The joysticks are clickable so you fps fanboys can stop your bitching. Obviously they thought really hard about the comfort of the controller, so that is probably why it is bigger. I'm glad they added a contour so that you aren't trying to hold a pointy rectangle in your hands. Wasn't expecting the miiverse, very cool, very different, now you can chat and play at the same time. Love it. The new mario is totally tits btw. Please announce a new Metroid and a new Donkey kong! DKCR was probably in the top 3 best games for the Wii.

Re: Feature: Our Favourite E3 Memories - Part Two

TimboBaggins

I find it interesting that all your favorite E3 memories are from the post Reggie era. I for one hate that guy, and I've been following E3 way longer than that. What about older reveals, like when the DS came out for the first time, or when project dolphin was announced, or when the Wii was still just an unknown revolution? God I feel old, but all these E3's are from after I graduated high school, so they somehow don't seem as magical as when I saw the Dreamcast revealed and had to wait an agonizing year for it once I realized it wasn't coming out until NEXT christmas. The Wii U is the most excited I have been for a system since then, ironic the controller also has a screen (albeit with infinitely more functions).

Re: Feature: Games We'd Love to See at E3

TimboBaggins

All these are totally possible. Except Advance Wars, that won't make it to the U.S. even if it is released. Also, even if they announce a new zelda it will be a good two years before it comes out. A new Yoshi's island would be AMAZING! Make it so! I agree tho it won't happen until after the mario game. My pics:

-New starfox/f-zero from retro
-New eternal darkness from silicon knights
-Wii U sports/play/etc
-Wii U Paint (its just too easy)
-Tons of third party stuff
-First vid or concept art for smash bros
-first announcement of new zelda
-A new IP?

Re: Reaction: The Big Wii U Rumour Round-Up

TimboBaggins

acid ghost? seriously? I hope thats not true. And since when did anyone say anything about metroid/starfox crossover? That would indeed be a very bad idea, although I do like the suggestion of a unlockable ship in starfox or a nod in metroid via a crashed Arwing. Seriously though, the big reveal is going to be retro doing a remake of starfox or F-zero. And either would be great. And how about Silicon Knights releasing a new Eternal Darkness?
