@N00BiSH This is a bad faith argument. He isn't arguing against human creativity. He is arguing if a product is good rather if AI assisted or not, what makes a difference? Also a point you can't just type "Make me a game of the year video game." and one pops out. Everything even AI must come from a level of creativity by humans. The sooner people look at it as an assist tool and less a complete replacement for media the better.
Also to note even if AI, people are going to distinguish what is good and what is bad. I can assure you we are no where near where we can ask an AI to completely take over creative tasks.
I don't think it matters if people like it or not, AI is here to stay. I don't think its a big deal if you are using it to make certain tedious work more efficient or needing ideas on a conceptual level.
I think the right thing to ask people is do they care about AI on a creative level or a faster means of production like small asset creating or programming languages.
I believe most will agree that AI should not be used purely on a creative level, but I don't see why anyone would argue for it on a tedious level.
@AussieMcBucket I believe they have to make sure the experience you get on docked mode is the same as handheld mode. So if its 30fps handheld, its 30fps docked.
I enjoy my Switch 2 but only thing I wish and it may get better with time is better 3rd party optimization for their games. Since most companies likely have a dev kit at this point it may naturally work itself out.
As much as I rather see this be an animated movie, I will give credit where its due and say in terms of Link and Zelda I think they nailed it. So looks wise I think we are good, now if the acting matches it remains to be seen.
I think the biggest determining factor will be Ganondorf. Who will successfully take that role while looking big and imposing without looking comical in the process.
"Why is the initial resolution so low, and why do I occasionally see brief drops in the framerate? My Switch 2 generates hardly any heat while running the game. As much as I love the game so far, the environment sometimes looks like something out of a PS2 or Xbox game."
The reason it is so low is because they incorporated FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) where a game's internal resolution is upscaled by AI to properly scale with the device. So say for handheld its internal is 648p but AI upscaling tech will upscale it to 900p-1080p. So on the development side you get the benefit of a 1080p like experience while its technically running at 648p. This is how they are able to run 60fps (mostly) consistent on a handheld.
"If the Switch 2 is not running its fan at full power to run games like this, then the game needs to look and run better. Granted, it's a Warriors game, so I'll give it some leeway for that, but... seriously, Nintendo?"
Its not that simple. You can in theory push the hardware on Switch 2 but you have to consider how hot the device will get and how fast the battery will drain. If Hyrule Warriors ran at native 1080p with no FSR or dynamic resolution, it would not only run worse, but the battery wouldn't make it past an hour likely.
I think unless someone is a hardcore enthusiasts on having native resolution, that FSR and DLSS is the way to go if people want their games look good, play well, and have efficient battery.
The difference is FSR is being used. I would get use to most companies when they are more attuned to their dev kits will fully utilize the technology to only have to use lower resolutions and get 1080p handheld/2-4k docked results. The companies who care at least.
Which is all good with me. I don't care how its done as long as its stable and looks/runs good.
I decided to get it on my Steam Deck OLED. Runs beautifully at max settings 720p/60fps without needing to adjust anything. The one slight caveat and hopefully a mod comes in soon is that the device's aspect ratio is 16:10 and Square-Enix only offers the game in 16:9, so you small black lines at the top and bottom of the screen. Not a big deal but it is something for anyone to consider.
I hear the Switch 2 version looks good enough, but I am trying to stop binding myself to one ecosystem when I have options for the best experience. I'll play Switch 2 when it is the best handheld experience and will on the SD when it is on that. For DQ1+2, Switch 2 users are not getting such a lesser experience its not worth buying on especially if that is your only handheld option.
@Runex2121 It looks noticeably worse. Its not so bad you can't enjoy it regardless but its disappointing the Switch 2 is a 1080p/4k device and a game not exactly power driven like FFT can't achieve those resolutions.
I am sure DQ1+2 will run great on S2. This is my own thing, but I have a S2 and Steam Deck OLED and would like to justify playing on S2 especially since I have a completed DQ3 save on there, but why deal with performance 60fps that drops the resolution and graphics 30fps when I can have essentially graphics 60fps on SD.
I just want to know what the game's resolution is before deciding between Switch 2 and PC. Was not a fan of Final Fantasy Tactics where the Switch 2 version was 1080p docked and 720p handheld.
@Dang_69 Its more we know the game can run much better than what they have given us. If the game was 30fps across all platforms, then most would not care. The fact that other platforms have a better gameplay experience turns people off.
I can meet halfway and understand they didn't have dev kits in time, but you are willing to sell a half baked version regardless.
@KevinP Nintendo has been anti-consumer and controlling as far back as the 80's. If Nintendo does not have complete control of how their product is used, they will look for means to do so.
I feel like every Nintendo device that comes out we have this conversation.
@KevinP Many companies don't build their tech to be easily accessible, especially smaller devices. I don't condone it but I don't know why Nintendo in particular is specifically called out.
Sony and MS are certainly not going to encourage you to take apart their tech. Valve with their Steam Deck if anything is more an exception.
I personally believe anything should be accessible, but companies benefit from us going out and buying another so they will always pick the option to not make it easily accessible.
I get if they want to inform the customer base of the controller's quality which is more than fair, but how many people are going to actually attempt to repair their controller? Maybe some people who are tech savy enough to dive in, but IMO people buy another one or buy a cheaper alternative.
It is baffling how hall effect sticks are not a thing especially after their stick drift during the Switch era, but for what they are, both the joycon 2 and Pro Controller 2 are great controllers.
@IceClimbers I see Shovel Knight getting a master like collection on the Switch. The main game, and the two DLC campaigns. Maybe a Nintendo exclusive boss like Sony and MS have. I hope it comes out soon on Switch because I want to play the new DLC campaign on that.
@TheLZdragon Because Nintendo has been known to make bad business decisions. I love their games to death but they are very well known for making poor and unpredictable business decisions. So yes it would be very Nintendo if they left the previous systems behind and started anew. I didn't say it would happen, I only said I wouldn't be surprised if they did. I hope i'm wrong and some incredible system comes out that makes new and previous purchasers of their VC games happy. We will see in two weeks.
@DBailey I don't know about that. It would be a very Nintendo thing of them to do to not tie anything to the previous devices and start anew. Hopefully they have "something" planned.

@AussieMcBucket Same thing
Re: Video: Skyrim Still Isn't 60fps On Switch 2, But Here's How It Fares Against Switch 1
@user0 Likely battery life.
I wish companies would embrace 45fps. Its a power saver still and better than 30fps vastly. Its always 30 or 60 with developers.
