I find amusing that so many people think this is doable, and will run great at 60fps on the switch. It's probably only the developers who are lazy. Ori is a very detailed and demanding game, and there's no way around the fact that the Switch has much less muscle than other systems.
I still remember how R-Type and Rainbow Islands on the Spectrum blew everyone's mind, and no one asked why it looked so much worse than the Arcade originals or the Amiga conversions.
Not a popular choice, but I went with Echoes: Shadows of Valentia.
For a change I quite like the story. Other 3DS entries (Awakening and Fates) had ridiculous plots and dialogues. Older FE's weren't as bad but were pretty damn dull on stories. This is the first one that i cared about.
I also liked the graphics, atmosphere and great production values. The gameplay was solid all around.
Second choice was Path of Radiance. A solid game all around.
Fates and Awakening have good gameplay, but I had to skip all dialogue and cutscenes because I felt that I was getting more stupid ever passing second i spent watching/reading it.
It's disappointing that this doesn't have at least an HDMI out. How much more it would have cost to include one?
I like the look of this and it really looks more portable than the normal Switch, but won't games like Divinity: OS2 and the likes look to small on it?
I really liked this game, So I'm probably in the minority. I felt like Trine 2 was the most they could push in the old framework. A Trine 3 in 2d would have felt more of the same.
Only bad thing I can say about this game is that's it's a bit short, but with so many games, and not so much time to play them, is it a bad thing?
@jcvandan Many games, specially indies, are made with ready-made engines, like Unity or UE4 which are resource intensive and were made with other platforms in mind. Porting those games to Switch will always mean big concessions.
Odallus is one of the most underrated retro-inspired games ever. For me it's absolutely perfect in every sense. The fact that the game didn't get the exposition it deserved is criminal.
I think this game aged a lot better than Alex Kidd in Miracle world. It controls tighter, it actually has good boss battles, and it's much deeper, since you can invest in different upgrades in each run, thus making the game feel a little bit different each time.
I used to love Blue Byte wargames such as Battle Isle and History Line. It's funny that you mention this game's complexity, when at the time, Blue Byte made war games more palatable for a wider audience (nicer graphics, simpler mechanics and UI).
@OorWullie GODS control being clunky was part of the gameplay. Castlevania games also controlled slow and clunky and we still love them. Like Castlevania, when you do commit to an action, like throwing a dagger or jumping, then there's no turning back.
@Gs69 Up-to-Jump was tolerable when playing on a Joystick. The problem is playing these games on emulators with gamepads.
But the Amiga was capable of using two-button joystick/controllers. It was sad that barely any game took advantage of this (I do remember Apydia and BC kid only)
@Sihy I had a gamecube, and i still don't understand the love the controller gets. It's dpad is even more worthless than the X360 one, and that one gets a lot of bad rep.
Viewtiful Joe could have been so much better with a more appropriate controller.

@Rhaoulos I found the third game perfectly fine. Yes, it's shorter than the others, but there are so many games and so little time, so that's not really an issue.

Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo Switch Lite - Half A Switch, But That's More Than Enough For Some
@StableInvadeel Makes sense, never thought about it. I thought it was just Nintendo being cheap.

Re: Hands On: This $50 Handheld Plays Pretty Much Every Game From Your Misspent Youth
@60frames-please PC Engine I think it can although I haven't tried.
As for the GBA, the 3DS can play them natively I think. You just have to find some injected roms somewhere.
Re: Hands On: This $50 Handheld Plays Pretty Much Every Game From Your Misspent Youth
@The-Chosen-one Because it might interest some readers, surely.
I have a 3DS with retroarch, so I don't really see the point of these, but it might be nice for some people. And really looks pocketable.

I used to play the Amiga version which was a very competent conversion. (I even wrote about the experience on my blog, this game means a lot to me: http://amigamemoirs.blogspot.com/2016/03/chapter-xxxi-wonderboy-in-monsterland.html)

@ReaderRagfish If they're still releasing, it's because it's still profitable.

Turrican 2 had 3 (very awesome) shmup levels. So it's still very much Turrican inspired, it seems.

@Friendly And why does the sequel needs to be exclusive? More people playing the game somehow make you enjoy it less?

@Edu23XWiiU Everytime I had to contact them, they were quick to reply, and for the most part they offer a good and solid service for a decent price.

@Jokerwolf first paragraph on wikipedia:

Re: Get Up To 69% Off Top Ubisoft Games In This Super Nintendo Switch Sale (Europe)
@Jokerwolf Ubisoft is a french company. And games have been cheaper in NA compared to Europe since the dawn of time.

I completely forgot about this game because of its absence on Steam. But it looks really cool. Good thing they're releasing this for the switch.
