"Is Disney Speedstorm free-to-play?
Last Updated: 23d
Disney Speedstorm is designed as a free-to-play title, but to ensure we deliver the best combat-racing experience, we're opening an Early Access period first. During the Early Access period, fans on all available platforms who purchase a Founder’s Pack will be among the first to race in Disney Speedstorm and will get Racers, exclusive cosmetic items, Tokens (in-game currency) and Golden Pass Credits that they’ll retain once the game launches as free-to-play. This period will also allow players to become one of the many helpful voices providing necessary feedback to determine the future of the game’s player experience."

I wonder when the free version launches.

Re: Best Castlevania Games On Nintendo Consoles

Simon97

Here is a secret from me to you: I have actually never completed and finished a Castlevania game!

I have played a few of them but not all of them and the ones i have played were rather, uhm, idfficult and i have not tried an enormous amount of time to beat them. And some of the newer and maybe slightly easier games.. i started playing them but did not finish them.

the games i have played the most are probably Castlevania, Castlevania Vampire´s Kiss, Castlevania Adventure and Castlevania Adventure II.

I clearly have som catching up to do. Time to get, ehrm, whipping.

Re: The Super Mario Bros. Movie: When Will It Release On Streaming Services?

Simon97

In my country Sweden where i live, it might get a release as a streaming movie on Sky Showtime maybe. I do not know really. But the Sonic movies are on Sky showtime i think.

But i am probably buying it on bluray anyway. I hardly buy bluray movies any more but i want the Super Mario movie as a physical disc in my personal collection to watch whenever. Actually, watching it whenever would not work with a bluray disc, because my phone does not play bluray discs. Maybe i should buy a digital copy as well? WAHAHAHAH! (Greedy Wario laughing about all the money he earns from me buying the same movie twice?)

Re: Looks Like There's Already A Mobile Game Ripping Off Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

Simon97

In all fairness, being able to rewind the path of an object is probably not something Tears of the Kingdom was first with, either?

Did not Braid do pretty much the same thing in 2006 or 2007? But in a 2D puzzle-platformer game.

And combining objects into weapons is probably not entirely unique either. did not Homefront Revolution or Borderlands for example do the same thing?

Re: Super Mario Bros. Movie DVD, Blu-ray And 4K Steelbook Pre-Orders Are Now Live

Simon97

@teamdave2002 Totally, if you could not spot the difference between bluray and dvd, then stick with the dvd. I prefer bluray but it depends ont hings like how close to the tv you are, how big the tv is.... if the tv is small then dvd might be enough. For a big tv, bluray or 4k resolution seems like the better option.

4K movies are quite expensive and i actually do not own a 4k tv yet but if i get a 4k tv i might start buying 4k discs if they get a bit more cheap.

Re: Microsoft's Activision Blizzard Acquisition Has Been Officially Blocked In The UK

Simon97

Nintendo Life writes:

"This wouldn't have much of an impact on Nintendo gamers were it not for the planned 10-year commitment from Microsoft to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo platforms, announced back in December 2022.

Much like the commitment itself, the specific language is vague but it does seem as though the deal was contingent on Microsoft's acquisition being approved by regulators. Back in February, Vice Chair and President of Microsoft, Brad Smith, tweeted to confirm "Microsoft’s strong commitment to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo’s customers if our acquisition of Activision Blizzard is approved by regulators". There's that key word: if."

Well, Nintendo Life, it is nothing vague about it all really.

Think about it for a while, Nintendo Life.

Microsoft is only able to commit to bringing Call of Duty to Nintendo Switch and "Switch 2" (Switch U, Switch 64, Switch Boy Advance, Super Switch, SwitchCube) if they actually get to buy Activision Blizzard.

If the purchase does not go through, then Microsoft is not the owner of Call of Duty or Activision Blizzard, which means Microsoft has no way to make commitments. If Activision Blizzard stays an independent company, then they would have to commit to bringing Call of Duty to Switch or "Switch 2" themselves. Microsoft would have no say in it, just like Microsoft has no say in whether or not EA brings games like Battlefield or NHL to Nintendo Switch or "Switch 2".

So there is no big mystery here, not very vague. Microsoft is only able to commit to it if they own the company. IF Microsoft does not get to buy Activision Blizzard, then we would need a promise from Activision Blizzard themselves about Call of Duty for Nintendo Consoles.

A question for Nintendo Life and other gaming press to ask Activision Blizzard is obviously something like:

"So if you stay independent and Microsoft is not allowed to purchase you, could we still get Nintendo versions of Call of Duty or would it be a hard no on bringing Call of Duty to Switch?"

Activision Blizzard has brought some other games to Switch, right? Like Spyro the Dragon, Crash Bandicoot? So they are at least not completely inexperienced with Switch as a hardware and platform.

Re: The Jurassic Park Games Are Getting A 30th Anniversary Retro Collection

Simon97

@KevynOnVideo no not really. of course there was some cynisism from the business side of things, but as a developer you probably want to build a nice game even if it is a movie game.

They did not have to much time with the games either. Because they needed to release games at the same time as the movie releases. So they could not spend a lot of time on development in some cases.

Re: The Jurassic Park Games Are Getting A 30th Anniversary Retro Collection

Simon97

I guess since it is the greedy limited run games people, they would just release new and very expensive games for the original consoles.

A collection for Switch, Xbox Series S, PS4, PS5 would be nice.

And if they would include also some games for sega consoles and the sega arcade game and some lost world titles it would be very nice. There were some Jurassic games for Saturn and Playstation as well, you know.

I did not play jurassic park on SNES but i always thought it looked quite fun and it was very early with the indoors 3d perspective too. I also heard the NES version is kind of rare and therefore worth more on the pre owned market.

Re: Hori Unveils Five New Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Products

Simon97

@Not_Soos

"In total for Switch, I own a standard Pro Controller; wireless Hori Sonic; Pac-Man Split Pad Pro; Power-A wireless Mario Bros. 3 and Twilight Princess; and Power-A wired Super Mario Bros., Kirby, and Metroid Dread. I also have Joy-Con in grey, OLED white, blue Skyward Sword edition, and two pairs of Animal Crossing ones I never use."

You have too much money!!

A nice collection though. I only have the Switch itself but i might buy a wired gamepad. A cheap one probably. There are many nice ones from Power A with different pictures. Hard to choose just one. I understand why people might want to connect them.

Switch with just joy cons are okay but the buttons and the analogue sticks are too small for an adult i think. But for a child i guess they are okay.

But if i would buy "stuff which are not just games", i would maybe be more interested in collectors editions and the very cool mario kart home circuit which i was pretty close to buy once when it was on sale but even on sale it was still kind of expensive, about 50 dollars (or the equivalent in swedish kronor). And i maybe needed to buy other stuff. Also, an SD card for Switch might be nice and maybe some amiibo.

And i would like to get an OLED Switch too at some point even though the difference from regular to OLED is not huge. Big, not huge. But it is kind of pricey, it is 100 dollars just to upgrade. And then i might be too attached to sell my original Switch too, it happens. I did not sell my GBA when i got a GBA SP.

Re: Super Mario Bros. Movie DVD, Blu-ray And 4K Steelbook Pre-Orders Are Now Live

Simon97

@Ironcore Hardly anyone buys VHS tapes or uses VHS anymore but i guess some people still buy DVD discs and not blu ray discs. I wonder why people stick with dvd even though blu ray is quite cheap and built in also in many devices.

I think the leap from vhs to dvd was much bigger though, compared to the next leap, dvd to blu ray.

I mean, there is a big difference between dvd in 480 p and blu ray in 720 p or 1080 p. Especially on bigger screens. But the difference between vhs and dvd was just huge.

Re: Poll: How Many 3DS Consoles Have You Owned?

Simon97

I owned a bunch of them at the same time but it was kind of like more for buying and then reselling than for me personally. I think i only owned one 3DS at a time which i actually used personally.

(And no, i never owned a 2DS. Or 2DS XL. Or 3DS XL. I did own a New 3DS once though but i did not play on it, i only bought it to resell. Maybe i should have kept it but both 3DS XL, New 3DS and New 3DS XL were kind of pricey.)

Owning a New 3DS or New 3DS XL would be really nice if i could still find a new one. Better 3D with the tracking feature. and bigger screen too.

Re: It's Official, E3 2023 Has Been Cancelled

Simon97

Too bad, E3. Maybe next year then.

Or maybe an event in Europe if the game developers do not choose to go to E3. Perhaps two events at the same time. There could be like a european E3 and an american E3 at the same time. (Obviously, you could not get the same game directors to both events, but the same games could be at both shows.) Maybe one event in Vancouver and another event in Paris or something. It would require a lot less travel but on the other hand, european and american game developers could not meet.

E3 is maybe a bit too soon in the year, it is in june, maybe there should be an event in september when many of the fall releases are almost finished? A lot of big games have releases in september and october, right?

Re: Nintendo Switch Online - Every NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis, Game Boy, And GBA Game Available

Simon97

@PBandSmelly It sounds simple enough. But what about paying for a japan subscription? Would i need a special credit card to buy from the japanese switch shop?

I might do it but i guess it depends. Paying for double subscriptions is kind of..expensive. But it is nice to be able to do it.

Anyway, for Harvest Moon, playing the japanese version means playing it in japanese so i might want to buy it right now on e shop anyway.
