Re: Review: Fire Emblem: Awakening (3DS)

Definitely going to get this ASAP. When they announced this I decided to finally try Sacred Stones for Ambassadors since I never touched it. Now I am engrossed in the game's story. I'm not really that good, though. lol

Re: You Can't Use Your Wii Virtual Console Saves With the Wii U Virtual Console

Shanksta

@bezerker99 It's just more inconvenient than anything else. It takes like maybe 45 seconds to switch to Wii mode. I also have an issue like other people where if there is a disc in the WiiU when it loads Wii mode, it will say that the Wii's system data is corrupted. Then I turn it off and back on and it loads like normal and I start all over again.

Re: Nintendo Reveals Plans For Wii U Virtual Console

Shanksta

Since I bought the Deluxe WiiU, I'll just be using the money I earn back from downloading to gradually switch my NES and SNES VC games 5 at a time. (Or at least pick my favorites)
The one thing I want to know is, since the game when I redownload it will be on the WiiU Menu. Will there still be one on the Wii Menu? Because I would hate to have to get as far as I am in Castlevania again (since I would assume the save data won't carry over since they are redoing the save feature)

Re: Nintendo Direct: Watch The Wii U Direct Presentation Live

Rebuying virtual console games for play on gamepad at a reduced price is the best thing that realistically could've happened. I'd rather just be able to play my old games on it at no cost, but $1 is not that bad of a deal to upgrade. It's better than paying full price again which I wouldn't have done.

Re: Ralph Nader Targets Violent Video Games and Their Developers

Shanksta

The reason I'm outraged by this is because who is at fault for children being "molested" by violent videogames is their parents.

Granted videogames can be fun and not violent, but some great games have been made that happen to be violent. Sure the game would still be fun without violence, but its my right to play them. I had to wait until I was old enough to buy M rated games myself because my parents would not buy them for me due to my younger brother wanting to play every videogame we got.

Parents have gotten more and more ignorant to these things over the years. Parents take their children to R rated movies. They also buy them whatever game they want so they will shut up. Working in retail I already understand that the majority of people are complete morons or have no idea about ratings systems for movies or videogames. There's my two cents.

Re: LEGO Lord of the Rings

Shanksta

I'm only an hour or two into it but this game is by far my favorite lego game. I haven't played any lego games recently other than some of Star Wars 3. Playing this game brings me back to playing lego 1 and 2 on the gamecube (level layout wise).

I really like how the hub world is basically Middle Earth. You can go from Hobbiton to Bree (that's as far as I am), and beyond exploring some areas in between for treasures. There seems to be alot to do other than just replaying levels which was the case with the older games. How closely the game follows the movies is awesome. Especially the voice acting which was taken directly from the films along with the music. I'm 21 and I'm still enjoying this game because its like watching the movies and there's so much to do.

I'm also impressed by how many different things they've done with this game, such as there is a battle where the camera goes to first person while you are fighting. I also ran into a section of a level where there's a chase sequence where you are running having to avoid obstacles, it was pretty funny.

If Lego City Undercover is anything like this then I'll be picking that up as well when it comes out.

Re: Pandora's Tower Finally Heading To North America

Shanksta

There was a time when I didn't care for JRPGs because they didn't appeal to me. When I heard about Operation Rainfall I figured I'd give it a look, and I'm so glad I did because I really enjoyed Xenoblade Chronicles and The Last Story. I'm excited I'll finally be able to try Pandora's Tower, since my hopes of being able to play this were gone months ago.

Re: Club Nintendo Accounts Can't Be Linked To The Wii Shop On Wii U

Shanksta

I don't really mind. I have bought a few WiiVC games on my WiiU. I have also bought some retail/download games from the eshop. So yeah, not getting points on purchases from Wii kinda sucks, but I've already gotten like 15 bucks back from the digital promotion on WiiU. So I really can't complain.

Re: Wii U Software Sales Are "Struggling"

Shanksta

@FiveDigitLP Thanks for the link. That just shows that publicizing that there are major problems with software sales is kind of misleading. Granted that does show that there ARE problems with game sales, just more towards people buying them at retail stores for their games.

Who can blame them either? How many times do you hear "Would you like to buy our 1 year in-store warranty for 5 bucks?" It's just extra expense on top of games that themselves are not all too cheap.

Re: Wii U Software Sales Are "Struggling"

Shanksta

Are these numbers including eshop downloads as well? I have a few friends with a WiiU and unlike me, they downloaded all of the games that they bought for it.

If downloads are included then my opinion would be yes, the games' price would probably be the biggest factor.

I've also heard from numerous people that "the WiiU has yet to receive a title that warrants purchase" since there aren't many games announced until later.(ie. Zelda, Metroid, Smash Bros) That's not how I feel but maybe others do?

Re: Retro City Rampage Still On Course For Release This Month

Shanksta

I may not get it out of sheer spite, mainly due to Wii getting it very last. At this point we might not get it until after EU gets it for PS3 and Vita(Jan.16) even though everywhere else its already out for Xbox. I so wanted to buy this when it came out for PS3 and PC at the beginning of October. I feel Nintendo fans, got the short end of the stick and I don't much care for that:(

Re: Review: Mass Effect 3 (Wii U)

Shanksta

I've played the all the games, and actually thought about buying this one for WiiU. I wish that the trilogy would make its way to WiiU because buying the last one doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Mainly due to the first being my favorite one, and personally I thought the second one was very important to the canon of the trilogy. (I understand you can go through the first two in graphic novel format but its not the same)
