Re: Review In Progress: Palia (Switch) - Is It Worth Playing At Launch?

Phon

I started playing this about a week ago and I'm really enjoying it so far. I would take exception to a number of points that the reviewer makes; I personally don't think it's blurry, and I don't think the load times are notable. It certainly doesn't feel like it's "barely holding on".
There are some bugs for sure, and a couple of strange nuances to the gameplay but, having said that it plays just fine, it looks really nice, it's wholesome and easy going and really quite charming.
I'm definitely invested in seeing how it develops and I very much hope that it does.

Re: Review: Windscape - A Pleasantly Laid-Back Take On A Well-Worn Genre

So I bought this last night as it was on sale and with my discount cost just under £1.40, which to be fair, seems about right. Even this much later the game is still on 1.0.0 which pretty much labels it as abandonware in my book.
Don't get me wrong, it is charming and does have some nice touches, and crafting - which works quite well actually, and I like the retro graphics. BUT, oh but... the quests are kinda nerfed; dialog occurs before the thing to which it refers has happened, the AI is completely off the wall, and it really doesn't feel finished at all.
It is a bit like "My 1st Oblivion", and carries amusing meta-references to Bethesda games.
It has certainly got some decent points, and it is (currently) quite fun to play, but it really lacks in some of the details and polish and finish, which is a real shame as an obvious amount of time and effort and love has gone into it.
I'm down with carrying on coz it's not annoyingly terrible like some games, and it's too full of innocent to charm to drop - (I'd feel guilty) - but it's not worth the non-sale price by any standard, and it's definitely not a 7.
If you can find it on sale for under £2 though, go for it, it'll make you smile if nothing else.
Oh, and the music is EXCELLENT.

Playing this now, and (again) really enjoying it. There's evidently been some chunky patching going on between this original review and now (2023), and there's even some DLC for it.
It's a great game and one of my only cartridge games. A huge time sink, I love the style and all the mechanics and actually the location and the characters are really sweet, and to be fair it has a nice little story.
Definitely a recommend from me - (for what that's worth, lol) - and a bump to this score by at least +1, possibly +1.5...

I gotta say that I got this in the sale for £1.80 or something and I've played it for about 2 hours or so now and not like I expected. I was a bit dubious coz it's right on the edge of what normally like to play but actually it's been a good way to pass the time.
"Not Bad" is bang on the money.
I've not died (yet) and I have no idea if I'll restart if I do but for under £2 it's all good.

@nimnio to be fair they are only for cosmetic stuff and some few "head start" bits and pieces. There's nothing in those transactions that would stop stop you from playing the game as is, and grabbing loads of stuff through actually playing the game itself, including cosmetic enhancements.
If you want a bit extra, then you can grab it. I don't see what the problem is.

Re: Elder Scrolls-Like RPG Ravensword: Shadowlands Launches On Switch This Week

I have actually played this and a couple other Crescent Moon games on mobile - (well, tablet) - and they are really good. They won't set the world on fire, but for the price you get a decent enough RPG that clips along at a reasonable pace and doesn't outstay its welcome.
Crescent Moon do these really well and this is a great example of what they do, so rather than bitching about it you could either just pay a very minimal fee and get a few hours of entirely reasonable playtime, or move on...

Re: Nintendo Officially Unveils The LEGO NES Console, Launches Next Month

Some people in these comments and on other sites appear to have literally no idea how much licensed Lego sets actually cost. This is on the cheap end, try some of the Star Wars stuff, for example.

Also this is Lego, it's not a "Oh Nintendo made a lego so they aren't doing anything else", thing - it's a licensed set, obviously Nintendo are gonna push it, I mean, Duh.
But it is, Lego, and that's it - so why bring up the whole "Oh but the Joycons", it's not even relevant.

I think it's pretty cool, and fun too.
