Now this is the Art Style game I've been waiting for! I'm very much anticipating its NA release. I really hope it'll come before the other two yet-to-be released (European) AS titles.
I'm pretty sure Nintendo would put a hold on anything inappropriate. Its their franchise after all. I doubt they'd want to sully Metroid's good name for some hormonal teens.
Also, remember when they said the DS would be their 3rd pillar, and wouldn't compete with the GBA or console? Whatever happened to that?
Well, that was before the DS took off into the stratosphere. Realizing that Nintendo simply left the GBA on the wayside. It's a good thing, too. I thoroughly enjoyed the GBA, but I really love the DS.
I think this game and the Art Style ones can peacefully co-exist. I quite enjoy both. I always smirk when people say the AS series' presentation isn't all that great. It's a point of that franchise to be minimalistic, while featuring enticing gameplay. Anyway, back to Mighty Flip Champs. It's good fun, but I'd give it an 8.
Sheesh. People need to quiet down about the whole online thing in games. I cannot fathom how an online mode would be at all good for a game like this, especially considering the big N's network restrictions.
@KDR - "The differences between the Wii and GC don't matter at the engine level."
That's not really true. A modified engine could do plenty of tricks the original couldn't. That's not to say that entirely new code wouldn't be better.
I'll be more than likely to pick this up. I loved the first, and with all the improvements made on it this game should be a blast. With the online level trading I'll actually be interested in building stuff.
The only real bummer in PiCTOBiTS is the lack of any multiplayer. No local, no online, no leader boards. It’s a shame too, because the concept lends itself well to all of these things.
That shouldn't be at all surprising. All the Art Style games are like that.
@worrybomb Beat the first five stages before I bought the first dark stage, and it too kicked my ass. I wonder if I even want to know what the dark stages for stage 6 and beyond will be like, since normal is starting to get challenging there as well.
Woohoo! I've only been waiting for Majora's Mask for a couple of years now. It'll be my first time playing it, so that should make things more interesting.
I'll also be getting PiCTOBiTS: I love the Art Style games.
Actually, the game goes for $40 without the wheel, while Excite Truck still goes for $50 at retail. Talk about weird.
Anyway, I was skeptical about this game. I really liked Excite Truck, but I thought EB looked a bit too gimmicky. I ended up trying it out at the game store I frequent, and I walked out with a copy a little later. Once again a very fun (and this time quite weird) arcade racer. Frankly, I much prefer it over Mario Kart Wii. MKW just ends up frustrating me more often than not because of all the cheap shots - MK DS is a much better balanced game.
I've been looking forward to this game ever since it was first announced by Platinum Games. I just hope it won't take too long to localize, although it does seem there's quite a bit of text to translate in this title.
Ugh. I just watched the gameplay video for the Rainbow Islands remake. It looks absolutely horrible. How could they f*** it up this badly? No, thanks. It's doubtful that we'll ever see the original on the VC. Thanks Taito/Square Enix for being retards.
Since I know the actual board game quite well I just didn't think Penguin & Friends was quite up to snuff. As for those complaining about the omitted online functionality, you might want to reassess what board games are about: they're all about being social. Playing a game like this where I would have little to no real interaction with other players is far from appealing, not to mention rather boring.
I only really picked it up because I got it for cheap. It's a fun arcade-style game - I have no interest in "real" American football games. Probably not worth full retail price, though.
Can you save your game's progress? The game is saved automatically after each stage you beat.
Are there unlimited Continues? No, there are not. Once you reach the game over screen, you get the option to restart from your last save or start over from the beginning. That's it. It's not much of a problem in normal mode since it isn't that difficult to gain extra lives, but if you're low on lives in hard mode it can make the going particular tough in the later stages.
Is the game just as damn hard as Nebulus? Nebulus is definitely the harder game of the two. That said, hard difficulty does provide for a good challenge in CPJ.
Will you get dizzy from this spiral level architecture? I wouldn't think so. All the motions are perfectly smooth.
Just because they use similar processors doesn't mean that the coding will be identical, seeing as the iPhone uses a derivative of Mac OS X.
Anyway, this might turn out well. The iPhone game seems to have gone over really well. Include some proper controls, and it just might be a fun racer to have.
I'm looking forward to the Real Football review, since I'm quite interested in the game, which probably isn't too far off from being released stateside.
I'm definitely going to pick up Dr.Mario. The loss of multiplayer is not such a big deal to me, seeing how I almost never touch those modes in Dr Mario on my Wii.
From what I've read in the few reviews that are around at least battle multiplayer looks quite similar to the ones in Battle Land Touch, so I would expect 4-player wifi games with friends via FCs or random stranger battles. I would assume the same holds true for the versus mode. Don't quote me on that, though.
I actually might think about making this my first import ever if Hudson decides not to release it in the US, for whatever odd reason. Maybe Atlus could bring it over like it did with the first Bomberman Land Touch!
According to that trailer the new versus mode will feature 4-player, and classic battles will allow up to eight - single cartridge multiplayer FTW!
Yeah, I'm actually hoping that we'll still see it here in the US. I was not impressed by Bomberman Land Touch, but this actually looks quite worthwhile.
It'll be interesting to see what will come off the upgraded specs. It should definitely offer those developers who have been pushing the DS to do even better. I'm sure looking forward to the DSi titles.
Meh. I've thought about getting a PSP, but I guess I'll wait until they have a worthwhile update coming. Console loading times on a handheld just does not appeal to me at all. Handhelds need to be pick-up-and-play-friendly which the PSP certainly is not.
I love this game! I can't remember the last time I've laughed so much while playing a game. Oddball scenarios, simple but fun gameplay, and catchy tunes. Good times.
"...oks to provide a fun and unique experience in terms of both content and style, which is especially impressive considering the game was in development limbo a few months ago."
Not true. As I've read features elsewhere it actually gave those developers a great boost of time to continue polishing the game. They never really stopped working on the game while the property changed publishers.

Re: Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days Trailer
All I see is a bunch of emo kids! UGH! I would have been interested if they'd gone a different way in character presentation for this title.
Re: Review: Mighty Flip Champs! (DSiWare)
How about groveling?

Re: New Endless Ocean 2 Videos and Screens Surface
The original was quite nice, although I unfortunately didn't touch it that often, so I sold it. I'm probably going to pass on the second iteration.
As for co-op, from what I've read about the game it's still there, and it'll support WiiSpeak as well.

Re: Tales Of Monkey Island coming to WiiWare
The first episodic title I ever really cared for. Could be quite fun, even with dumbed down gameplay.
Re: Klonoa 3? Depends On Wiimake's Sales
Yeah, Klonoa is a really fun game, though I could live without the extremely kiddie cutscenes.
Re: Mega Man Meets Super Paper Mario
The co-op mode looks pretty neat.
Re: First Footage Of The Grinder Unleashed
Looks rather generic to me, so far. shrug
Re: Another Legendary Starfy Commercial
Looking forward to this one, and I expect to see that commercial tomorrow, seeing as I am going to watch Up then. Yes, I'm a Pixar nut.
Re: Hey, You Got Your Rhythm Heaven In My iTunes!
Meh. Actually found out about this a few days ago. I wasn't too impressed. Then again, visualizers in general don't do it for me.
Re: High Voltage Unveils Gladiator A.D.
It does sound interesting. More so than The Conduit, actually. I also would love to see Animales de La Muerte come back to life.
Re: Nintendo Confirms Metroid Prime Trilogy For Wii
Sold! I better trade in my copy of MP3 as soon as I can before the value plummets.

Do want! Especially with Intelligent Systems being the developer.

I'd prefer Marvel VS Capcom, but I suppose this'll do.

Giant Ant-Man's Revenge!
Re: Review: MotoGP (Wii)
Plenty of great racers? You mean the ones I can count on one hand? =P
Re: Details Seep Out on Cave Story, Night Game
Color me not at all surprised. I prefer them polishing the game rather than rushing it out the door.
I definitely like the mix and match option. Frankly, the updated music just doesn't do it for me so I'll probably go for new graphics, old music.
Re: Exclusive New A Boy and His Blob Screenshots
"A boy hugging his blob." - Awwwww!
Looks quite nice.
Re: Nintendo Life Exclusive - Bit.Trip Core E3 Trailer

No big loss on my part. Tecmo Bowl has got me covered still. That aside, I'm interested in seeing how Blood Bowl for the DS will turn out.
