I don't understand the "it was janky back in the day so this is fine, it's the same as it ever was" argument. They are charging people fifty quid, FIFTY QUID, for a product touted as a "definitive edition" that introduces a bunch of new issues to games that are almost 20yrs old. It's hilarious.
@IronMan30 What did I say that was antagonising? I just responded. The port is awful, it's all over the internet that it's awful. I just wanted you to know my heart didn't come into it. Cheers! No antagonism intended.
@KillerBOB Was waiting for this as I've seen your comments already on other GTA Trilogy articles recently. Have you played this release is my first question? Because I can tell you right now, as someone who bought and played all of these games on their original release days, and many, many time since, that they were 100% not like this. Cheers.
@SwitchForce Cloud gaming works well for certain games and it's an interesting proposition for the future. I think slow-paced stuff comes off better in the here and now though. The intense action sequences in this one seemed to cause all sorts of problems.
@EpicPieFace I reviewed Hitman 3 Cloud Version, was a far better experience, spent about twenty hours with it and had only minor stutters and resolution drops here and there.
@Scapetti It's fine. Sometimes we're in a right rush getting stuff out. I had a very, very quick go with S&P to confirm that the issue I'd read about was real. It was. However, I didn't take the time to try out the D-Pad for strafing. All good now and article is being amended.
@riccyjay Yes! You're right. I had a very brief go to try to understand the problem as pointed out in Eurogamer article but have gone back and the strafe works fine on d-pad when shooting. Article is being updated as we speak. My humblest apologies.
@nessisonett I've reported issues being raised and where applicable I've even noted that we didn't experience them or that they weren't as bad as were being made out!
@Chrona I'm not quite sure what you mean about not damaging him outside of counters. Your missiles damage him all throughout the fight, otherwise he'd never reach the counter stage or phase where he turns gold. If you don't attack him none of these things will occur. As far as the black orb is concerned, I've played through the fight a lot and it takes exactly four missile shots to take down. The Power Bomb is used for the gold orb but yeah, if you have enough spare, using it on the black orb would also work. It's a tough fight!
@MrDinosaur I was having trouble with the midair stuff until i started using Y+B, seems to work every time that way once you get used to hitting both buttons. Still mighty tricky though!
@aSmilingMan @aSmilingMan I think it is! It's got that Metroid tough difficulty in making progess at points but it has also got lots of nice touches to help, including a really useful map that guides you quite a bit when you need it.
@SwitchVogel Yeah it's a shame. I was really surprised by this one too, loved the first one loads but this improves on it in every way in terms of gameplay.
@xiao7 They said they had some on the overworld map, I didn't notice any, even jumped back in when I watched their video and I'm still not sure I'm seeing anything noticeable. The overworld parts of the game always do feel a little stodgier than other areas anyway so maybe I'm just not being sensitive to it. Everywhere else though, including the biggest boss fights in the game, I had zero issues.
@russell-marlow Sorry that you're disappointed, I really am, bit I had a lot of issues with the performance of that game. Massive resolution drops and unsteady framerates in a game of that age when you've got Bayo 2 running beautifully. It felt lazy to me. But, it's just my opinion!
@munstahunta Or, and hear me out, I reviewed the game in isolation, really enjoyed it and had loads of fun playing co-op with my kids and filed a 9/10 review! No conspiracies or systems!
@BloodNinja If you read the review as a whole, these aspects, which can be positives, or at least fine in some games, are absolute torture here because of other problems exacerbating the frustration. You won't die a million times in Dark Souls on your way to fight a boss because you fell off a ledge or disappeared down a hole you couldn't have possibly seen.
@ChromaticDracula Not sure how it performs on PlayStation, but on Switch I had to mark it down for wobbly performance. Probably would have picked up another point from me if not for those issues.
