*Price Whiners: no one is forcing you to buy this. If you want it, buy it. If you don't, don't buy it. Nintendo is not going to be hurting on sales. (You are paying 10 more than the cartridge usually costs. I would not want to cut my own cardboard for 10)
@NoxAeturnus Announcement January 2019 - New improved Switch with bigger screen, longer battery life, more storage.
No reason why they can't pop the Tegra 2 in the Switch once the price drops. Mobile tech is constantly changing and you can't compare Switch to NES or Wii.
@MFD Gamers go for games and they go for PS4. Like it or not, Nintendo primarily sells to the non-gamer crowd (casual gamer) and they buy because their friend has one. I've "sold" many people on the Switch just by playing in front of them. If it was just games, Wii U would have had better sales. You're right about other factors though - one important one that sells the Switch is 'ease of use'. For most casual gamers, they don't want to wire a big box up to their TV and mess with all the setup.
It is inevitable that the switch gets a plus edition in 2019. That would mean a price drop this year. The switch would get the newest Tegra to improve battery life and/or improve performance. The screen definitely needs to go to the bezels in size. Storage could be enhanced easily. All these could be implemented without a major structure redesign.
The Switch has a funny way of advertising itself. As more of these Christmas Switches make their way in public, there will be more demand for the Switch. Think about what makes you want to buy a console. If it's popular, you don't want to be left out.
Great game and great excuse to buy more joy con. The Winter 2017 window is basically the last 10 days of the year. They may as well had given a release date.
Switch is not in the same category of PS4 and XB1. It's a different device. If you have one, you know that. Did you know you can take the Switch out of the dock and carry it with you? I buy games for the Switch that I can see myself taking with me. If I want to play FIFA on the bus, I'm gonna buy this game. Go ahead and buy the PS4 version so you can be stuck in your stinky room surrounded by a mass of potato chip crumbs as you pretend like you're popular with these online faceless friends while I'm playing with real people that I can actually high five and talk with.
3% took a gamble and 3% will win big. Fast RMX made millions already I'm sure. Most developers want a safe, secure income. I'm sure developers are checking out the Switch now.
You guys are freaking out about Nintendo ramping up production. They are just increasing the rate. If they see the Switch not selling as well, they just need to halt production. No big deal.
In my opinion, the only way to draw in third party games is to put more consoles into people's hands so this production is needed. (Even if they have to lower the price)
The Wii remote had an IR camera in it. It just wasn't as powerful as the Joycon IR camera. It is totally possible to play Wii VC games with the Joycon and a battery powered light strip. Yes, the IR is a gimmick, but it is there for the potential of it doing the Wii thing. They WILL not say it for fear of the Switch being called the Wii U2.
It was mentioned that the Joycon disappear comfortably in the hand. What about with the strap attachment added? Can you notice the extra bulk? Would people want to use it for the extra size?
When developers use the HD Rumble, they will put it on the packaging - "With HD Rumble!" Developers will find out real quick, people will buy their game over others because of it. Also, people will want to experience their favorite game in HD from another system. HD will be standard in 6 years.
You didn't say anything about DLC. I can see them adding a mini-game to it every month just to keep you playing it. If this game is meant to be free advertising as you see it played in public, it should be pushed more with a lower price and bonuses.
When a movie is pretty bad, they hold back any previews to reviewers. People won't know it's bad until they shell out the money.
I suspect the UI is pretty slow or incomplete. I can't imagine any other reason why they wouldn't show the UI. Why would there be anything to "show off" in a UI?
Disappointed 1 2 Switch wasn't included. It would have been the Switch's biggest advertisement. Kids and adults playing a cool game in public and now everybody watching wants to get one. It's still gonna happen, but when people find out they have to shell out extra money, forget it. Nintendo failed to include the phenomenon inducing aspect of the Switch. Something everyone was expecting. Buying a switch for $300 means you have nothing to play except making a Mii character.
I'm OK with single screen because I know that will solve the biggest problems the Wii U had. 1) difficult to port/program 2) lower graphics and speed 3) price too high
The two player portable aspect is genius. Kids share playing with their friends, get addicted, then can't stop thinking about getting one. Kind of different than the loner 3DS. Having this as a kid would have so awesome with my friends.
You guys don't know families today. Parents don't buy their kids games to keep them entertained. They buy them games because the kids want them. The first Switch some bratty kid sees in public and it's over for that family until they get one. It's basically a given that every kid will have to have one. That's why they are marketing to adults only right now.

It looks like you have to trade in both Wii U and 3DS to get the $150 credit but separately they trade in $170. I'm confused.
