Re: The Definitive Guide To Wii U

MrWezzle

@Beta Microsoft has been doing something vaguely similar on Xbox, but not nearly as intuitive or fleshed out. This TVii thing really might have been Nintendo's best announcement this morning. The gameplay and announcements were great, but I think this is what caught the eye of a lot of people who don't particularly care to play Bayonetta's sequel. A very nice move by the big N.

In other news, I was kind of excited to hear about the "deluxe" online offer or whatever they called it. Sounds like you'll collect Club Nintendo-esque coins with each eShop purchase, but they'll be good towards anything in the shop! At least that's how my brain put it together. Do we have any other details on that system?

Re: Nintendo Download: 13th September 2012 (Europe)

MrWezzle

Nice, decent week for EU, but then again, you guys had a nice, decent week last week as well, while NA got decently farted on. Enjoy your Zelda and Metal Slug; I'm just gonna be praying for less North American farts this week.

Re: Toki Tori Flying Over To North American 3DS eShop This Week

MrWezzle

Well, this'll be the first thing I nab from the eShop since the 8-Bit Summer, which has long since fallen into myth. Nobody believes me anymore when I tell them about a time when we were getting two VC titles a week on our OG 3DSes. They laugh at me and call me a delirious old man. But I remember.

Seriously, though. Looking forward to this. Another Game Boy Color title is always welcome.

Re: The Legend of Zelda is Now 25 in The U.S.

MrWezzle

I think it's funny that the old Zelda logo up there has what looks like a rapier in it. There's no mistaking that thing for the Master Sword, or even for the sword Link uses in the game. That sucker was THICK.

Re: Nintendo Download: 23rd August 2012 (North America)

MrWezzle

@DarkEdi It hasn't felt like much of an 8-Bit month. I don't even plan on playing those Sonic games, but I'm still just as stumped as anyone as to why we haven't gotten them in the shop yet.

None of this week's games sound bad at all. Heck, I may purchase one or the other. But IIRC, we haven't gotten 3DS VC since the last week of July, and we're about to be done with August. A month without VC seems... wrong.

Re: Out Now: 3DS XL Goes Big in North America

MrWezzle

@Chriiis Yeah, that's how it worked at the Gamestop I went to. It helped that business on a Sunday was really slow, so I had no problem striking up a conversation with the guy and working out all the details. Bought it full price, came back and traded in my baby 3DS for the $100 off.

MAKE SURE you back up those SD cards before you transfer, guys. The system transfer works beautifully, but it's writing and rewriting your SD cards that can get a little weird.

Re: Out Now: 3DS XL Goes Big in North America

MrWezzle

Yeah, got to enjoy that charming little data transfer process about an hour ago and I'm about to give Kid Icarus a go on this big new screen. Only Nintendo could make me want to watch data transfer between devices.

Re: Nintendo Download: 16th August 2012 (North America)

MrWezzle

Yeah, it's hard to bolt for the downloadable NSMB2 when memory is already sparse in the first place, and if you've kept your eyes peeled, you've been able to snag a pre-order copy for a fair deal less than the retail price. I'd love to help pioneer Ninty's foray into the downloadable retail market, but not until there's a price difference between the two products. As it stands, the only thing you gain from downloading is a.) convenience and b.) a few more Club Nintendo coins. Downloading isn't quite worth it. Yet.

Re: Nintendo Download: 16th August 2012 (North America)

MrWezzle

Yeah, I'm having VC withdrawals. If I'd known that the blissful two-a-weeks of July would lead to an equal-but-opposite drought, I might have asked to just get one-a-weeks for two months instead of two-a-weeks for one. Would have kept my hope alive a little longer.

Re: 3DS XL Cradle and AC Adaptor Available 24th August

MrWezzle

I dunno, I really enjoy just setting my 3DS down in its cradle instead of potentially scratching it up by plugging it in every night. I feel it goes a long way to protect the outside of the system, and I'd be hard-pressed to get one for my 3DS XL, too.

Re: Capcom Hopes to Expand Fighting Game Audience

MrWezzle

@DarkKirby To be fair, Capcom does a pretty good job of supporting the FGC and a great many of its larger events and tourneys. I'm certainly no fan of their current streak of shoddy business practices elsewhere, but the FGC complains about them much less than the rest of us, and with good reason. Capcom knows it owes a huge part of its current success to SF4's resurrection of the genre, and there's a reason more and more people show up at EVO each year ready to compete in SF and Marvel. I just wish they were as enthusiastic about other areas. And yeah, let's not talk about their ridiculous DLC shenanigans.

Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue Four

MrWezzle

Wario Land and Marvel Pinball 3D, with a sprinkling of Star Fox 64 3D to taste. If things slow down a bit, I might give the ol' Mole Mania a try, though I'm still not sure it's my cup of tea. And since Steel Diver just went down to $4.99 on Amazon, I'm gonna be giving that a shot next weekend! Can you say "super-cheap Club Nintendo coins?"

Re: Nintendo Download: 26th July 2012 (North America)

MrWezzle

Wow, what a week. The eShop really has made the summer something great. So good to see it really jumping into gear. Week after week they've absolutely delivered, and on multiple fronts. It's a nice time to own a 3DS.

P.S. I'd forgotten just how much better KI:oMaM was than the original. Such a thoroughly enjoyable game from the start. I've never played Wario Land before (I know, right?), so this should be an awesome new adventure. Can't wait.

Re: Review: Kirby's Pinball Land (3DS eShop / Game Boy)

MrWezzle

Yeah, this is kind of what I thought when I took a moment to think about what a Kirby pinball game would be like. Not the most difficult, and certainly not the most lengthy. When the absolutely astounding Marvel Pinball 3D is sitting right alongside it in the eShop, a sub-par pinball game won't have the greatest chances. Plenty of other great VC titles coming out, I don't feel too bad skipping out on this one. See ya next time, puff.

Re: 8-Bit Summer Flips Out With Kirby Pinball Tomorrow

MrWezzle

Never played Pinball Land. Is it any good? From the sound of it, it wouldn't have longevity at all. Kirby is usually easy but fun, and easy but fun pinball sounds like it wouldn't take long to kind of burn out on. With Pit and Wario on the horizon, I'm not sold on Kirby. Can somebody fill me in? I trust you guys more than all those other internet people.

Re: Club Nintendo's Gold and Platinum Prizes Have Emerged

MrWezzle

@Samholy No, as long as you met your coin-collection quota for the year, the elite status prizes are free. You don't have to spend any coins on them, just select which one you want.

And your coins probably didn't reset because you already spent the ones that would have reset at the end of the Club Nintendo year. The ones you have are probably still good for a while.

Re: Talking Point: Another Look at the News - 6th July

MrWezzle

Heck yeah, I could enjoy seeing ol' Mewtwo back in the game. He was an exceptionally fun character to mess around with. Man, if they really could have a balanced Smash Bros. game, that'd be something incredible. The only time those games even came close to losing their fun factor is when friends start picking certain characters over their favorites because of the balance issues.
