Re: GameStop Opens Preorders for Majora's Mask Link Nendoroid and Fox McCloud Figures

@AlexSora89

Owning a small handful of these, I believe it's really just more or less the high production quality and the limited production run . I think there is a lot of touch labor involved with the finish, assembly, inspection and even careful packaging of these things. The figuarts and nendroids figures usually are made for only one short production run, so there is limited supply. If there is solid demand , they produce another run a year or so later, and repeat. I believe the Skyward Sword Link has gone through this for 3-4 cycles. $40 to $50 is semi reasonable...it they were cheaper they would be even harder to find, and the scalpers would be buying up all the cases to sell at triple the price on eBay.

Re: New York's Nintendo World Store Prepares for Major Revamp

Mbrogz3000

I'm very fortunate to be able to hop on the train and head into NYC every now and then for shows, comic con, dinner or just sightseeing (some times an overnight stay during the tourist off season). The Nintendo Store is a must see place on my list to visit just about every time. The best and most unique trinkets like the Mario and Zelda playing cards are usually by the cash registers. I must have like 10 T shirts from that place! I probably rotate through the store three times total to make sure I didnt miss anything.

Good to know it's gong closed to be closed for a month, can't wait to visit after the refurb!

Re: Video: Learn The Full Story Behind the Power Glove Courtesy of the Gaming Historian

Mbrogz3000

I spent my hard earned Christmas gift money on one of these when I was 10, and I still remember the feeling of disappointment and that this thing sucked, after about 3 or 4 days of trying to use it. It absolutely was a terrible gaming peripheral! But back then, we didn't have reviews or other means of vetting such a purchase. Nintendo Power basically was all we had, and at times it was a conflict of interest; it would still promote crappy games or accessories like the power glove.

I still have it safely stashed in my parents attic 330 miles away.

Re: Nintendo TVii Service Ends In North America On August 11

Mbrogz3000

I tried tvii several times and it seemed too convoluted for what it was intended. I'd say some people were even confused into thinking it could play the TV show right on the game pad. That was one problem. Another is just the battery life of the game pad...the thing always needs cradled, and can't be left on a coffee table thus its not everyone's go-to remote.

Tvii was a good concept, but poor execution and communication on Nintendo's part on describing how to use it or what it was even for.

I wish they would allow us to map Netflix to the Tvii button now. If the system is off, you just hit the Tvii button and it boots to Netflix, without one or two confirmations via quick launch.

Re: Interview: Warren Spector on the State of Nintendo, His Future, and How Epic Mickey Annoyed Core Gamers

Mbrogz3000

Epic Mickey kind of pulled my wife into gaming for just being a Mickey hero game... But as a non gamer she had a very hard time playing through the first level or section, or whatever structure it had. She played it over a long weekend, and I observed her muddling, offer her suggestions on how to proceed. She didn't make it far, and basically life priorities pulled her away from it. She asked about the second game when she saw it in the store, but I had to remind her she didn't play through the first one.

I spent an hour or so trying to play, and the gameplay was just horrible. Maybe the camera should have used more of a triggering or auto panning similar to super Mario Galaxy series. Instead it felt like the super Mario 64 camera... Which is still perfectly ok only for super Mario 64, but not any other titles especially from the advanced console generations. When you have to work around the gameplay faults to progress, the game isn't exactly fun.

That said, I could feel that this beautiful game had lots of entertainment potential, and it's just a shame it couldn't be delivered to everyone who are fans of Disney. Maybe a true and proper hd remix with gameplay fixes, for both games at the $30 pricepoint, could make this series into the experience it was intended to be.

Re: Review: Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures (Wii U eShop)

Mbrogz3000

Picked this up yesterday.. Great retro feel, I don't mind the platforming sections too much(I'm pretty good at playing mega man without any warm up time), but I'm not a fan of the skull block instant deaths. The skull blocks kind of serve as cheap filler for the levels. Some of the obstacle patterns also are cheap too, but there is normally a safe route to find and in some cases little safety pockets to stand in to avoid damage. The time in between deaths (MTBD??) is really fast... Less than a second. Be prepared to focus on playing the levels... The call of duty ADHD kiddies aren't going to be able to rush through this one. The game is extremely rewarding to get through. Music is superior 8 bit, humor is great, graphics are colorful. The game is a 7.5 to 8.... If it wasn't for the skull blocks, I would make it an 8.5 to 9. It's a must buy if your a fan of James' content AND you still have your childhood NES or SNES.

Re: Weirdness: Hands Up If You Knew About the Super-Easy Button Combination to Resume Progress in Super Mario Bros.

Mbrogz3000

I've known about this since when I first got my NES in Christmas 1987. If I recall (I can recall lots of childhood memories), I found this code on my own, without any help from anyone.

I will admit though - that I've never completely played through SMB to completion - I would always get started with it, then lose interest since I get bored. Even on my 3ds, I still do have patience to beat it. I've only beat it on NES Remix! Beat SMB2 on NES and SMB3 on NES, and SMW on GBA, but never SMB!

Re: Digital Foundry Ponders Next-Gen Hardware Options for Nintendo

Mbrogz3000

It would be cool for the game pad to show the real time video of the other gamers you are playing against. The tech is there, not sure their backbone could handle it though.

My gut feeling is that nintendo just doesn't have the In-house technical resource base (ie. engineers and software coders) that Microsoft and Sony has. And they are completely fine not spending more to obtain it. That's why basic tasks and features like porting all the wii vc titles over the wii u is taking forever, or allowing single purchased vc titles to run on both the 3ds and wii u.

Re: Retrospective: The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap - A Decade On

Mbrogz3000

I still have to complete this one on the Wii U - definitely a great zelda title. I basically have one or two more pieces of heart to find before taken on the final missions.

It's kinda silly I can play the free Zelda 4 swords adventures on my 3ds, but I can't play minish cap. Something definitely strange in not being allowed to play advance titles on the 3ds.

Re: Video: Teens Race and Talk Smack in Mario Kart 64

Mbrogz3000

I never had Mario kart 64 for my n64... I was 'too cool' back then for the Mario games( games were very very expensive back then as well). Now I realize that they were some of the best games of the era. The item block melody immediately takes me back to my freshman year at school when I would constantly hear that familiar chime echoing down the halls of my dorm. I regret never getting into that game back then. An mk64 loose cartridge is on my list of n64 games I want to physically own. The game is exceptionally fun to play on emulation with an authentic controller and mayflash adaptor, but I want the real thing on my n64.

Re: E3 2014: Zelda Wii U Looks So Great You Really Should Put It On Your Desktop

Mbrogz3000

I must be meant to be a true Zelda -Nintendo fan... I am in the UK for work this week, and after a day of issues and meetings (stuff that's not exactly fun), I casually got back to my hotel and clicked into the live nintendo e3 feed to see the zelda trailer just as it was revealed. I had no idea what I was watching until I read about it later, So weird, it's like I work hard in real life so that I can enjoy zelda in my limited free time.
