@HeadPirate Seriously, that game's success has had such a resounding effect on the gaming landscape. Its aesthetic has become what 3D Grand Theft Auto did to world design.

@mariomaster96 That's true, but then Kanto always gets the extra heaping of pandering. I'd hate to see another remake of Gold and Silver because it just wouldn't hold as much content or love as HGSS.

I'm really behind on this generation, I haven't bought in to SwSh nor do I plan to get these games yet. These ones have more of a chance than SwSh though. Might get them if I can find one on eBay in the near future.

@DeathByLasagna That perfectly demonstrates how these high street places still make money. People won't put in slightly more effort and spend slightly more time to get a lot more money, or else save a lot more.

A friend of mine was looking at prices for Pokemon games and he kept looking at high street resellers. I was like, dude, you can easily get these for like 40% cheaper if you just use eBay. 'Oh but I don't have an account and then I have to trust that the pictures are accurate and then if there's a problem I can't return it the same way I can to a store.'

I just told him to sit tight and let me get them for him. The difference for slightly more convenience is absurd.

@Don They should stay put, you'll just be scuppered if you ever need to redownload them I imagine.

There are other methods you could pursue to preserve your purchases, of course, but I cannot explicitly state them here, nor would I dream of endorsing it.

@Meteoroid I don't own a Wii U myself but it's not hard to imagine that you're very right about that, especially considering all the Switch ports like you say.

Man, imagine if they'd just never ported Breath of the Wild and it was left where it was on the Wii U. Crazy.

@VIIIAxel I think that's part of the beauty of Nintendo consoles - they all feel pretty timeless and like you can just keep going back to their libraries again and again. I'll be playing my 3DS for years to come.

@CactusMan It's amazing how tactical and challenging that game is even now, despite being stuck in the first generation's cards. I'd love them to do a sequel, I know there's that multiplayer one coming to soon but an actual RPG one like the GB version would be amazing.

Honestly though there's no games I've hated, as such. XY probably make me the most disappointed when I play them but every game has something to offer.

@Mauzuri I thought people's problems with ORAS were actually very similar to the situation we now have with these titles - that there is a definitive third version which went completely unused despite having big quality of life changes and improvements.

If anything I see ORAS getting flack for not changing enough.

Maybe this will teach more devs that the Switch isn't just a repository for ports. You still need to put the effort in same as you would for any other console.

I suppose the only answer to it is to make more product available at the time it goes live, but then if they overshoot they've got potential waste at a time when this planet needs anything but more waste.

First Switch title in a long time I feel like I could confidently buy into. I've grown to love SMT in recent years so glad to see this is continuing the trend of high-quality games under the banner.

For what it's worth, I don't think these contain Platinum content. At least, not yet. Now we know that the Pokemon series is happy to do paid DLC, I guess we'll find out.
Wouldn't at all be surprised to learn that they know people would pay half the price of the game again to get the Battle Frontier.

@BloodNinja IMO, if they're going to do this expanded Nintendo Online business, it should be a mainstay of the company moving forward and eventually have a library of games from across all kinds of systems. Then, when a new console enters the line up, the service just ports over and you can still play that back catalogue. It's not true backwards compatibility but it's better than nothing.

So many of these projects sound like they're missing the point of what makes Smash Bros a fun crossover title.

This game looks like something that somebody would present as their final project for a university coding degree.

I'm watching this one carefully. Bought SMT IV Apocalypse on a whim several years ago - eshop sale and I'd never dipped into SMT before - and I was blown away. Like played the absolute hell out of it for a few days on end.
The combat and progression always feels so deep in SMT games and for people who actually like a bit of grind and team planning, it scratches that itch that Pokemon doesn't always quite manage.

@Ttim3r That's actually a pretty good suggestion. And it's been established in the lore for years that certain Pokemon can even make stuff or use technology better than humans, so that's pretty plausible I guess.

Actually, that raises an interesting question about what Rotom was/did before the modern technology it possesses.
