Ahead of the launch of the upcoming Switch exclusive Shin Megami Tensei V next month, Atlus has released a new trailer.
Unfortunately, we can't show the English version here on Nintendo Life due to the age restrictions in place, so head on over to YouTube to check it out with subtitles. Of course, you'll need to be signed into YouTube to view it.
And here's some PR:
When a grisly murder scene in modern-day Tokyo blocks our protagonist’s walk home, an unplanned detour leaves him buried and unconscious.
He awakens in a new Tokyo, a wasteland ravaged by apocalypse now called Da’at...but before bloodthirsty demons can claim his life, a savior emerges, and they unite to become a mighty being neither human nor demon: a Nahobino.
With newfound power, the protagonist ventures through Da’at, an enigmatic realm filled with mythical deities and demonic tyrants in constant conflict for survival. Searching for answers, the protagonist must forge his own path in a battle between light and dark to dictate the fate of the world.
Pre-orders for the game are also now available, including a special launch edition for $59.99 USD. Shin Megami Tensei V will be released next month on 12th November.
What do you think of the latest video? Will you be picking up this game at launch? Leave your thoughts down below.

The “English version”…
Come on Altus.
More than any other, this is the game I've been dying to play since it was first teased in 2017.
Feels a bit surreal now that we're half a month out from launch.
Im kind of interested in this game, but if i didnt like P5 i feel like i wouldn't like this.
I've never played a SMT game, but I really want this. It looks really good!
@illmatic20xx
Depends what you don’t like about P5. Persona and SMT have some similarities, but there is LOT of stuff Persona has that SMT does not have and vice versa
I'm really glad Atlus is making an effort to advertise this game but I think I had enough trailers personally. I don't want to see TOO much of the game before I even play it.
Ready to kill God, bring it on!
@illmatic20xx hard to say. Other than battle mechanics, mainline SMT is nothing like Persona. Actually, Polygon did a review on it complaining about how much it WASN’T Persona 5
Hyped for this game! I still need to go back and finish SMT 3. I'll be pre-ordering from Best Buy to get that Steelbook case to go with the game!
Tbh looks pretty cool.
Battle remind me of those (or that one) Yu-Gi-Oh of game.
So hyped for this....Four years! And coming out before Pokemon too. Previews seem to be really positive too.
I'm watching this one carefully. Bought SMT IV Apocalypse on a whim several years ago - eshop sale and I'd never dipped into SMT before - and I was blown away. Like played the absolute hell out of it for a few days on end.
The combat and progression always feels so deep in SMT games and for people who actually like a bit of grind and team planning, it scratches that itch that Pokemon doesn't always quite manage.
@thiz how is this a wild card? SMT 3, 4 and 4a were all amazing games.
@illmatic20xx Very different tonally; smt has none of the dating mechanics and none of the filler, just always in combat and in dungeons save for the odd story segment.
@thiz Is it really? Most SMT games are solid RPG experiences, so I wouldn't call it a wild card. Based on what we've seen so far and some hands on previews from gaming channels, this game oozes quality. My bet is that this game will be at least an 8 on average, but probably higher.
If you haven't played a SMT game before, this title looks like the best and easiest way to get into the series.
My most wanted game this year realy hope it will be good!
So hyped for this!
@Ramen756 please don't mention that article ever again.... still got a severe headache from when I read it 😩
Love the trailers, but now I just want the game in my hands
I've seen enough, I was sold from the announcement trailer in 2017.
This is what I bought a Switch for! Can't wait
I'm still avoiding all videos for this since the very first one. It's my most hyped game of the year and my preorder has been in for months. Finally we're almost there!
Never played a SMT game before, but very excited for this one. It looks dark AF and the turn-based combat looks super engaging. Also happy to hear it’s typically heavier on the combat gameplay, as the life sim aspects of Persona are what keep stopping me from playing that game.
@illmatic20xx I hated P5, despite loving the previous entries. SMT is much darker, much more grindy and has far far less of the social mini game content. Structurally, it's not too different (gameplay wise) from Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth. Take from that what you will.
Both Nintendo Store and Amazon don’t deliver for a few days after November 12th.
I guess I’ve waited years, so what’s a few more days. But the wait is getting harder now it’s getting close and I can see people in my friends list already playing review copies.
Been delaying my pre-order but I might have to do it tomorrow as the release date nears. Right on time as I finish my Nocturne playthrough this weekend!
At this point they're just spoiling the plot
