Re: Review: The Outer Worlds - Obsidian's Fallout-Style RPG Is Worth A Look On Switch

LethalX08

@mesome713 Game is the same but as everyone seems to be nitpicking about the graphics, it would add some clarification to the situation.

If all the reviewers & Digital Foundry played the build given to them with the only version available which is version 1.00, the devs have already said a day 1 patch will be released that adds in the hi res textures among other improvements but now a lot of people won’t get to see those changes as they’ve already written the game off.

The reviewers & DF could quite possibly be playing a build of the game that the public may never play themselves since you’re more than likely always going to have the latest patch installed.

Reviewers & DF should still judge the game with what they have at the time but clarify if it’s with this “day 1 patch” that supposedly improves the game or without.

@RasandeRose

Actually reading through their review again it isn’t.

“ Of course, these are all pretty much expected sacrifices in bringing a game of this nature to Switch at this point and, especially in handheld mode, it really is quite surprising just how well The Outer Worlds looks and feels to play; there are virtually no framerate issues even in the most chaotic battles or wide-open spaces and, even though the graphics have been hugely dialled down, there's still plenty of detail in environments and NPCs look almost as good here as they do on other platforms. A day-one performance patch is planned, so things are only likely to improve.”

That suggests they played the game (& everyone else played the game) with version 1.00.

My copy just arrived. Cart is v1.00. There is a patch immediately available (hasn’t yet downloaded so don’t know version number).

Once that’s finished i’ll edit this with the version number & size. I’ll try to give it a go later today & see if it looks any different to the current footage floating about.

Edit 1: it finished. now v.1.01 & clocks in at 3.9GB. So i don’t know if this is the day 1 patch (as they said around 6GB) or not. Will need to play the game & see.

Re: Nintendo Confirms That Around 160,000 Accounts May Have Been Hacked, Personal Info Possibly At Risk

LethalX08

Nintendo Life, can i make a suggestion to clear up more confusion (since Nintendo is awful at making it clear).

Whenever you’re giving the 2FA steps, make it clear that Google Authenticator ISN’T the only option (Nintendo does say this but it’s pretty much blink & you miss it).

You can use much better alternatives such as Microsoft Authenticator & Authy, both of which offer cloud backups incase your device breaks or you upgrade your phone, something Google Authenticator does not.

Only say this as on reddit, here, gamefaqs etc, one of the common complaints i see is people moaning about Google Authenticator’s lack of backups if your device dies or that it’s the only thing you can use for Nintendo Account 2FA (which isn’t true).

Re: Nintendo Confirms That Around 160,000 Accounts May Have Been Hacked, Personal Info Possibly At Risk

I wanna add something even though Nintendo have confirmed they’re removing the ability to log in to Nintendo Account via NNID.

In the NNID settings menu on 3DS (likely on Wii U but can’t confirm), on page 3 there is something called “Access from PC and Other Devices”. If you hit restrict that then prevents you (and others) from logging into NNID on as it says PC, Smartphones & before Nintendo killed it, the Switch.

I’d still enable that so it locks down that legacy account system even more to your own personal consoles (3DS & Wii U).

And of course for Nintendo Account, 2FA, strong password, usual stuff. 2FA your email aswell. 2FA everything.

Re: Exclusive: QubicGames Reveals Five New Games Coming To Switch In 2020

LethalX08

Godfire & Real Boxing i faintly remember from iOS. I think there were well received but can’t see myself bothering with either on Switch (only dabbled in both on iOS).

Curious if they’re doing mobile ports for other publishers (a lot of their games seem to be from iOS), i wouldn’t mind them porting over the 2 Aralon games & Ravensword: Shadowland (all the same developer). Touted as “Elder Scrolls on mobile” which is kinda accurate but lowish budget, all 3 are great adventure games that give off a ES: III Morrowind vibe & for Qubic’s usual price they’ll be a steal on Switch for the amount of content each game provides (plus controller support would be lovely).

Re: Saber Interactive "Working Hard" On An Update For The Witcher 3 On Switch

LethalX08

It’s likely to fix the language issue that’s been broken since version 3.4 (EU) & 3.5 (US). It’s a major complaint on the CD Projekt forums.

TLDR the game (without day 1 patch) included all the languages found in the other versions, 3.4 removed them for whatever reason only leaving English & i believe French & German, 3.5 for the US version re added in Spanish (while also supposedly messed with graphics which people liked so might be AA off), EU never got 3.5, fans are wanting the language packs that they’ve said should be there (since it includes all DLC from the other versions) but CD & Saber both remained extremely quiet, annoying the fans.

It’s a mess of a situation & lack of communication since the problem was reported (which was day 1) is embarrassing. I get that Saber is only small & have other projects but noticing way too many devs (& publishers) these days all having awful PR & communication skills.

Re: Koei Tecmo Must Pay Capcom More Than $1.3 Million After Patent Infringement Court Battle

LethalX08

2014 date is funny as that’s around the time it was reported they only had around 100 million yen left in the bank, were looking at bankruptcy & also a buyer after a poor last gen performance & failures & a poor start to this gen.

It’s one of the reasons why they had to get Sony’s backing for the development of Street Fighter V & make it a console exclusive (without their usual arcade version), if they didn’t they would have went under.

Luckily they turned things around. SFV was a success after it’s rough start, they revitalise the Mega Man series, Resident Evil got a second wind, Marvel.. had another game.

They still don’t need to hold this grudge they’ve had with Koei for years but whatever, i’d assume Koei’s legal time will appeal the decision so we’ll have to wait even longer to see if it gets overturned.

Re: Talking Point: Xenon Racer Is Just The Tip Of The Iceberg For Falsely Advertised Games On Switch

LethalX08

I know you mentioned Doom & Wolfenstein for showing the Switch version in screenshots, muddy visuals & all (since Panic Button is likely proud of their achievement of actually getting both games on the console).

I’d like to mention one other game. Feral Interactive’s port of Grid: Autosport. It’s the mobile port but from the recent trailer it received it doesn’t have the graphical enhancement packs the latest iPhones/iPads can get that greatly enhanced the visuals but did they show that version ? No they showed what could be considered a rough port visually.

However for people like me still wanting a racing game on Switch, don’t let the visual put you off just yet. If the framerate is great (should be as even lower end mobile versions ran great) then it’s another case like Doom/Wolfenstein, looks ugly but is great.

Re: Hori's D-Pad Joy-Con Controllers Are Eating Up That Precious Switch Battery Life

LethalX08

Well then... I wonder how a fix would be implemented since it’s not a official joy con, can’t see a firmware update being issues via Nintendo servers.

Mine is on the way along with my Rockman X LC1 & Rockman X LC2 Switch copies so now i’m not sure what to do, could return it (that’ll be a pain), wait it out or see if my local import shop wants it & take the loss.

Re: Nintendo UK Is Asking For As Much As £180 To Repair Cracked Switch Consoles

LethalX08

This isn’t a Nintendo UK issue, it’s a issue with their 3rd party repair centre.

In the US repairs are done in house while here they’re outsourced to a company known to try their best to weasel their way out of doing it under warranty.

I’m currently dealing with the idiots with my Left Joy-Con. Had the common disconnection issue when playing docked along with a issue with the Joystick, they claimed it was just a operating system issue & that wasn’t covered under warranty & i would have to pay i think £37 (around that).

After a stern phone call pointing out two things:
1. It’s not a “operating system” issue as the Joy Con firmware is up-to-date & the issues are a Joystick reading inputs while in neutral & the disconnection issue which is due to the lack of conductive foam

2. I provied proof of purchase which since i got it from Nintendo UK’s store grants me 2 years of warranty rather than the standard 12 months

After that they quickly gave in & “fixed” it. Got it back & despite replacing the joystick.., it was more broke than before, reading inputs from more directions this time & getting stuck in the left direction.

Sent it back & no weaseling their way out yet but still waiting to see if they’ve screwed up the JoyCon once again.

Point is, if you’re within warranty, you haven’t dropped it & know it’s due to the heat, just calmly argue your case to a senior & keep pestering them.
Reddit has quite a few posts about UK people having many issues about these useless gits. Some went as far as complaining to CEOs/Higherups etc of NoUK/NoE since there was someone handing out their emails.

Re: Enter a Crazy Code to Unlock a New Character in the Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden Demo

LethalX08

Wish he was playable but that unblockable kick while a bit underwhelming allows for some great combo extenders.

@Lukaz2009 i entered the code fairly slowly & it worked so no need to be super quick. Should still work if you took your time.

@Pixel-Perfect Yep. Technically this is their normal SS1 form as it sounds like once they turned into SSG it's only a temp form, their body absorbs the godly essences & it greatly enhances their base form so they don't have to transform unless it's required. When they do instead of the standard yellow hair SS, it's now blue due to the godly power they absorbed. I think they are using the SSGSS name just to seperate from the standard SS form (Which Gohan, Goten & Trunks still have) but to Goku & Vegeta, SSGSS is now their normal SS form & SSG is technically their base form.
(This is what i've gotten from the BoG movie when Goku lost god form as his SS form was on par to SSG, even Beerus commented about this. RoF seems to hint at this aswell so waiting for Super to confirm or deconfirm the theory)

@TheActualGold Him & Goku were students under Whis when Frieza attack & it's currently the only appearance of SSGSS so makes sense that they'd were the clothes from the movie as they never changed clothes when they returned to earth.
