Great one if you have a Blueretro adapter for your GameCube as well, assuming it will get updated for this controller. Which is a pretty good one to assume.
Street pass was absolutely golden, it was a great way to have some short on the go games with you that were actually activated by taking it with you. When checking it in public, I had people coming to me and talking about they just got my SP as well.
The crying about being locked out of content is childish, the content it had itself wasn't all that exciting, it was all about the anticipation and the feeling you met someone like minded. It only was made for people that were able to interact and only really did something for you if you did.
I had trouble getting them at my city as well, but going on vacation got more than enough, which gave it an extra special thing to a vacation.
Cool part is, it will work forever, no cloud stuff needed, it just works.
Nintendo is as much allowed to patch things out as the customer wants to mod their products. Legal is from the point of the law and the law doesn't prohibit either way.
It is now clear that your opinion is that no one should mod their consoles and you are not agreeing with it being legal while it is. That doesn't change the way it is though.
You seem a little black and white on this topic, I own forty legal games, all newly bought. Still I modded my 3DS. One of the best features unlocked because of it, is to be able to run high clock/L2 mode on all games on my new 3DS XL. Finally Rayman 3D runs like it should, was a bloody slideshow without that clock/L2 mode.
Nintendo should indeed get paid, but they also should fix certain issues, which they do not, so I fix those myself on my own legally bought hardware.
That is what I legally choose to do, if you do not want to go that route, all fine with me. But again, do not spread misinformation just out of spite and only to try and get your way. That is an immature and a non constructive way of discussing. Doing that will make people distrust you and will only be counter productive to what you are trying to achieve.
The reason everyone is responding directly to you, is because you are trying to push your view of (not)modding to others by spreading lies. Someone asked if the update would brick their 3DS if modded, you said "yes" while it isn't true. Then you say it is illegal, while it isn't. Piracy though, is illegal.
I respect that you do not mod yours, but do not spread misinformation because you do not want others to do what they want. That is what basically is what people have issues with and do not respect about your behavior here.
It is a bit of a paradox, if you are not worried about it, you will probably get it. If you are worried about it, you will probably prevent it from happening. Still OLED is a very nice screen to look at, but it doesn't come without concerns.
I loved those rewards! Got a few too many of them, but I haven't seen a few more favorites mentioned here, namely the Mario Kart Cups! I have the Shell and Mushroom Cups, very nice items. Also got the Game and Watch Ball and Luigi's Mansion Diorama.
Glad I did that back in the day, because those special items will never return it seems.
I would very much like to know the dimensions of the Kart itself, since that will make a big difference to know if I will buy it or not with my couch and all that.
@BenAV You can do all the motion stuff with the pro controller as well as the Joy-Con no problem. Still, it is a very strange combo indeed. A nice deal, but a bit random.
@Medic_Alert I agree, this has been one of the worst consoles when it comes to hardware quality. I think the biggest part of the issue is that Nintendo had to quickly come up with a solution to the bad sales of the Wii U and cut a few too many corners. I am not defending that of course! Just think this is the biggest contributor of the issues.
@status-204 Yes, some things are locked, if you want the tea-cup variations for instance, you cannot get it without having other people buy them for you and trade them with you.
@status-204 and that is why you happily pay for NSO. This is exactly what I meant, for at least AC we should not have to have NSO. Bought it, because I want some things done, but don't agree with it.
@ThomasBW84 If you would go with: "Nintendo Releases a Sneak Preview of New HOME Menu Themes for the 3DS" It would be a lot clearer already, not that hard to come up with
@onlyaman Simplistically put that is how it is, and it is not my understanding, it is a proven fact by many knowledgeable people. If one relay point in a certain chain of brand (e.g. McDonalds) doesn't work as a relay, I am afraid that no other relay point of that chain of brand will work. As they all use the same setup.
@onlyaman SIGH SIGH Nintendo doesn't have to flip a switch, so you clearly still do not understand anything about how it works at all. Nintendo cannot even "flip a switch" to have them work or not work. But I am sure you will never understand why....
@onlyaman
Okay, you really seem to miss the point here, the reason people can spoof is because that is the way relay points work. Your 3DS sees the NZone (it has to be the right SSID name, unsecured and has to work without accepting any agreement), then it finds that NZone's MAC address and contacts Nintendo's Relay servers over the internet (this is why it cannot have any accepting agreement policy on it). and sends your data under that specific MAC address to the Nintendo servers somewhere on the internet. Then the next person comes and finds that exact same MAC address and takes your data from the servers and sends his back in. So, every NZone (if setup correctly) automatically became a relay station. It isn't rocket sience if your NZone's do not relay it means that either no one else besides you passes it, or it is not setup correctly (SSID name wrong, secured or you need to accept an agreement).
It seems you do not understand or want to understand why I posted that link, it explains how the relay points work. If you actually tried to understand that part, then you would have come to the conclusion that for a relay point to work optimally it will have to have a completely open internet and it does not actually store data itself. If after this you still do not understand it, then it is no use explaining it any further so it seems.
@onlyaman Yes, the only thing that can be the problem is that the internet itself isn't open. If you need to accept some kind of agreement, it won't work, unless you and other people actually accept the agreement and leave your data on that MAC address.
@onlyaman Every Nintendo Zone automatically is a relay point, nothing has changed at the NZones theirselves, just serverside of Nintendo and your 3DS needs to be updated.

@JessieAC I tried it all the time, never worked, was also stated that you couldn't. It only started to work since the last update.

You can also skip Kapp'n his singing after a short while now after the update. Very welcome change.

Only gem I have and should definitely be on the shelf of any big collector like he is, is the Virtual Boy. Very cool awkward console!
