Re: Talking Point: Everyone Has A Bad Game They Love, So What's Yours?

JessM87

One game that seems to be universally hated but I love is Donkey Kong 64. Each stage was truly unique, the music was memorable, and each playable character and boss fight brought something different to the game. My understanding is that most people have a problem with the game being repetitive having to go through the stage multiple times with each character to get their respective collectibles. I understand that sentiment but I feel that was intended to make you play with all 5 characters and not just use the same one for everything. This could have easily been a one character DK game and that would have fixed that problem in being able to collect everything with one person but I feel like the variety of characters and their unique abilities kept the game from getting stale. This wasn’t a bad game, it’s a collectathon just like Banjo Kazooie, but it also has more characters to play as.

Re: Here Are The Top Ten Best-Selling Nintendo Switch Games As Of June 2020

JessM87

@GameOtaku I’m not positive, but I’m fairly sure that BOTW sales/copies for Wii U aren’t being accounted for in this total. That might be a factor in why this list reflects a surprisingly lower sales number in comparison to the other games that were all released after it, considering BOTW was the launch game for the Switch. I don’t think it would sell more than MK, but I think it definitely could be closer to AC sales numbers, if not, right behind it above Smash.

Re: Poll: How Do You Pronounce These Nintendo-Related Words?

JessM87

@Kang81 Hahaha, I thought my Grandma was the only one who ever mistakenly pronounced it like this. She knew this was the perfect punishment for me and my siblings as kids when we did something wrong, "No Intendo" she would say in a singsong voice with glasses at the tip of her nose and index finger wagging back in forth in a no gesture.

Re: Nintendo Will Reportedly Fix Joy-Con Drift For Free And Refund Customers Who Paid

JessM87

@Brutchie-bear The majority of us have ONE set of joycons (that work without drift) at any given time and those who play regularly, eventually get the drift after heavy or daily usage. You and many others who say we're complaining over a nonexistent issue or just assuming the majority of people are lying or lazy, reckless adults also unsurprisingly, have several sets of controllers and haven't experienced it yourself...yet.

You yourself stated you have 5 sets and not one of them has had the drift defect, think about why that hasn't happened...I would rotate my joycons too every time I played the Switch if I had more than one set. Not to mention, it would also take a lot longer for the problem to start, much longer if you don't play it regularly.

And no, my original set and the replacement set haven't had the same issues because I've abused my joycons or haven't properly taken care of them less than you have. They're well taken care of and only used by a sanitary and clean hands girl.

I don't want money or reimbursement or free joycons because I know the problem isn't gone with a new set, it's just delayed until I've used it enough and it starts up all over again. I want redesigned joycons that I can purchase without having to worry about a drift issue. I know that controllers won't last forever but I shouldn't HAVE TO buy a new set once a year because the previous isn't working the way it should. Every couple of years understandable, but not EVERY year.

You don't truly understand the situation and frustration until you have the problem yourself, you know it's not because you've abused your Switch, and people are calling you a liar or berating you that you don't take care of your consoles.

Re: Class Action Lawsuit Officially Filed Against Nintendo For Switch Joy-Con "Drifting" Issues

JessM87

@shadow-wolf EXACTLY THIS! I don't want money, I don't want reimbursement for three sets of joycons that all eventually had the same problem. I want it brought to Nintendo's attention that something is seriously wrong with these joycons and it needs to be fixed so I don't have to keep buying new ones every year or resort to fixing it myself or making do with games where characters move on their own making them difficult and frustrating to play.

One person tweeting at Nintendo isn't going to do anything, it gets brushed off and is considered a defective fluke, fifty people won't stand out because they probably didn't care for them properly and some were indeed defective, but a class action backed by thousands of people will speak for itself and show that they need to fix their controllers. We don't want to keep replacing these when they should last a couple of years minimum, with daily or frequent use.

As much as I love Nintendo, they're not going to pay attention until their hand is forced to take another look at the problem after enough people bring it out into the open without the fear of being ridiculed that they are overreacting or simply "don't take proper care" of their consoles.

To the people saying we're throwing a tantrum over a non-existent problem: If you haven't personally experienced it, it doesn't mean that the thousands of people upset at this are lying or throwing a fit over nothing. I'm going to assume you don't play your Switch very often and long enough to where you start to see the eventual problem. If you do play frequently, I'm going to assume you have a collection of different colored joycons that you rotate so one set doesn't get enough usage to where you see the flaw come to light, just as you're assuming I let it get dirty and don't take care of my console. Controllers won't work forever but they do last for some time and it's not supposed to be less than a year before you have to buy a new one.

It should be common knowledge that if no one speaks up, the problem doesn't get fixed. People are speaking up now for the benefit of everyone and so YOU don't have to deal with this flaw when they release more colors and new Switch hardware down the line.

None of us expect money, or reimbursement or stupid coupons, the law firm is gonna get paid and I don't care how much of a payday they get because they're doing the work for all of us "little people/whiners complaining over a non-existent drift problem" who just want to be able to play their games comfortably and without frustration because the camera keeps shifting around or going in a circle or characters that move on their own. I want the problem addressed by Nintendo and fixed for future Switch joycons, that's it.

Re: Bravely Default Twitter Account Confirms A New Game Is In Development

JessM87

@Aozz101x Why would you give it away?...

I know the last part of the game everyone hated and I get why, but I feel like people still shouldn't bring down the rest of the game because of one flaw that was totally optional once you figured out what was going on. Bravely Second was a great sequel in its own right but I couldn't stand Yew. I tried to like him but his character annoyed me. It's definitely worth playing though and even improves upon the original with making jobs more balanced which I liked. Whether it's an updated port that I can play on the tv or a whole new game, doesn't matter to me. I'll take either or both.

Re: Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remastered Will Be Digital-Only In North America

JessM87

@dleec8 Because I like knowing that my games are safe should I ever have to get a new switch years from now when we're on the next hardware. I like having the boxes because they're nice to look at and display, not for friends or family, but for myself. I like having physical proof that I own this game, not just renting as long as servers are still maintained. I like and prefer physical because that is what makes me happy and works best for me. We have different preferences and ways of doing things. There is no right or better way. There's a your way and there's a my way. What works for me won't work best for you, that's why people expect and want options if the company has the means to do so, which they do and should, because physical is still the majority consumer's preference and this isn't a mediocre game that they'll lose out on more money by putting it on cartridge and in a case.

Now, you have people who would have bought it otherwise or were on the fence about it closing their wallets and saying nope. That isn't good for either of us, physical or digital buyers, that shows SE poor sales or that they broke even with little profits. That happens, then they'll decide porting or remaking old games for new consoles isn't worth the time or money to give the same treatment to the others in the series that they haven't thought about yet. That or they are using these games as a trial to see how well they sell on a different console and if most physical buyers decide to pass on these ports because it's only on eshop, digital buyers won't be getting any new ports either.

Re: Rejoice, Soon You'll Be Able To Use Your My Nintendo Gold Points On The Switch eShop

JessM87

@Kiyata Nobody goes out to buy a brand new system just because it’s “NEW” hahaha, BOTW on your tv or on the go was what made people pull out their wallets.

Nothing wrong with waiting to buy a new console and nice that you got it on a sale but don’t place yourself on this high pedestal because you were “smarter” than everyone else in waiting for the library to build up and for sale prices. Plenty of people did that and what works for you doesn’t mean it’s superior. Only you can decide what a game and system is worth to you.

I decided it was worth paying $321 for a new console and BOTW (with Odyssey later In the year) because the trailer sold me on it, LoZ as a franchise has never let me down, and because, to me personally, it wasn’t worth waiting for a price drop or sale.

Neither of our preferences is better than the other, it’s how bad you want it and if you can afford the investment, or in some cases if you can sacrifice other things to put up the money for it. What works best for you, is for you, but it doesn’t make you better than anyone who decided paying full price was worth it to them.

Re: Thank Samus, Metroid Prime 4 Has Been Confirmed For Nintendo Switch

JessM87

I legit made an account for this site after a year of lurking in the background, reading articles and comments, and it never fails that someone brings up Metroid on every article.

Me, I don't care for it but I'll hope for a new game for its fans. The logo was a big thing. It's happening. They listened. You got what you asked for. Now you're complaining because there wasn't a trailer? Because it's still in development? Because it's a year or a couple for it to be released? Cut the entitled attitude and simply be happy that it's coming. That's all that matters. Most of you complaining have whined before that a simple announcement would be more than enough. Well...the announcement was there. It's confirmed.

Be happy. Be grateful. Be courteous. Be excited. Something positive. Don't go looking for new reasons to be upset about, considering this has been something you've been begging for. You'll be just fine until they can get a trailer and release date out. Rant over.
