Re: Poll: Which Nintendo Switch Online Console Do You Play The Most?

Grossly-Incandescent

SNES. I played the incredible, perfect game: Super Metroid for the first time just before Dread came out. I also tried to make Link to the Past my first Zelda game. I objectively think it's a great game but I keep finding myself distracted by other games. Anyway, SNES all the way. It's great to play the franchises I skipped back in the day.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 15th)

I'll be Praising the Sun all weekend, with my first Sorcerer build playthrough, and continueing my first deep dive into pvp, which is still pretty active on Switch. 500 hours in now and still finding new ways to enjoy this game. I could play other games (i'm at the final boss of Dread and partway through Doom, both of which I really like) but then, Dark Souls is the Ultimate Greatest Game of All Time... and is seemingly endlessly replayable, so.

I just read there is a possible Rogue Squadran 4 on the way! I don't know much about the studio (crytek), but I hope it brings us back to rogue squadran II feels. And there is also possibility of goldeneye. I'm more excited for these throwbacks. With nes, snes, turok and jedi outcast, plus these two possible, my younger days may finally be realized on the switch! Onle one rumour missing is of course eternal darkness. Other than that I'm excited to see what metroid prime 4 brings. I never played primes but I've been getting into metroid this year thanks to dread.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Open-World Games

@WallyWest I completely agree that it's not an open world game like those mentioned. Can you post the From quote source? There are plenty of debates online about the open worldness of dark souls. I also think it's a metroidvania! But I don't really ascribe to hard boundaries between these genres, and clearly dark souls both creates and defies "genre" in different ways. My point is merely that it's worth mentioning here. Most Nintendo life articles have a "well this doesnt fully count but we better mention it" game.

@WallyWest Well, only in the sense that you have be 'gud' and know where to go before you can wander. from Firelink you can pretty much go anywhere if you choose the master key. Yes the paths are linear but they are circular and therefore pretty much open. Regardless of strict classifications, it's hands down worth mentioning, considering it is one of the best games ever made, it's arguably open, and it's on switch.

@Einherjar The AI can't predict my next move? Even I can't do that! Lol. Hardly seems like a fair criticism, unless you know of AI that can do that in a game....
I played my first Metroid game just a few months ago, so I don't think one can say I like Dread because of nostalgia goggles. I do think it's interesting how differently we see the interactions, though. I can see why you don't find then as fun as I do.

@Einherjar horrendously slow? Lol. I spent most of my time ducking, dodging, weaving jumping, sliding running (yes a little cloaking but that was tense af too) until that sweet sweet moment when you get to face off with your charged up canon in third person mode...honestly one of my favorite experiences in games ever. I loved the feeling of escaping clean, and finishing each EMMI was such a joy. Not to say your experience isn't valid, but the EMMI are my hands down favorite parts of the game. I honestly can't think of a more complex AI in an enemy outside of what I hear the Alien game offers.

Re: Talking Point: Switch Vs. PS5 And Xbox - Nintendo Preps For The Holidays With A New SKU And European Price Cut

People often comment that only those who play handheld will benefit from the OLED, but that is the opposite of how I feel. I pre-ordered it because I want to play more handheld... always been a bit bothered by the bezel, audio, and screen quality of the switch. I'm hoping the OLED doesn't disappoint! I just wish they hadn't price dropped the switch before I posted it for sale!

low-key critiquing the Switch here: "highly recommends the pre-installed game Astro's Playroom - noting how it acts like a PlayStation archive. He's also happy about how he can play his existing PS4 library on Sony's new system and ended up upgrading his copy of Watch Dogs Legion, stating how the graphics looked better...not quite as impressed with the size of the system's internal storage compared to the PS4 and mentioned how he hopes stock shortages will be resolved soon, so more people can experience the system".

Re: Review: Metro 2033 Redux - A Truly Astonishing Switch Port Of A Genre Classic

I have this on steam and loved it. It's superior in my opinion to Last Light (but Last Light theme track is amazing). The steam redux was a bit janky to me. There are so many actions that configuring a steam controller was kinda nightmarish, though worth it in the end. There is something about just turning on the switch and playing that makes me purchase all my old pc games here.
