@johnvboy That was in Wild World and the Wii game. In New Leaf, K.K. Slider only played at the club, though he could visit the cafe for coffee occasionally.
@ItalianBaptist Multiple takes and variations are usually done in voice recording, and then they pick from those takes which ones to use. They probably decided to use different takes originally meant for Smash 64 for Melee for whatever reason.
Also remember that the voice clips had to be compressed in order to fit on an N64 cartridge, so some voice clips may sound different because of that.
@RPGamer Not trying to be rude, but some of this stuff was found in the game's data, so of course the dataminer was right. It's more a question on when the data will be used, if at all.
Also Leif is male, and Reese and Cyrus have been married since New Leaf. You're celebrating their wedding anniversary in New Horizons. I'm actually kind of surprised they don't appear to have a kid yet, like Kapp'n, but who knows, they may or may not.
@Incarna If it was like in the older games where you couldn't tell it was fake until you gave it to Blathers, yeah it would not be a good thing.
But in New Leaf you could actually tell if it was fake or not by looking at it, such as the fake Mona Lisa's hands being in a different position or the fake Venus de Milo having long hair instead of short. I suspect and hope the mechanic in New Horizons will be more like that, since it's less frustrating.
@Susurrus Yes, Tanukichi is Tom Nook, but Redd's Japanese name is a bit similar.
Redd's Japanese name is Tsunekichi (romanized as Tunekichi in the data), from "kitsune" since he is actually a kitsune like Tom Nook is actually a tanuki.
@BlueOcean I still don't know. You can't exactly claim royalties for the name "Audie", and besides the name (which is only in the English and Dutch versions) villager Audie does not resemble the real lady in any way.
Besides, as I mentioned in a previous comment, there are characters with names that are much more obvious references to actually trademarked things that are more likely to get them sued, but they haven't been. The Jim Henson Company and Disney has not come after them because of the mouse villager Rizzo, for example.
@MrBlacky No. She's a red wolf with sunglasses on her head wearing a pineapple pattern dress.
Audie uses the same generic peppy personality that all the other peppy villagers like Cheri and Rosie have, so alot of dialogue is reused between them. Her catchphrase is "foxtrot". She doesn't talk about how Filbert is her favorite or say how she spent thousands of hours in a game. And I doubt the real Audrey says things like "totes" and "legit" or wants to be a pop star.
Now if they intentionally designed her to look like an older lady, wearing the same big glasses, pink shirt, and jeans the real Audrey was seen wearing, and even making her a squirrel since Filbert is her favorite, THEN there would be cause for concern.
Audie in Animal Crossing just shares the name, and even then it's just the name of Audrey's player character in her game. Wolf Audie bares absolutely no resemblance to real Audrey otherwise. If it is supposed to be a reference, it's just a small one not worth freaking out over.
@jebug29 I don't know. There are a few characters with more obvious references still in Animal Crossing that are more likely to get them sued such as:
Ed - A horse, a reference to the TV show Mr. Ed, which starred a talking horse named Ed.
Jeremiah - A frog, a reference to the opening line to the song "Joy to the World" by Three Dog Night ("Jeremiah was a bullfrog")
Kevin - A pig, a reference to actor Kevin Bacon.
Rizzo - A mouse. Named after Rizzo the Rat from the Muppets.
They don't seem to be afraid to have those references. Why would they be afraid to use name that even if it is a reference to the lady herself, is still just a name that no one can claim ownership for?
And "using a likeness" does not mean using just a name. it means using their face, such as Norman Reedus in Death Stranding. I'm pretty sure Animal Crossing Audie and real Audrey don't look the same.
And the whole CERO having a rule with people with a real historical background seems confusing. What about Dynasty Warriors, where you play as historical Chinese figures? What about the Nobunaga's Ambition games? And besides Hitler, there are still characters in Shin Megami Tensei and Persona who are fictionalized versions of historical people who still use their real names. Is the amount of "fictionalization" a factor? How far back in history they are?
White Day originated in Japan in the 70s. It’s called “White Day” because the traditional confections given that day are colored white, such as white chocolate or marshmallows.
On Valentines Day in Japan, it’s traditional for women to give chocolates to men in her life, and she can give different ones depending on her feelings towards them. For example, she can give a simple pack of chocolates to her co-worker, but will give a fancier, more expensive box to her boyfriend, or she can make chocolates herself, which I think is considered the kind for deepest affection.
On White Day, men return the favor, but are expected to do it more than the value of the gifts they received.
@Dman10 I'm sure they do, and that's why they have these game dedicated ones. I'm almost certain we'll get an Animal Crossing one as well. They've been doing these as far back as I can remember. These games have their fans and it's fine to have their own videos. People shouldn't act like they're being left out just because they're centered on something they're not into.
I hope people realize that just because we have these game dedicated ones right now doesn't mean we won't get a general one sooner or later.
And I'm sure Banjo and Kazooie will get an amiibo eventually. Probably in one or two waves, since they seem to go with about three characters per wave.
@Dman10 These videos are long as they are because they also go into detail about the character's moveset and other things added in the update. That's what these Smash dedicated videos are for. They never go into detail on a character in a "normal" direct.
"Normal" directs are the ones that just have the reveal, and the Smash dedicated videos come after, or in this case, before if the general direct is coming soon. Maybe next week, since last week we had Pokemon, and this week we have Smash. Who can say, though?
@RareFan You hope it’s not “another anime swordfighter”, but you want Sora?
Also, why are people so surprised at the length of the video? Terry’s video was about 45 minutes long, around ten minutes more than this one, where Sakurai played through his Classic mode after explaining his moveset. Who knows what he’s going to do in this one though.
People seem to be forgetting that the SNES Aladdin was made by a different company than these versions. SNES Aladdin was made by Capcom, and these ones were made by Virgin. There are most likely rights issues for Capcom not being able to put their version with these, and this is Disney we’re talking about. Plus, this isn’t a Capcom Disney game compilation anyway.
People have said many times, IT'S NOT JUST THE ART STYLE. It's the fact that many of the animations and gameplay seen so far such as the air dash, walking, and the way the bullets are fired are obviously copied from Cuphead with NOTHING that makes it unique from the game it's inspired from, and while it's fine for them to use the same art style, it honestly doesn't help in that it makes the copied elements more obvious. I don't get why people are not understanding this.
It's fine for a game to be a clone of another. Look at Okami. It's a Zelda clone, but it has UNIQUE elements to it, namely the brush mechanic. Also the Mother series. While the first game was more or less a straight Dragon Quest clone with the setting being the only really unique thing about it, Earthbound and Mother 3 did have original things such as the rolling HP counter, the homesick status, and the rhythm combat in Mother 3.
To be fair, it's still early and they have plenty of time to change it. Hopefully the developers will hear the feedback and this Enchanted Portals game will do something or has something planned to set it apart, but the thing is, we don't now if they are or not. So as it stands NOW, as far as people are concerned, it's just a Cuphead clone, and people are going to criticize it for that as long as this is the only footage we see of this game. Once something more unique is shown, then people will probably change their minds.
@Kalmaro Gamefreak does not make the Pokemon anime. They are a game development company, not an animation studio and they don't handle ALL things Pokemon. @Boerewors They made another Red for the fans of the original Pokemon games for the Gameboy. These figures are based on the original official artwork from the games back in 1996.
It's basically for those who want to have the really retro versions of the characters rather than, or in addition to the "modern" Red from Fire Red/LeafGreen, which is the figure that's out now.
@Damo Honestly it's nothing that drastic but it's still in error. They are Red and Blue (Green in Japan). Ash and Gary are based off both of them.
The big thing I would like to point out though is that the Japanese site this article links to calls the characters "Red" and "Green". So there's that.
"Ash" and "Gary" may be chooseable names for both of them, but that's it. Same with "Satoshi" and "Shigeru" in Japan. Also, the Japanese names predate the original Japanese airing of the anime by years and were just references to Satoshi Taijiri and Shigeru Miyamoto.
We get their names "Red" and "Blue" from how they are first on the default names list in the games, and the fact that they are both called that in later games (Gold and Silver, Black 2 and White 2). Not to mention the fact that the Pokemon Company consistently refers to them with those names.
The figures are based on the original artwork for Red and Blue. Again Ash and Gary are BASED on them. While they may look a bit similar, it does not mean they are the same characters.
In fact, Red never really looked too similar to Ash at all.
Ash has darker skin and Zs under his eyes, and actually has a different hat. Actualy, the one in the anime who bears the closest resemblance to Red's original design is Ritchie.

Blue, however, has changed very little between canons.
Just just think of all the Pokemon media as different canons/universes. The game, anime, and manga are all separate from each other.
(and yes, I saw this argument and had to make an account to respond to it)
