Great port, both on handheld and docked. I've only noticed some resolution drops on handheld after certain special attacks. Playing this with the Joy-con controllers can be a bit of a hassle though. Many times I input the command for a special move after a combo and it just won't work. A controller with a proper d-pad or even a fight stick would help out a lot.
Dragon Ball FighterZ on Ps4. Got it cheap after turning in my 2nd (technically my first) copy of Mario Odyssey, which I got back after losing it. Getting wrecked by the cpu while trying to unlock SSB Vegeta and Goku.
I once bought a fake copy of Pokémon Emerald of Marktplaats, which quite obviously had a defect safe battery, or no battery in it at all. I contacted the seller and he was kind enough to refund me. I think that was a rare exception though. Most people willingly sell fake games and therefore, the buyer is pretty much screwed in most cases. Nowadays I don't even want to risk buying GBA cartridges/DS carts from sites like Ebay, unless the games are complete with box, to avoid getting scammed. It's quite sad really.
@nmanifold Dark Souls is nothing like Skyrim though... Although I must admit I hope to see more games being announced, rather than Dark Souls only. Dark Souls will be a day one purchase for me anyhow.
Got my copy of this game a couple hours ago. I'm pleased with it so far. Obviously, It isn't as graphically attractive as the ps4 version but it certainly looks better than the legacy editions on ps3 and xbox360. I would say the graphics are somewhere in between Fifa 16 and 17 on ps4. The gameplay feels like a combination of those two games as well. It's more difficult to score goals than on the ps4 version of fifa18, which makes it feel less arcade-like (pro difficulty and up). I played in portable mode so far and I was quite impressed. It looks detailed, especially when considering it's on handheld. I'll try it docked later on.
I think it looks quite good and I'm still glad the gameplay is 60fps. It isn't running on Frostbite as we al know, but I do see some effect and detail that isn't in the ps3/x360 "legacy" editions. I am still contemplating about also getting the ps4 version, but to be honest, I didn't play the last iterations of Fifa on ps4 that much.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
You could compare it to that . It's a cash grab. There are so many players in the game and you only get a couple of cards per pack. The packs also have other types of cards, like managers and stadiums, so the odds of getting players like Messi or Ronaldo are awfully slim.
@Shellcore
I don't agree with selling virtual (worthless) packs for real money either. I've tried ultimate team before, and it's nigh impossible to make a competitive team without spending money on packs. It's a bad way to treat customers who already payed full retail price. However, people seem to still buy these packs. A lot of Youtube and Twitch Fifa players only play ultimate team, and some hardly play the mode and just buy packs continuously. I wouldn't be surprised if they get fifa points from sponsors (maybe even EA?) to make it look easy to get good players. I've gotten packs for points I earned in-game and all I got from those packs were 80 ranked players max (most packs were much, much worse).
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
Fifa points aren't really DLC.
They are points which can be used to buy packs for Fifa ultimate team mode. The packs contain player cards. The cards can be used to build a team with. These points speed up the rate of buying packs and getting players, and as such are more like microtransactions. I don't personally like the fifa points but they have been around for years on other platforms.
Been thinking about getting this cause of footage I saw on stream. It looked fun to me. Ot: any ETA for a Fifa18 review? Find it quite worrying not a single website has made a specific review for Switch.
Nintendo know people want this, and it seems they are right. Personally, I don't quite understand the appeal of these mini consoles. Is emulating the games on a Nintendo brand emulator that much different from using any other emulator, and buying a Snes controller usb adapter for a couple of dollars (and 1 or 2 controllers)? You could get all the games you want (even games not released in US and EU) I guess it's a nice collectible but it still isn't a real Super Nintendo.
I was planning to get Xenoverse 2 on Switch, but decided to get it on ps4 instead, after news got out that the Switch version lacked the dlc. It was €40,- on sale including all dlc on ps4. I guess I would've still payed full price to have the game on Switch, but only if the dlc was actually included.
Im kinda scared that Fifa on Switch will have problems as well, seeing EA didn't feel like releasing a demo on Switch. Not pre-ordering it or buying it before seeing some reviews. Don't feel like getting screwed over. But I have been looking forward to portable Fifa...
Switch titles I got/will still be getting this year:
Botw, Mario Kart 8, Fast RMX, Sonic Mania, Fifa 18, Super Mario Odyssey, TES Skyrim, RE Revelations 1 + 2, Doom, Xenoblade, Rocket league.
And then there's titles that I may also get like Arms, Splatoon and a bunch of indies. That is one expansive list of games for a console that hasn't been on the market for a full year. Was hoping for VC to be announced, but my wallet is grateful for the fact that is isn't coming soon. Good times.
Well, just ordered a snes Super Metroid cartridge because I wasn't planning on getting Samus Returns at release. This review does get me hyped for it though, so I'll probably get it sooner rather than later.
I decided to buy another (properly functioning)snes instead of this fancy, hardly obtainable emulator. The cartridges + system may be more expensive in comparison, but it's the "Real
Deal" . Also dont (necessarily) have to support scalpers. I'll just take my time getting the games I want.
Wouldnt keyboards and mouses be connectable to Switch via usb, without sliding on the joy cons (if Nintendo allows this)? Still, would look neat with the neon yellow joycons I received today
Many (online) stores in the Netherlands are having trouble keeping a steady supply. I do think it's getting a bit easier to get a Switch now, compared to the first 2 months after launch.
Fps is more important than full hd resolution imo.. Also, the Switch is a tiny tablet device, how come people expect it to even come close to ps4 and xbox one graphics wise? I really don't get it. I don't think 3rd party support will ultimately make or break the Switch. 1st party support is the most important. As soon as the 3DS is abandoned, Nintendo will be able to focus all attention on Switch and I expect we will get an absolute boatload of first party titles.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE What is this 'myth' you speak off? I believe most people who bought Switch were well aware that they should not expect triple A 3rd party titles (with parity to ps4 Xbox one) on Switch. I honestly don't really care if Beyond good and evil 2 comes to Switch or not, but looking at that trailer, people that do want the game on Switch shouldn't get their hopes up.
I hope we will see at least one of these:
Virtual console release soon.
New Metroid game for Switch.
App support on switch (Youtube, Twitch, Netflix.
If any of those are announced I'll be quite happy
Another thing I would like, is to have some Resident Evil games on Switch, REmake and RE4 in particular.
Edit: SSB melee on Switch plox
I think the overall press conference was quite good. Wasn't expecting any triple A titles like the new assassin's creed to hit switch. It seems people are quite happy with m+r so I may also try that game out. I personally would have liked some ports, like for example a Switch port of the Ezio collection.
Was really hoping to see Castlevania 4 make an appearance on 3DS. I'm disappointed in the amount of Snes games arriving on the 3DS virtual console. I have a Wii U and I know it has quite an extensive library of Snes games, but I want to play Snes games on the go (with proper controls, no touch screen only).
Still awaiting the arrival of Super Castlevania 4 on the 3DS virtual console. I hope they won't make us wait too long for more awesome Snes games (on 3ds).
I believe they changed the soundtrack because the original composer was accused of plagiarism. At least one of the tracks from this game and also track from other dbz games/series were believed to be plagiarised.
Thanks Gridattack and Discostew for clearing this up!

As I noted yesterday, the game does not include the original soundtrack, which could mean that it's some sort of port.
I'd like to see this game as a stand alone download in the e-shop
OT: Still looks and play's great. I have not experienced any trouble like slowdowns in this game. The pixel perfect mode looks way sharper than the standard mode albeit with a slightly smaller display.
I found out it has something to do with copyright infringement. They removed the old soundtrack because the autor had plagiarised other artists songs (not just in this game too) . I also believe the game was only available in French and Japanese.
Edit: It seems there's a Spanish release as well.
Personally I see the sega games more or less like remakes. The games look even better than the originals in most cases. I doubt an emulation ever looks better than the original. Also if Nintendo would do the same thing as M2, the roll out of Snes games would be even slower than it is now. If they wanted to do what M2 did, they should have started doing that years ago imo.
Haha the discussion goes on and on
Just checked some footage of Super Butouden on 3DS.
One thing I noticed is that they changed the soundtrack. It may not be a direct emulation of the original.
It's possible that it's more like a port. Unfortunately, the footage didn't show if there was a VC menu included.
Fair enough
I must admit Dragon Ball Super Butouden 2 makes me have some second thoughts too. I've played that game before and I personally think that would be one of the Snes games the 3DS could handle. I haven't played it on 3DS myself though so I don't know how smooth it runs. Personally I think the original 3DS is capable of running some Snes games but not all of them, also it may not run any of them the way Nintendo wants them to run. Instead of releasing some games for the orignal 3DS I think they tried to avoid consumer confusion and just decided to make ALL of the Snes games for new 3Ds only.
I believe the original 3ds had a 268Mhz processor running on 2 cores (arm11) with one reserved for the operating system while the new 3ds has a 268Mhz processor running on 4 cores with one reserved for the os (arm11) . This equates to the original 3ds only having a 268Mhz core at its disposal to actually run the games while the new 3ds has 3 of those same cores to run games.
Edit: seems I forgot to mention that both original 3ds and new 3ds also include a 134Mhz single core (arm9) on top of the previously mentioned processor cores.
I didn't suggest they were missing snes sales willingly. My question is, why would they? I've seen many comments and articles from the homebrew scene suggesting these games wouldn't work properly on original 3Ds.
Why would Nintendo refuse to make these games for original 3ds if they are able to make quite a bit of money out of it? The only reason I can think of is they are not pleased with the emulation quality. Twenty year old roms won't sell €190,- systems to most of the people who already own a 2ds/3ds.
Personally I don't think Nintendo considers these vc games to be system sellers (a select few may upgrade because of this) If consumers didn't want the New version before, then I dont think 20 year old games will convince them to go buy it now. I think Nintendo would have gained more from this(profit and fanbase wise) if they managed to get the games running properly on the original 3ds, so if it was at all possible to do so, I don't see a reason why they wouldn't have.
I don't get why people believe that the snes games are new 3ds exclusive because Nintendo wants to sell more systems. I think they would earn more if they managed to make snes work on 3ds on software sales. Besides I find it hard to believe that Nintendo actually thinks these snes games are a system seller. Why would they willingly lose out on a ton of snes game sales? I am sure Nintendo skipped snes on 3ds for a reason. They probably weren't pleased with the emulation quality on original 3DS.
It seems people just think something like: that game is really old and my game system is quite new! It should work for sure! The thing is, it doesn't and it shouldn't because the 3ds was not made to properly emulate snes games. Please read some more before jumping to conclusions. The only thing that makes this a cash grab from Nintendo's side is the fact that the snes games cost this much. I am pretty sure they at least tried to emulate snes on original 3ds.Does it sound logical to you people that Nintendo would want to lose out on millions of potential snes game downloads? I don't think they chose to lose out on that many vc game downloads just because they wanted to lift system sales by a small margin.
It's kind of laughable to see that people refer to homebrew emulators to "prove" that 3ds is capable to properly run snes but are too outraged to see that a person who actually works on those very same emulators states that perfect snes emulation is NOT possible on original 3ds
