Re: Poll: With Races Won and Cups Collected, How Do You Rate Mario Kart 8's DLC Pack 2?

FunkyMonkey

I had some friends over on the weekend and we jumped straight into 200 cc (Shouldn't have let the girlfriend set it up ). We all found it really difficult with our regular set-ups (typically medium-heavy characters with more of an emphasis on speed). After some experimentation, we all ended up switching to lighter characters with an emphasis on handling. 200 cc became relatively easy after that. Lovin' the new tracks though!!

Re: Out Now: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, amiibo and Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire (North America)

The amiibo are neat. I picked up a Link with my controller bundle. Was going to get a DK, but I decided to get a character that I actually use in smash once in a while. The amount of detail on some of the figurines is quite impressive. The collect-ability paired with game functionality justifies the pricing IMO, though I must admit, I thought they were slightly over-priced on reveal.

First time some of you have seen a human of the female variety?

You did a fine job on that first cup. I can only reiterate what's already been said in that utilizing protection items is key. My only other advice would be to consider using a heavier character for the later cups when the tracks become a little more complex. It helps to have that extra weight to throw around (and not be light enough to get thrown off the track!). Of course, the extra speed doesn't hurt either.

Re: Poll: Should Nintendo Patch The Controversial Fire Hopping Technique In Mario Kart 8?

@KennyPowers DOWN WITH MUSHROOMS!

This all just seems so ridiculous. It honestly doesn't even qualify as an exploit to me, so much as a technique (And nowhere NEAR on the same level as snaking).

It will be interesting to see if Nintendo comments on the matter. Either way, I look forward to experimenting with this tonight and seeing what all the fuss is about.

Sometimes in a competitive environment, one must adapt to new techniques or strategies. So it is, so it has always been. Keeps things fresh, ya know?

The video doesn't prove much to me, considering they only did one trial and he could have simply taken a better racing line the second time around. Without further testing it's hard to say whether or not the fire hopping was the reason for the better time.
Either way...it seems like an incredibly simple technique to adapt to IMO.
I have to agree with @KennyPowers in saying that there is wayyyyy too much chaos going for this technique to have much of an effect in online racing.
Anyone who's hardcore enough to be going for the very best times in the trials will adapt to the technique, if it indeed makes as much of a difference as proposed...

"Nikkei's story isn't based on information released by Nintendo and is full of mistakes"

If this is all the statement says, that doesn't completely debunk the rumors for me. They could still very well reveal these two things, just from a little bit of a different angle. Time will tell.
