Not really impressed. The resolution is better and everything looks a lot more crisp, but that small of a visual upgrade doesn't really motivate me to want to spend 60-70 dollars on this game again.
Considering you are able to download it for free, I don't know what the fuss is about if you're not a fan of it. Personally, I really like the music in Splatoon. Some of these tracks, while lacking much creativity, are still pretty cool.
Nice to see some 'tones on there. At first glance, I thought that was Serj in the thumbnail. "Holy crap, that's chino!". Was kind of hoping it was going to be something off adrenaline, but that was not a realistic hope
I had some friends over on the weekend and we jumped straight into 200 cc (Shouldn't have let the girlfriend set it up ). We all found it really difficult with our regular set-ups (typically medium-heavy characters with more of an emphasis on speed). After some experimentation, we all ended up switching to lighter characters with an emphasis on handling. 200 cc became relatively easy after that. Lovin' the new tracks though!!
The amiibo are neat. I picked up a Link with my controller bundle. Was going to get a DK, but I decided to get a character that I actually use in smash once in a while. The amount of detail on some of the figurines is quite impressive. The collect-ability paired with game functionality justifies the pricing IMO, though I must admit, I thought they were slightly over-priced on reveal.
First time some of you have seen a human of the female variety?
You did a fine job on that first cup. I can only reiterate what's already been said in that utilizing protection items is key. My only other advice would be to consider using a heavier character for the later cups when the tracks become a little more complex. It helps to have that extra weight to throw around (and not be light enough to get thrown off the track!). Of course, the extra speed doesn't hurt either.
Although I have to agree with the people that are saying that it isn't any worse than Shulk fighting in his undies. It isn't like a single trophy is going to be much of a point of focus anyway...better to avoid the potential uproar from the uptights though.
This all just seems so ridiculous. It honestly doesn't even qualify as an exploit to me, so much as a technique (And nowhere NEAR on the same level as snaking).
It will be interesting to see if Nintendo comments on the matter. Either way, I look forward to experimenting with this tonight and seeing what all the fuss is about.
Sometimes in a competitive environment, one must adapt to new techniques or strategies. So it is, so it has always been. Keeps things fresh, ya know?
The video doesn't prove much to me, considering they only did one trial and he could have simply taken a better racing line the second time around. Without further testing it's hard to say whether or not the fire hopping was the reason for the better time. Either way...it seems like an incredibly simple technique to adapt to IMO. I have to agree with @KennyPowers in saying that there is wayyyyy too much chaos going for this technique to have much of an effect in online racing. Anyone who's hardcore enough to be going for the very best times in the trials will adapt to the technique, if it indeed makes as much of a difference as proposed...
I think we are pretty lucky considering what we've received in the last month or so. Kind of expected a weak update this week. I still have more than enough to keep me busy.
"Nikkei's story isn't based on information released by Nintendo and is full of mistakes"
If this is all the statement says, that doesn't completely debunk the rumors for me. They could still very well reveal these two things, just from a little bit of a different angle. Time will tell.
I'm not mad in any way that the GBA ambassador games haven't arrived yet. What ticks me off is that Europe and Japan have confirmation, while those of us In North America are still in the dark almost two days later. Kind of a dick move by NOA.
HURRY UP SUNDAY!! Bob-ombs only sounds very interesting...the customization factor this time around should add a lot more depth and replay value to the experience. By the way, anyone care to tell me whether Steering supports the D-Pad, or is it only the circle pad?

I think I'll just watch it on TV . G4's coverage of E3 is always top-notch.
