This is literally one of the stupidest things I've seen recently. So, if you want HARD mode you need the ugly Ganondorf amiibo, if you want to chicken out every time you´re gonna die, you can use the Zelda/Sheik ones or if you're too lazy to kill enemies for arrows, you just tap Link/Toon Link. I mean, I wasn´t expecting mindblowing content for the amiibos, but this is so underwhelming, like, why the f*ck is Hard/Hero mode locked behing the ganondorf figurine? I am really starting to hate all these useless and overpriced pieces of cheap plastic.
@Priceless_Spork I ran into that issue with my wii a long time ago, you'll be amazed at how many classic games a little 32 gb sd card can hold, I literally possess 60% of the virtual console and like 12 wiiware games on there and I still have left ton of free space.
I'm with you on the frustration with the vc, mostly because the wii started something that sadly we won't see on the wii u: arcade games. Hell, I thought that since the PS3 and X360 got wonderful things like the konami arcade classics like X-men, The Simpsons and TMNT, we would be getting them for the wii u, but nope, NO ARCADE GAMES. I just hope that we will see them on the NX.
@PlywoodStick You are confusing speed with intensity, yes, smash melee is faster than smash 4, but that doesn't mean that it is the more intense game, to me they are equally intense but in different aspects altogether. A lot of melee players don't acknowledge smash 4's intensity just because it's a little slower and doesn't have wavedashing. That´s it.
The issue is that melee players are so used to the same old-same old gameplay that they refuse to see that smash 4 has the same potential, but since it removes all the cheap techniques like the aborrhent edge-hogging, they don't even bother adjusting to the new system.
@XCWarrior OG 3DS plays all games that I've interest in, yeah, it is slower and has some unstable things but it does its job, I'm not gonna spend some of my savings for some stability and faster loading times when I can play everything on an OG model (except for Xenoblade and Isaac, even then I have a laptop and a Wii, so I can play those two on those systems).
Stability and faster loading times isn't enough for Nintendo to have my money, they need to do better to convince me to upgrade.
@Tulio517 That is why I stopped watching it years and years ago. I got extremely bored by the filler episodes during the Johto era, I mean, Jesus Christ, there were like 35-40 episodes between gyms that it just wasn't funny anymore, then I expected a huge finale to compensate for all the crappy episodes I had to endure, but nope, ash loses once more, and that means it's back to square 1 the next season.
At least this series teaches something valuable to kids: It doesn't matter how hard you try or how long you keep trying, some people just aren't gifted to begin with.
@wazlon This game wasn't made for people like you that already have a wii u and can experience that version, it was made for people like me who refuse to invest in a wii u when the nx is looming closer and closer but possess a 3DS and can finally check out what is all the fuzz about this game to finally experience it firsthand, that's why I plan to check it out.
This is a very smart move by Nintendo, make a portable version of a good selling game available for everybody to play it on the console that is currently doing pretty good. I believe this also was the main reason they decided to make a Smash 4 version for 3DS right from the start.
@Vee_Flames I am pretty calm man, I'm just stating the plain truth. It was all fun and games when amiibo started out with smash, it was like "Yeah, I can train an amiibo in-game and fight it out with my friends amiibo to see whose is better", but at this point is "You want to play hard mode, unlock the extra stages, see the alternate costumes or even begin the game? (AC: Amiibo festival, I want to forget that piece of commercial garbage so much) You have to buy our wonderful cash-in plastic monstrosities for that!!!!".
@SahashraLA Not necessarily, I call this garbage because it FEELS like garbage, I mean, it is pretty clear that this is used as a stopgap before Zelda U hits shelves, that I have no problem with, the problem is when this stopgap is mediocre to say the least regarding past remakes/remasters.
The Last Of Us PS4 remaster is VERY RECENT and it contains ALL OF THE DLC which you previously had to pay for in the PS3 days, it's not simply an HD facelift, or I can give you a Nintendo example in MM 3D, which reintroduced a very old N64 game with updated graphics, new gameplay mechanics, revamped situations, etc. See where I'm going?
The issue I have with this stopgap is that it feels rushed and a mere cash-in rather than a solid remaster in the Zelda franchise, which Twilight Princess proudly deserves, as it is an amazing game overall, but just look what Nintendo is doing: this is an "HD" (it doesn't look like it) remaster which has 2 things unlocked by an ugly-looking toy, and we are expecting you to pay full price for it. Yeah, good luck with that.
@shani See? Even if we have different opinions, we both respect each other's tastes and that's cool man. I got a N64 some years ago and finally got to play a lot of its library, my favorites being Paper Mario and Kirby 64, simply amazing games. I still prefer the psone, but I admit that the N64 is an excellent console.
@shani I meant that in those times, Super Mario 64 was deemed as the best game of that generation, and while I like that game, it's one of those who have aged terribly in my opinion, I mean, it's good and it certainly revolutionized the open world 3D genre, but it isn't that amazing by today's standards.
Many years ago, I got to chose between the N64 and the psone, and in that particular moment, I went the sony route and got the crash trilogy as I went by. I didn't mean to say that crash revolutionized the same way, but as a boy who only got to choose 1 console and looking back, I'm certainly glad I picked the psone by a long mile, as the crash games have aged amazingly well after all these years.
I know that Crash is 2.5D and Mario is pure 3D, I wasn't comparing genres, but their similitudes are higher than most people realize, especially since both games are collectathons and have tons of secrets.
@Blue_Blur Yeah, I always feel nostalgic about crash, due to the fact that I went the sony route as soon as the psone hit the stores, so many memories. I would put Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped on the list, as it was (and still is) an amazing game when I got it so many years ago. That game had everything: Varied levels, bazookas, dinosaur riding, spaceship and airplane fights, time trial collectibles that vastly expanded the replay value, etc.
To me that game is even superior to overrated games like Super Mario 64, hands down.
FE Fates was always a given to me if I can find the special edition version when it launches, also I will pick up paper jam, legacy collection and possibly stella glow, since everyone is talking wonders about it. I have bought each stage and character in smash, so yeah, I will buy that too. I don't care about everything else.
@bluedogrulez You must be joking. I won't trust Inafune with a release date never again in my life, I mean, the man has delayed the game several times, not to mention that it doesn't look as good as the concept art, he is planning on launching a theme park, a cartoon, a movie, a toy line and a special edition cereal before we even get the damn game.
He lost all credibility along with COMCEPT by making stupid decision after stupid decision, and it is quite clear that he is talentless to manage a company, he is an awesome game designer, yes, but lacks what it takes to make a company sucessful.
@JohnBlackstar Oh boy.... I wanted to forget that overrated and overpriced piece of junk, thank you very much for reminding me of that monstrosity. If you are interested in a REAL QUALITY GORGEOUS Super Mario watch, look up the limited edition pocketwatches that Japan launched a couple years ago, that is quality, not that piece if sh*t horrendous watch.
@marck13 Yeah, just look at the kidrobot/swatch collection, it is simply amazing and well thought. I got myself one of those a couple years ago for $60, it even came bundled with a limited edition kidrobot figurine and the quality is simply marvelous.
I gotta say that despite the cool exterior design, the interior looks kinda cheap, it's like those watches kiddies use before getting their hands on an authentic first watch. My recommendation would be: Ignore this, just grab yourself a swatch, it's better looking, better designed, doesn't look cheap and you can get your hands on one very easily.
@RantingThespian I get the exact opposite feeling. While I admit that Super Mario RPG is a pretty awesome game, there is something amiss that quite doesn´t allure me as the PM and ML series do.
I respect the game for cementing the basis for the 2 aforementioned series, but I recently played it once more, and somehow it feels a bit... dated. Then I played the first Paper Mario on the N64 and it still feels outstanding even by today's standards, somehow I prefer the approach intelligent systems gave to the new series, it plays much less clunky, not to mention that I liked the approach of dividing the game into 8 chapters instead of square's approach of rushing through the seven stars, one after the other. That kinda ruined the experience for me.
@Ichiban My thoughts exactly. Most people here are very passionate about Nintendo not letting their fans down, but money is money, and they know that the Wii U is already dead, I mean, it is not going to move more units in the foreseeable future, not unless the new Zelda comes out, but as you pointed out, it will come at the very end of the Wii U's lifespan and serve as the first step towards the NX.
@NaturalGus I agree on some level with you. I don't think the NX launch will be as majestic as you think it will be, but I believe that nintendo has been secretly working on NX games for months now, hence the lackluster recent titles COUGH ac: amiibo festival, mario tennis ultra smash COUGH to put all their 100% on this new console that will have at least 3 or 4 impressive 1st party titles all ready on launch day.
Ummm... this is a very tough one. In general, it makes sense, as the Wii U is rapidly proving for Nintendo to be not reliable for steady income, and while the 3DS is currently doing pretty well with a promising 2016 lineup on the near future, it won't be reliable for them in 2017 at all, so I expect Nintendo to let go of the 3DS this upcoming E3, where they are gonna announce the last exclusive 1st party games as a final bang before moving on.
Star Fox Zero will be an amazing game no doubt, but it won't be a console seller, that job was already done by super mario maker, splatoon, super sm4sh U and MK8, there simply is nothing left to sell the Wii U, except the upcoming Zelda title, but I believe that will be released for both the Wii U and the NX, hence why Twilight Princess HD is being used simply to appease fans while they do the transition, so an early NX move makes a lot of sense.
@YANDMAN Could you please post your sources? I've been searching all over the internet and I haven't found a single piece of evidence pointing towards their demise as a company, so I believe you may have misread information or you are making a false claim, hell, even their wikipedia article doesn't list at all that information.
That aside, Sin and Punishment 2: Successor of the skies is a true masterpiece, and it is on my top 5 wii games, as it is an astounding piece of modern gaming and an example of how games should be done today; tight controls, engaging visuals, awesome gameplay, insane difficulty if you aim for all the medals on every stage. True Perfection.
I would love to see a sequel on the NX, but Treasure has been inactive for a while, their only recent action being a port of Ikaruga for Steam, and that was over a year ago, so I wouldn't hold a candle waiting for this to happen.
@I-U You are part of a very limited minority who would pass on an engaging single experience in favour of a multiplayer experience that doesn't look Metroid-ish at all.
The prime games revolutionized the way gamers want to see the Metroid franchise in 3D, so whether you like those games or not, everyone knows that those games greatly raised the bar from what we want in a metroid adventure, that's why Other M failed miserably and why this game is also condemned to the same fate, Nintendo not knowing what their audience wants is the issue.
@sandman89 Sakamoto is not working on Metroid and neither is Retro Studios, so thrrr is no one to work on the game and it was told in a recent interview that there aren't plans for a Metroid game on the wii u, that it will be in the NX that the series will probably launch again. Not only that, this is the NEW Nintendo we are talking about, the guys who cannot give us a release date or at the very least new footage of the upcoming Zelda game.
@japongt I didn't like it because I felt it was a rushed, unnecessary sequel to path of radiance, just look at the return of the greil mercenaries, it is in the game just because, not to mention that the characters you begin the game with are useless compared to them. I rest my case.
P.S. Nothing beats shadow dragon as the worst fe game out there, as it is the only game with abysmal graphics and gameplay, a terrible terrible remake of a great game.
@AVahne I consider radiant dawn much more inferior than awakening because you can say all you want about awakening but at least that game had focus, radiant dawn on the other hand had entire pointless chapters that made the experience frustrating, if not redundant.
@ikki5 I'm seriously considering buying a PS4 instead of a Wii U right now or even an NX when it hits shelves.
I fear the first has only a little over a year of lifespan and I fear that if I buy the latter, I am gonna end regretting it instead of taking the Sony route, when Nintendo once again promises things that won't come at all.
Hell, a lot of people I know have taken the route of buying sony consoles but nintendo handhelds.
@MoonKnight7 I thought I was alone with that thought of Twilight Princess HD. Yes, it is being used as a stopgap for users with a Wii U to buy it to appease their need of another Zelda adventure on their consoles while they further delay Zelda U to almost coincide with the release of the NX, so I'd say that they will release it by november 2016.
Also, it is sad about code name steam, developed by the geniuses of intelligent systems, but this is the new nintendo we're talking about, it's the nintendo where if the IP is not named Mario or Zelda, it doesn't deserve any publicity or attention (with an special exception being Splatoon)
@teamshortcut Ha ha I know, I downloaded it a little over a year ago on my 3DS, one of the best purchases I've ever made in my life, and I agree with the guys of yacht club, it it still fresh after all this time, so devaluing it will be a huge mistake since they plan to continue to upgrade it. I'm still playing plague of shadows, and I too, recommend it to everyone who wants a fresh take on modern gaming.
@StephenYap3 I don't consider it Metroidvania either, it's a side-scrolling game retro style a la ducktales, castlevania or megaman (the 3 biggest clear influences on the game).
@Xenocity ha ha good one about the casual gamer, I can only count as casual if casual means owning over 20 consoles.
You know, I could ask you the same thing when in other threads you have put forward imaginary numbers of third party games doing so much better on nintendo consoles and when you are proven to be entirely inaccurate, you stay completely quiet.
@Xenocity Dude, stop being an annoying brainiac that pesters all those who comment here and provide their own personal opinion, and also stop worshipping neogaf, if they are everything to you, then good for you.
Splatoon and Code Name S.T.E.A.M. are new IPs whether you like it or not, the justification you make for them not being new is as stupid as saying that Warioware doesn't count as an IP because it is made up of various games. Give me a break.
Secondly, as much as you want to defend Nintendo for hiding content from the user in amiibos, stating that they were pressured by the media and the gaming public in general, just see the DLC in MK8, that's DLC done right, it is content not available on the disc, it is brand new content created AFTER the game was finished, a la Smash Bros. That is much more different than "buy these useless toys to unlock some useless skins".
@MrRight Dude, calm your t*ts, this isn't the usual website where you can swear to no end. Secondly, if the man passed on the project, it was his decision, you're a nobody who cannot judge another person for the decisions he/she makes. Finally, that's your opinion of the game, and nobody cares about it.
@BulbasaurusRex I liked it because it gives you a sense of danger and survival that for the first time in the metroid franchise, you're not the alpha dog anymore, it gives you a feeling that Samus is being watched and followed very closely, and I loved that in this game. Even Dark Samus failed to do so, as I viewed her as an equal to Samus, but SA-X was the superior one from the start.
@John_Enigma Man... the issue is that you're asking common sense out of nintendo, something that they do not possess at the moment. Let's consider for a moment that nintendo pulled off a TLOZ:ALBW with the Metroid franchise and released Metroid Dread in 2.5D, that game alone would sell like pancakes, I would even bet that it would move a lot of new 3DS consoles, but Nintendo isn't interested on our money. Too bad.
I know a lot of people who bash this game to no end because it was the sequel to super metroid and lost a bit of its exploration, but I have a sweet spot for this gem because it was the title that introduced me to the metroid universe, and everyone who asks me what is the best title to begin with metroid, I always say either this title or zero mission, as they are the most accesible for newcomers.
I don't know if anyone else will agree with me on this, but this game has the best boss battles of the entire franchise, hands f*cking down. I mean, the tarantula/spider who appears out of nowhere, and as the battle progresses you destroy its body and then it begins to use space jump with the head, the final match with SA-X, who is always stalking you, and whom you can't even scratch without the plasma beam and of course, the best boss of the entire series, NIGHTMARE, whose face melts the more you attack it.
I also don't get why a lot people despise "Adam", I mean, the computer only briefs you the missions every time you go to a command center or your ship, it's not like Adam is Navi, constantly being a pain in the a** and nagging you the same useless tips. I also liked a lot that the computers were also used for the conspiracy that takes place at the very end of the game where the federation plans to capture SA-X for research (I agree with Samus, they are mental), it just gives this Metroid the feeling that something greater than a simple adventure is taking place.
This game is more linear than super metroid, but I would urge anyone who is interested in the franchise to ignore this single fact as it isn't a fatal flaw on this gem.
@mjc0961 You know what is the worst thing? TFH got elected in miiverse as one of the 3 most popular choices and here on nintendolife it came on top 5 of the best of 3DS this 2015 despite being the sh*ttiest game I've played in a while. As a super fan of the Zelda series, this is the first time I feel offended by Mr. Aonuma.
@Souldin I know that the Wii had some pretty amazing 3rd parties games, hell, half of my collection were developed by 3rd parties, examples: Sin and Punishment 2 (the best one of all, published by nintendo, but developed by treasure), Tatsunoko vs Capcom (it destroys UMVC3, hands down), the one you mentioned Muramasa (amazing slasher), Madworld (Sega back in their old golden days), etc.
Just take a look at the games I mentioned, while they are simply outstanding and outshine a lot of the 3rd party games from the ps3 and 360 days, the sad truth is that Nintendo didn't back them up in a proper way, they sold abysmally, even though I still dust them off and play them on the ol' red wii. I got them all a long time after I got my Wii, because a friend of mine praised them all to hell and back, but before that, all I owned was developed and published by Nintendo, because I hadn't heard of them before, because Nintendo didn't even bother to tell me, the hardcore gamer, that they were an option, that they existed, that the Wii also had those for people like me.
Instead, Nintendo took the Wii the other way around, praising the piece of sh*t Wii Music like there was no end, meanwhile Metal Slug Anthology was released in a very limited quantity.
That's the issue Nintendo desperately needs to correct, the 3rd parties deliver when asked, but they treat them like garbage.
@8bitforever I wouldn't say 3rd party support stopped in the SNES days, I'd say that nintendo tried to appeal to the hardcore gamer again with the nintendo gamecube (which I call SNES 2), just look at that beast, it's pure gaming bliss, hell, Capcom even published some of their best games on that system: Capcom vs SNK 2, Viewtiful Joe 1 & 2, the entire resident evil saga, etc.
And why was that? Because the gamecube didn't rely on any kind of gimmick, it was just gaming, plain and simple, again, like an SNES. Then came along the wii and the wii u, where the experimentation they began with the N64, took an even further turn and that's where 3rd parties were lost.
I am giving Nintendo the benefit of the doubt regarding the NX, as it can appeal to 3rd parties once more, depending on how well they present it.
@Rockmin US started to establish it a long time ago, in the glory days of Atari, but then they started to flood the market mainly because they had no control whatsoever of what was and/or wasn't published, so that first run of the establishment bit the dust. The japanese just said f*ck it and revamped the entire industry from scratch, and this is when Nintendo and Sega started to rise in the industry as the new pillars of entertainment. You can call it a monopoly all you want, but it was this new model that the japanese created that established the gaming industry we know today. To me, the americans proposed the prototype of the industry, but the japanese took this model further and perfected it.
I understood why ALL of the games for both the Wii U and 3DS were nominated, as I understand the charm of each one, but can anyone explain to me what the hell is the appeal of triforce heroes? To this day, I still don't see what people see in that piece of trash game. I mean, it's just a sh*tty version of four swords adventures, just trying to appeal with the costumes, not to mention that you really need 3 people to enjoy the game to its fullest, and on top of that, the game isn't even that fun.
@TheGoof He isn't smoking anything, he is just stating the plain truth, you just understood wrong. Game consoles DID start with pong and the magnavox odyssey (Atari came later, copying the idea from magnavox), but we all know how it all ended when the americans were in charge of that (COUGH videogame crash COUGH), then in 1985 with the rise of the NES and the Master System, the japanese took control of the market, with little american involvement. Even nowadays, the japanese control A LOT of home console entertainment, the exception being Microsoft, which being an american established company, has little to no influence there.
Bottom line is: the americans had their shot of gaming being established here in America, they screwed up, hence, why he says that IT IS established in Japan.
@Xenocity I understand your point of the 3rd parties ds games, but it's still very stupid nonetheless on Nintendo's behalf. People would pay money to play the 2 ds Zeldas on their 3DS or even the original new super mario bros. That 3rd parties are not on board with that, it doesn't mean Nintendo can't release their 1st party games there.
Regarding that the wii u eshop is the eshop that the NX will inherit.... I doubt it. Why? Because Nintendo made another stupid decision years ago when they decided that that the wii eshop was crap and started the wii u's eshop FROM SCRATCH, re-releasing the games that were already on the first eshop. I know the latter has gamepad compatibility, but that's just no justification for "ALRIGHT, JUST ABANDON THE WII ESHOP ALTOGETHER AND LET'S START ONCE MORE FROM 0". I mean, where are the sega genesis games? the neo geo games? the arcade games? Japan already got ages ago MSX and Turbografx 16 games, where are those games in NA or EU?
People have been asking here on various forums about the future of the 3DS VC. A lot of folks here just want the service to continue, so I don't get where you get that it is consumer rejection if everybody keeps wondering about it.
Lastly, I wasn't aware that the original 3DS isn't capable of fully running a GBA emulator, I'll grant you that point, but one of my original points persists, GBA games are meant to be PORTABLE, why release them on a home console? why couldn't nintendo wait for the new 3ds to hit shelves and then release them there? I mean, the new 3ds has NO software, aside from Xenoblade Chronicles and Binding of Isaac, it is simply a stopgap console, awaiting the arrival of the NX, so the common sense would to fill it up with more virtual releases, where the GBA games would have been simply perfect.
@ikki5 I LOVE Nintendo, a freaking lot, but I kinda see the point of your dissatisfaction with them, as they are always promising tons and tons of things, but only deliver a third of those said promises, like they are currently doing with the wii u and the metroid franchise.
The Gamecube was the last console when 3rd party support was a real and solid thing, why? Because the gamecube tried its hardest to appeal to us, the hardcore gamers, it was a console with 0 gimmicks, it was only gaming that mattered, hence, why companies like capcom delivered to the fullest whenever they could.
The wii totally abandoned us hardcore gamers at first, seeking appeal of the casual audience before. Sure, it is an amazing console, things like the galaxies, prime trilogy and skyward sword are outstanding timeless games, but Nintendo decided that they wanted to appeal to that demographic first, hence the reason why everybody labeled it as a "Child's console" and it was also the reason why most of the 3rd party support was almost non-existant, it was simply entirely their fault.
Then came along the wii u, doomed to the same fate of the wii for the name it has. Nintendo was expecting to sell the same amount of consoles as before, but the casual gamers moved on to the tablets, not to mention that their "experimentation" with "innovative" ways of playing with the gamepad is simply a joke if you ask me; the system is amazing and the exclusives are too, but the gamepad is the main reason why 3rd parties jumped the ship early on and it is simply going nowhere with that "innovative" gameplay. Again, it is Nintendo and no else to blame.
The NX right now is a gamble where Nintendo is risking everything, it's 50-50 for them, either it's one of the greatest consoles of all time where 3rd parties will gather together to work along with them or it will be wii part 3 where they won't bother at all.
One of the stupidest decisions Nintendo has made in recent times was putting out ds and gba games on the wii u. Why? Because since the ambassador's program I was expecting to see game boy advance games on the 3DS virtual console, it just felt natural that the gba games belonged to the 3DS, but nope, let's put them on the wii u, a console that a little over 10 million people have, not the handheld beast that currently is on the hands of over 54 million people.
Regarding DS games, I kinda get why they decided to put them on the wii u, since the gamepad can emulate the touch screen on both, the 3ds and ds, but then again, why can't the ds games be on the virtual console of both consoles? Again, I know the wii u is flopping real hard, and it needs the extra boost from the eshop, but it is very stupid to focus real hard on the wii u virtual releases (10 million units), instead of the beast that it is practically printing Nintendo money.
If I was this guy, I would command the release ASAP of the gba and ds games on the 3DS virtual console, which would print me more money from the 54 million handheld users and focus on the REAL THING that could boost wii u sales BY A LOT, doing the thing 3872923083292894 are expecting on the wii u... Gamecube games.
I am not saying that the sales would boost by a lot, but that simple move on the wii u, would guarantee that a minimum of 5 or 6 million consoles would leave the shelves, increasing the revenue of the company, and also filling more my pockets, as the 10 million established users would totally flip out to see those beauties on the virtual console.
@PlywoodStick I wouldn't call this a better game than smash 4 for the main reason that it is brawl with melee physics (at least that's how it felt to me). Smash 4 is a much more solid entry as it appeals to both sides: the melee hardcore fanbase and the more casual brawl community; everything just falls into place spectacularly.
@Morph His mindset doesn't have anything to do at all with technology, but with creativity. He feels that there isn't anything new he can add or create for the Mother series, therefore, he doesn't want to do something related to it, simple as that. I respect the man for that, instead of milking the Mother series to death (looking at you square enix with crappy modern final fantasy), he kept it short and sweet; otherwise the series wouldn't be so alluring and mystical as it is today.
@Iggly He made sure that there's no way of continuing the original series. Itoi ended it on such a high note and with a very conclusive ending that I cannot imagine a way that he could continue either Ness or Lucas' story. In the year 2030, when he finally feels like working on Mother 4, I think that he would create a brand new story and start another arc from scratch than rehash the same story.
Leave the man already. He has stated for years that he is not in the mood to make another one, he feels that 3 is a proper ending to the series, and I agree with him, that game has literally the best ending for a saga that I've seen in my entire life, it's a very open ending, everything resets and it's up to you to imagine the rest of the "new" story.
As for the fan-made 4.... I don't know why, but the game appeals to me as "bland", the characters look like they are trying so hard to be so Itoi-like, that they look like rehash clones of mother 1-3. I know that they are trying to respect the original series, but at least they could try to come up with fresh ideas, but that's just me.
@shaneoh You seem to be missing the point entirely, as you only see black and white.
Sure, there are nintendo haters who despise everything that nintendo puts out, be it innovative or the same old same old, and there are nintendo purists that praise nintendo for every decision they make, including "games" like these, but there are also gray people like me that while praise their efforts for things like super mario maker, splatoon, fire emblem fates and mk8, also calls them out for putting out crap like this, mario tennis ultra smash or their transition to F2P.
I don't hate everything that Nintendo does, but I'm not a blind fanboy who will justify everything they make, singing praises where they don't deserve them., simple as that.

Re: Video: Official Nintendo Video Showcases amiibo Functionality in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD
This is literally one of the stupidest things I've seen recently.
Re: Video: Hyrule Warriors Legends Footage Shows a Stark Difference in Old and New 3DS Performance
Re: Pokémon the Series: XYZ Airing On Cartoon Network In February
@Tulio517 That is why I stopped watching it years and years ago. I got extremely bored by the filler episodes during the Johto era, I mean, Jesus Christ, there were like 35-40 episodes between gyms that it just wasn't funny anymore, then I expected a huge finale to compensate for all the crappy episodes I had to endure, but nope, ash loses once more, and that means it's back to square 1 the next season.
At least this series teaches something valuable to kids: It doesn't matter how hard you try or how long you keep trying, some people just aren't gifted to begin with.
Re: Video: Hyrule Warriors Legends Demonstration Shows Off Toon Link, Tetra and 'My Fairy' Mode
Re: Talking Point: Considering amiibo Features and the Reality of 'Physical DLC'
Yeah, it is so much fun.
Re: Talking Point: Considering amiibo Features and the Reality of 'Physical DLC'
Re: Book Review: The 200 Best Video Games Of All Time
Re: Book Review: The 200 Best Video Games Of All Time
@Kage_88 Awwww poor baby, I hurt your feelings by not liking the game you like, so you try to mock me. There there little baby.
Re: Book Review: The 200 Best Video Games Of All Time
@shani I meant that in those times, Super Mario 64 was deemed as the best game of that generation, and while I like that game, it's one of those who have aged terribly in my opinion, I mean, it's good and it certainly revolutionized the open world 3D genre, but it isn't that amazing by today's standards.
Re: Book Review: The 200 Best Video Games Of All Time
@Blue_Blur Yeah, I always feel nostalgic about crash, due to the fact that I went the sony route as soon as the psone hit the stores, so many memories.
Re: Feature: Exciting Wii U and 3DS Games to Play in the First Quarter of 2016
FE Fates was always a given to me if I can find the special edition version when it launches, also I will pick up paper jam, legacy collection and possibly stella glow, since everyone is talking wonders about it. I have bought each stage and character in smash, so yeah, I will buy that too. I don't care about everything else.
Re: Feature: Exciting Wii U and 3DS Games to Play in the First Quarter of 2016
@bluedogrulez You must be joking.
Re: Random: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS Picked Up a People's Choice Award
Kudos to Sakurai for creating a fighting masterpiece. Congratulations!!!!
Re: Splatoon Watches Hit Stores In Japan
@JohnBlackstar Oh boy.... I wanted to forget that overrated and overpriced piece of junk, thank you very much for reminding me of that monstrosity. If you are interested in a REAL QUALITY GORGEOUS Super Mario watch, look up the limited edition pocketwatches that Japan launched a couple years ago, that is quality, not that piece if sh*t horrendous watch.
Re: Splatoon Watches Hit Stores In Japan
@marck13 Yeah, just look at the kidrobot/swatch collection, it is simply amazing and well thought. I got myself one of those a couple years ago for $60, it even came bundled with a limited edition kidrobot figurine and the quality is simply marvelous.
Re: Splatoon Watches Hit Stores In Japan
I gotta say that despite the cool exterior design, the interior looks kinda cheap, it's like those watches kiddies use before getting their hands on an authentic first watch. My recommendation would be: Ignore this, just grab yourself a swatch, it's better looking, better designed, doesn't look cheap and you can get your hands on one very easily.
Re: Review: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (Wii U eShop / SNES)
Re: Japanese Analyst Claims NX Could Launch As Early As October, Will Eat Into Wii U And 3DS Sales
Re: Japanese Analyst Claims NX Could Launch As Early As October, Will Eat Into Wii U And 3DS Sales
Re: Japanese Analyst Claims NX Could Launch As Early As October, Will Eat Into Wii U And 3DS Sales
Ummm... this is a very tough one.
Re: Masato Maegawa Talks Shoot 'em Up Designs and Sin and Punishment
Re: Feature: The Biggest 3DS Games of 2016
@I-U You are part of a very limited minority who would pass on an engaging single experience in favour of a multiplayer experience that doesn't look Metroid-ish at all.
Re: Feature: The Biggest 3DS Games of 2016
@sandman89 Sakamoto is not working on Metroid and neither is Retro Studios, so thrrr is no one to work on the game and it was told in a recent interview that there aren't plans for a Metroid game on the wii u, that it will be in the NX that the series will probably launch again. Not only that, this is the NEW Nintendo we are talking about, the guys who cannot give us a release date or at the very least new footage of the upcoming Zelda game.
Re: The Teaser Site For Fire Emblem Fates Has Just Gone Up in North America
@japongt I didn't like it because I felt it was a rushed, unnecessary sequel to path of radiance, just look at the return of the greil mercenaries, it is in the game just because, not to mention that the characters you begin the game with are useless compared to them. I rest my case.
P.S. Nothing beats shadow dragon as the worst fe game out there, as it is the only game with abysmal graphics and gameplay, a terrible terrible remake of a great game.
Re: The Teaser Site For Fire Emblem Fates Has Just Gone Up in North America
@AVahne I consider radiant dawn much more inferior than awakening because you can say all you want about awakening but at least that game had focus, radiant dawn on the other hand had entire pointless chapters that made the experience frustrating, if not redundant.
Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's 2015?
@ikki5 I'm seriously considering buying a PS4 instead of a Wii U right now or even an NX when it hits shelves.
I fear the first has only a little over a year of lifespan and I fear that if I buy the latter, I am gonna end regretting it instead of taking the Sony route, when Nintendo once again promises things that won't come at all.
Hell, a lot of people I know have taken the route of buying sony consoles but nintendo handhelds.
Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's 2015?
Re: Feature: A Year in Development - Yacht Club Games Reflects on the First Half of 2015
@teamshortcut Ha ha I know, I downloaded it a little over a year ago on my 3DS, one of the best purchases I've ever made in my life, and I agree with the guys of yacht club, it it still fresh after all this time, so devaluing it will be a huge mistake since they plan to continue to upgrade it. I'm still playing plague of shadows, and I too, recommend it to everyone who wants a fresh take on modern gaming.
Re: Feature: A Year in Development - Yacht Club Games Reflects on the First Half of 2015
@StephenYap3 I don't consider it Metroidvania either, it's a side-scrolling game retro style a la ducktales, castlevania or megaman (the 3 biggest clear influences on the game).
Re: Talking Point: 2015 - A Peculiar Year of New, Old and Surprising Nintendo Games
Re: Talking Point: 2015 - A Peculiar Year of New, Old and Surprising Nintendo Games
Re: Yusuke Hashimoto Talks Star Fox Zero and Collaborating with Nintendo
@MrRight Dude, calm your t*ts, this isn't the usual website where you can swear to no end. Secondly, if the man passed on the project, it was his decision, you're a nobody who cannot judge another person for the decisions he/she makes. Finally, that's your opinion of the game, and nobody cares about it.
Re: Feature: Why We're Still Playing... Metroid Fusion
Too bad.
Re: Feature: Why We're Still Playing... Metroid Fusion
Re: Feature: Nintendo's Most Notable Moments of 2015
@mjc0961 You know what is the worst thing? TFH got elected in miiverse as one of the 3 most popular choices and here on nintendolife it came on top 5 of the best of 3DS this 2015 despite being the sh*ttiest game I've played in a while. As a super fan of the Zelda series, this is the first time I feel offended by Mr. Aonuma.
Re: Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima Has Published a New Message for Shareholders and Investors
Re: Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima Has Published a New Message for Shareholders and Investors
Re: Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima Has Published a New Message for Shareholders and Investors
Re: Game of the Year: Nintendo Life's Reader Awards 2015
I understood why ALL of the games for both the Wii U and 3DS were nominated, as I understand the charm of each one, but can anyone explain to me what the hell is the appeal of triforce heroes? To this day, I still don't see what people see in that piece of trash game. I mean, it's just a sh*tty version of four swords adventures, just trying to appeal with the costumes, not to mention that you really need 3 people to enjoy the game to its fullest, and on top of that, the game isn't even that fun.
Re: Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima Has Published a New Message for Shareholders and Investors
Re: Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima Has Published a New Message for Shareholders and Investors
Re: Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima Has Published a New Message for Shareholders and Investors
Let's all hope for the first.
Re: Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima Has Published a New Message for Shareholders and Investors
Simple really.
Re: Project M Development Ends as Its Team Looks Ahead to 'New Projects'
@PlywoodStick I wouldn't call this a better game than smash 4 for the main reason that it is brawl with melee physics (at least that's how it felt to me). Smash 4 is a much more solid entry as it appeals to both sides: the melee hardcore fanbase and the more casual brawl community; everything just falls into place spectacularly.
Re: Shigesato Itoi on the Mother Series' Popularity, Denies Mother 4
@Morph His mindset doesn't have anything to do at all with technology, but with creativity. He feels that there isn't anything new he can add or create for the Mother series, therefore, he doesn't want to do something related to it, simple as that. I respect the man for that, instead of milking the Mother series to death (looking at you square enix with crappy modern final fantasy), he kept it short and sweet; otherwise the series wouldn't be so alluring and mystical as it is today.
Re: Shigesato Itoi on the Mother Series' Popularity, Denies Mother 4
@Iggly He made sure that there's no way of continuing the original series. Itoi ended it on such a high note and with a very conclusive ending that I cannot imagine a way that he could continue either Ness or Lucas' story. In the year 2030, when he finally feels like working on Mother 4, I think that he would create a brand new story and start another arc from scratch than rehash the same story.
@TheRedCap30 Agreed.
Re: Shigesato Itoi on the Mother Series' Popularity, Denies Mother 4
Re: Review: Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival (Wii U)
