Re: Icon Games: "Nintendo's Policies Put Jobs at Risk"

FOREST_RANGER

Poor developers that have to deal with Nintendo's tough sales policies. I suppose Nintendo implemented the minimum sales policy as a measure of ensuring high quality games, but it backfired because there are still useless or unfinished games on the service. The severe file limit for developers? Nintendo is obviously saving money and resources for the Wii U instead of reserving more server bandwidth, but went too far with cutting resources for the shop channel and left sour tastes. I just don't get why they didn't update the Wii Shop Channel interface.

Oh lighten up. Your opinions are welcome, and not every user is biased towards Nintendo (in fact, many are reasonable). Just don't shout out at others for being critical of your opinions; it happens.

As for the topic, I'm not sure how to feel about this. Should Nintendo go with the tried-and-true traditional button layouts that, for some reason, feel limited in terms of gameplay options, OR should they embrace supposedly immersive motion control gameplays that can be improved upon from Skyward Sword and tires players more easily? I'd actually like a choice, but that'll drive up development costs and time. So Nintendo will probably have to revise their development team and their development pipeline

I really like how the GameCube is designed. I do see it as a bit childish, but it was also a high-tech toy for me. As a matter of fact, I liked its colorful childishness. Might be mainly because I was 10 years old when I initially bought this.

I think removing the internal battery will void the warranty. At least, that's what I conclude from someone who said that their Nyko+ voided their warranty.

Re: Machinarium Finally, Officially Cancelled

<Sigh>, it would have been cool to see Machinarium on the Wii. Luckily, I have it on PC, so it doesn't bother me. Well, good luck to them if they try a WiiU port.

As for the old games like N64 taking up little space, we must remember that those assets took much less space than today. Textures were very small, color palettes were limited, 3d models were more simple, and most music were synthesized. Machinarium uses a lot of bitmaps and layered high resolution backgrounds, there are multiple soundtracks that are audio files (not midi), and there are lots of noise that are also audio files.

Re: Machinarium Finally, Officially Cancelled

Well, I did find it mysterious as to how they would fit all those bitmaps (which the game is mostly made of), sound effects, music, fonts, and more into the 40 MB limit. Keep in mind that the game also makes you examine the surrounding environment, which seems a little silly in a mere 720x480 resolution. They could trim the size, but then they would need more work and time, meaning more money. And, let's face it, WiiWare isn't very popular compared to other online shops, so it's just too risky for them.

Re: Nintendo Developing New Game Genres to Revitalise 3DS

FOREST_RANGER

Will this put a dent on their production of sequels or spin-offs of their historical titles? On the other hand, I like to see new things. If they make new games that are different, I hope they're fun for all AND have high replay value. I'm unsure of what to view of this speech...

Re: Feature: Fun and Frights on Nintendo - Part 1

Nice, I'll have to get the games on my Wii. In other news, I just want to see Capcom combine Resident Evil 4's game mechanics with the previous Resident Evils' unrelenting atmosphere, truly frightening enemies, and a bit of Gothic architecture. I don't want to see more action-oriented atmosphere reminiscent of present-day shooters.
