I’m a few hours in and loving this more than when I played it on PS4, especially in handheld. Frame rate isn’t a thing I’m worried about, the game has been running smoothly, and it’s personally one of the best looking games I’ve seen on Switch. I also hear the Switch 2 people frustrated by the lack of dedicated port for them, but honestly I’m genuinely happy to hose of us still locked to the original Switch for xyz reasons, are receiving great games like this.
I think Gen V did it best by clearing the board till the post game. While we're on the topic of the PokeDex though, am I the only one who rename the National Dex? Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh were all part of one country (Japan), so calling it a National Dex makes a lot of sense. Post that though our regions have been more diverse across the world (USA, France, UK, Spain etc), so wouldn't calling it the International Dex make more sense?
And in that, wouldn't that be a possible solution if we aren't going to be able to "catch 'em all" in a gen now? Just refine the available Pokemon per region, make each region, feel unique to visit based on the Pokemon you encounter, much like Black and White. Keep it fresh till post game.
@Not_Soos Maybe?? I was just saying the other day there seems to be a pattern of not getting the original versions on NSO if they've released a re-make on Switch, but guess I'll eat my words. Wonder if we'll see Advance Wars some time too?
I understand people's frustration but I'm honestly happy with the pricepoint for what it is. $30 NZD for a good quality Pokemon game vs $100 NZD for what has been kinda lackluster for me the past few gens. Playing through Leaf Green for the first time and it's good to actually feel like I'm putting in a level of effort and having to think about my choices with Pokemon again is a nice change of pace. Is it slow in parts? Sure, but as I heard elsewhere this morning "It may not respect my time, but it does respect my intellegence"
In a similar way this reminded me of playing Emerald and getting up to the brail sections. By that age I'd heard of brail but this was the first time anything had made me think about it, like how to physically feel letters and kind of understand a different point of view around language from my own.
Sure does! I don't charge it super reguarly, but every now and again I get the DS Lite or the GBA Micro out for the kids to play on for a bit. So charged enough they can have a good play session on a rainy weekend.
Had to go Gen 1, thier box art are burned into my earliest memories of Pokemon. I didn't get any of the games till Gen 3, but the Gen 1 boxes are iconic and loomed over me as a child going into stores or looking through catalogues, always the one aspect out of my reach
Not knocking the Xenoverse games, but I was a little hopeful this wouldn’t be Xenoverse 3, and something closer to DBZ: Kakarot in terms of gameplay. Action RPG, open world/zones, with maybe somewhat open ended storytelling. Toriyama had spent almost a couple of decades fleshing out the world of Dragon Ball during Age 1000, initially for the mmorpg, it would be nice to experience that setting with a bit more depth.
@a1904 Same but in reverse for me. Here in New Zealand I can wake up and start my day with a direct stremed only a couple of hours before I wake up. Pretty good way to start the day!
One of my dreams when I was younger was to be able to play Emerald on the TV (played on GBA Micro so to be honest any screen bigger would have been better). So if for some reason we don't get the rest of the GBA games on here, at least this will be the closest I get to that wishfulfilment!
Side note, has anyone seen if this will run at the native 60FPS it did back in the day?

@BTB20 I always forget that the GB Links Awakening is on there, that's a good point!
