Sorry other Nintendo fans but, running a business isn't about how likable a CEO is. It's about doing what's best for the company, and if that means that Iwata has to step down, then so be it. He's out of touch with what video game consumers want, and the longer he's the head of Nintendo, the longer the company will continue to suffer because ultimately, he makes the final decisions on what Nintendo does next. When the Wii U was revealed, Iwata said that Nintendo would try to capture the hardcore gamers again but if that was true, they would have dropped the Wii name. Games are constantly being delayed and there's almost no 3rd party support, and Iwata just says "please understand". Give me a break. Nintendo is stuck in the past and will stay there until they get fresh blood running things.

It's not like the butt was graphic, it's a can for crying out loud. I believe that it got censored because the can is a woman. On tv here, it is more accepted to see a male butt than to see a female without the program being rated tma or rated r.

I really enjoyed the direct. For me, it created a little buzz about the Wii U. My only disappointment however, wasn't flipnote studio 3d news. Besides that, I think this was the best ND of the year.

Personally, I think if the Wii U doesn't start selling by the end of 2014, then it won't be stocked in a lot of stores. Nintendo just can't convince their mass market on why they need a Wii U, and that's what really hurts their success.

I think they should have ditched the Wii name all together. It would have made it easier for the typical consumer to distinguish between the Wii and Wii U. The Gamepad isn't all that essential to the gameplay atm, but hopefully Nintendo will make a game that shows off what the Gamepad can do. I think the Wii U will sell because of games like MK8 and SSB, but it won't live up to the Wii in terms of sales.

I thought I'd want to get a Wii U this year, but I don't. Nintendo just hasn't sold it to me yet. Sure there are some games coming out for it that I want, but it's nothing that's going to make me run out and buy one at this moment in time. Maybe in another year or two I'll change my mind, but until then, I'll just focus on my 3ds library.

I was at Mc Donald's on Sunday, and I actually went INSIDE, and the rely didn't work even though the Nintendo zone was available. Hopefully this issue is fixed because the update will be pointless for me.

I got it for ps3 yesterday... Nintendo is going to miss out on a lot of potential sales without the game because, that's all anyone is talking about buying or playing right now.

The problem is Nintendo is so set in the past but, they've been around for so long, so it's kind of expected. That still isn't an excuse as to why they don't listen to their consumers. A lot of people have been saying for the longest that we want an online account system, but there still isn't one. If we did have accounts, I would actually buy retail games online but until that happens, I'll stick to physical copies.

I've been to McDonalds and Starbucks, and the Nintendo zone nor the relay system worked.

I won't be needing this service because I haven't played Pokémon since Gameboy Advance SP, but that'll change with Pokémon X.

@Cruznbaby85 I hate when Nintendo fanboys say that Microsoft or Sony doesn't have any innovation. So according to you, they have been doing the same thing since they released their first consoles without adding any new features or software. Give me a break. I like Nintendo, but I do realize there are other companies that offer DIFFERENT gaming experiences. Have you even played a console that wasn't made by Nintendo?

Hopefully this is released in NoA on August 1st as well. I think that will most likely be the release date (if not, the 8th), because the sample flipnotes are back on the homepage of the eshop.

At first I was kind of sad that I missed platinum by 30 points, but now that I see the rewards I'm okay with that. The rewards aren't as good as they have been in the past couple of years, but at least they're free

@Ren that is exactly how I'm feeling. I usually support Nintendo first before I do Sony, but now with such a small price difference, I might get a ps4 before I get a Wii U. I'm waiting till the holiday season to decide too.

The problem with the Wii U is that there is no reason to have it at the moment. The adverage consumer thinks that the Wii U is just a Gamepad, which is where Nintendo's marketing failed. This could have easily been avoided if the system were given a different name, but Nintendo thought they could continue to live off the Wii's name. Nintendo claims that it is trying to reach out to the "hardcore gamer", but most will be willing to pay $50 extra to get a ps4, so where is the Wii U price cut? I only see the Wii U selling to casuals (which may not be as big a market anymore) and loyal Nintendo fans. Personally, I don't think any system will enjoy major sales until there are price cuts.

I'll be using my spare eshop money for something else...

Naturally, people want what they can't have. Region locking may be "a problem", but if the Wii U and 3ds were region free, how many people would actually take advantage of it? Sure it would be nice if Nintendo consoles were region free, but I'm not bothered that they are region locked.

@element187 those are all good games, but for the most part, they don't really show off the console's potential.

With the Wii U, I'm looking for new features that make the Gamepad essential to game play. If it's just going to be used as a second screen for maps and inventory, then what's the point? It doesn't take that long to press start to look at a map or change the item that you are using.

I have to agree with Miyamoto about the whole a new character doesn't make a new game bit, but Nintendo could really benefit from a new IP. Consumers get tired of seeing the same type of games being released over and over again.

I just want Nintendo to release a game that shows why you need to own a Wii U. Is that too much to ask for?

I have to agree with Patcher this one time. The only reason why I will eventually get a Wii U, is to play Nintendo games. I'll get my fill of 3rd party games on the ps4. Now I just have to decide which one I'm going to support first...

I want a gold 3ds. Too bad I already have one. If Nintendo releases a gold or green 3ds with the new zelda game, I'll be pissed because I really want one of those colors, and I won't be able to get them.

@koopakid I'm with you on the part about Nintendo not using the Gamepad in a way that adds something special to the game play. It's mostly used as a map, which is part of the reason why I've stayed away from the Wii U. When the console truly adds new gaming experiences, then I will buy one, but until then, I'll do my gaming on my 3ds and other last gen consoles that I own.

I haven't played pokemon in over 6 years... Hopefully cheating won't be a problem in pokemon x and y, because I'm planning on getting back into the series.

@smashbrolink let me rephrase what I said. When I said that the Wii U is half-baked, I'm talking about the idea behind it. Where is the system selling game that uses the Wii U to its full potential(please don't say nintendoland, as it isn't a system seller)? It's a problem when Nintendo doesn't know what to do with their own console. Using the Gamepad as a map in games like mario is nothing revolutionary, and sets the tone for 3rd parties to follow suit. Hopefully games that make the Gamepad essential to the gameplay are in development. I think the Wii U is overpriced, seeing that it doesn't match the competition under the hood, and asks for a similar price range. I definitely see a price drop by $50 for the Wii U in the near future. As for lack of third party support, Nintendo needs to sell more systems, so that won't be a problem anymore. I'm not completely writing Nintendo off, as they happen to be my favorite gaming company, I just can't support the Wii U at the moment though.

@coalmoore I'm with you on that one. I try to support Nintendo, but they are making it really hard with the half baked Gamepad, virtually no third party support, and the Wii U being overpriced.

@Captain_Balko I've never played Pikmin, so that's not a system seller to me (SSB or Mk8 are though). I suppect there to be a price cut,if not, really good christmas bundles (then Nintendo will make me want to buy their console first). I'll eventually buy a Wii U, but at the moment, it isn't number one on my list of gaming related products to buy.

@Captain_Balko Smash bros won't be out this year though. I want to see Nintendo do well, trust me, but they don't have a killer must have game that uses the Gamepad in a way that makes it essential to gameplay. Until my previous statement is false or there is a price cut, I will not be excited about getting a Wii U. If I have to miss out on some games then so be it.

@Captain_Balko honestly, I can say I'm NOT excited about getting a Wii U anymore, even with those games. I can get my fill of Nintendo games on my 3ds, and I can get a ps4, which is a better buy for me, looking at only a $50 price difference and how much more powerful it is. Please DON'T be a blinded fanboy. Nintendo still might be in trouble this holiday season, even with its "fantastic Nintendo IP".

The problem with the Gamepad is that it is treated like the bottom half of the ds. In most cases, it is only used to display maps. Once Nintendo develops titles that ACTUALLY use the Gamepad in a major way that is essential to gaming on the Wii U, then sales will pick up if they haven't by christmas.

I still don't see the Wii U Gamepad being used in an innovative way (besides maybe nintendoland). I thought after e3, I would want to rush out and get a Wii U, but I still don't really have a reason to. I'll get the system when the Gamepad isn't as much of a gimmick anymore, and actually adds to the gaming experience. Until then, it looks likes PS4 for me. I'll just get my fill of Nintendo games on my 3ds.

I tried to watch it live stream, but the video wouldn't even show up. Of course I got pissed, but then I remembered that I could watch it later on the eshop. It's all good now though

I definitely see Nintendo slashing off $50 from the Wii U deluxe set. Without a price cut, people will be willing to pay an extra $50 for ps4. If they don't lower the price, then the ps4 will be the first console I buy this gen.

I think that if Nintendo makes games that are more focused towards western markets, it could drop its "kiddie" reputation, and attract more gamers in the west.

It would be nice to have an actual set release date for Flipnote Studio 3d in NoA (instead of "early August"), seeing that every other region got one... Hopefully it'll come out in the same week for us as UK/EU.

If Nintendo released its games on other platforms, that would take away from Nintendo selling consoles and handhelds. I buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games, and if it weren't for its first party titles, Nintendo probably would have went out of business a long time ago.

I'm not really sure about this game. Everyone here seems to want it, but I don't know if it's the kind of game that I'll actually be glad that I purchased it. Nintendo marketed it as a kiddie game, and that is what has me on the fence about it. Maybe once a few people that I know have tried it out, I might get it, depending on what they think of the game.
