Leaving aside the main subject, I think it's time for Nintendo to release their Virtual Boy games in the 3DS eShop. I hear a couple of them were good, and people would finally be able to see them properly.
Car navigator? What, can you use the gamepad to remote control you car from your house? Or does it come with a car plug to make the pad work as a GPS? Or are they talking about racing games?
The screen size has never bothered me. The one thing that makes the 3DS hard to enjoy is the low battery life. A bigger screen would only make the battery go even faster. They need to focus on the battery first and then later they can change anything they want.
I actually like the fact that they're adding voices. It gives the LEGO franchise a much needed upgrade. Besides, I think the ominous voices coming from such cute characters adds to the charm rather than take away from it.
I like the idea, but I HATE the looks of the characters. I'm a fan of the traditional look, and this new style does nothing for me. BTW, I can't see the trailer, I'm talking about what I see in the game's official website.
"12 years ago, SEGA launched the Dreamcast, a console with all the promise in the world. Two years later, without a single EA game in its catalogue, it officially died."
Well, that's a pretty terrible analogy. The reasons the Dreamcast failed are far many more than just the lack of EA games. That's not to mention the fact that SEGA was in a bad place already. Also, EA was much more different 12 years ago than it is now.
As long as Nintendo doesn't let EA take over the development of its franchises, the problem might be insignificant, but still, I'd take this bit of news with caution rather than hope.
Well, technically speaking, Metal Gear Solid 3D already does this with the custom camos. When you take a picture of a certain color you can use it to camouflage in certain areas. I took a picture of an old dirty greenish-brown wooden table in my work and used it to camouflage in forests with great success.
And yes, I play at work. When I have some free time, it's not like I stop doing my job to play... most of the time.
I'm all in for this idea. There are so many DS games that are a pain to find, specially in my country, since I have to order them from overseas. This would make sure I'd just go to my job and tell them to directly send my paycheck to Nintendo.
Hey, I'm having an issue here. I open the Virtual Console menu on the eShop and it's filled with games that are NOT just from the Virtual Console, but also DSiWare and 3DSware. WHAT THE FREAKING HECK? How long has it been like this? This is stupid to no end! Or is it an error on my side?
I've said this before, but there's something people are not considering: import taxes mean that retail prices in many countries are much higher than in the North America, Europe or Japan.
In my country, the cheapest way to bring retail games still costs almost double the price than in the US. But there are no taxes for digital games (or they are ridiculously small), which means that in those countries digital distribution will always prevail.
This is the reason Steam is such a success all over the world, despite its games being at the same price as retail (well, that and constant sales, but I digress). That and the fact that we don't have to wait for weeks for our games to arrive in the mail.
@Tech101 Coins do expire if they're not used in two years. According to the Club Nintendo FAQ (http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/club/en/faq.jsp): "Unredeemed Coins expire after 2 Club Nintendo years (July 1-June 30)"
Anyway, I'll probably be getting PiCTOBiTS. It seems like a good puzzle game and I've always wanted to check it out.
I have to say, digital downloads would be a blessing for me. The price for retail games in my country is too big (at least double the price than in the US), so being able to purchase a game in my country at the same price as retail in the US would be a major advantage to me.
Now, I definitely need to stock up on SD cards, but those are cheap.
As it was mentioned before, this is not a Kickstarter campaing, they're just using the same model. Though, to be fair, it's better for them this way. They don't need a "kickstart", they need a "refuel".
Then again, no, I don't think this is a good idea. Sure, you have some nifty rewards if you help them, but they're using Kickstarter's fame for the wrong purposes. I get they had some bussiness problems, but this is not the solution for you. There are many more people and projects out there who actually need and deserve our support.
When this very same website made an article days ago about there being too many Mario games, people defended them, saying that the quality of them was always great and they weren't going to get tired of them.
Now Nintendo officially announces the name of the Mario game they've already told us they were going to release, the game has elements from one of the best game in the series, and THEY GET MAD?
What... what is wrong with all of you? Even if Nintendo hadn't already said they were going to make another 2D Mario (news people had already embraced as a good thing back when they announced it), this game has elements from SMB3! I... I just don't get it... I can't understand it... People just love to be upset, it has to be that.
... and this game looks generic as heck. Apparently it's been simplified because it's made with children in mind. So yeah, don't expect another Shantae. Instead, expect something like Power Rangers: Dino Thunder for the GBA.
Well, of course. AFTER I jumped through several hoops to buy Kid Icarus 3D it shows up in the eShop. And no Zelda? Drat. Well, even if it's not a good week for me, it is for other people.
Maybe the guy is right, but his attitude is arrogant and execrable. Am I supposed to believe Sony and Microsoft don't demand stupid things too? Yeah, you're gonna have a hard time convincing me of such thing.
I'm pretty sure any of the other two gave him a major offer if he managed to diss Nintendo in public. Besides, seriously, for this day and age, 6000 sales is nothing. Any small game manages to do it in the first few hours of release.
Edit: "Also, I checked out his Twitter and he said, 'The Wii is a toy, not a console.'" Well, this proves me right. If, after all this time, they're still trying to make the Wii look bad, these guys are obvious trolls.
@SkywardLink98 @grumblebuzzz Guys, that doesn't matter. The greatest thing about this app is how easily you can create spectacular works of art even if you're not good at drawing. Colors! 3D will turn anyone into an artist.
If this thing has a bad side, is that I can already picture Greg Land using it. I hate that guy.
This is really a classic. Younger players might scoff at it for being too hard, and I will counter with games today being actually too easy. We could go at this for hours, so all I'm gonna say is "Dodongo dislikes smoke!"
Sure, you can say Mario games are plentiful, but at least Nintendo worries about quality and making the games different enough. This hasn't happened with other franchises, such as Guitar Hero.
Besides, like moomoo said, if Pokemon keeps selling millions despite being more frequent and even more derivative than Mario, I see no reason to worry about.
@Duney Dude, with all due respect, that's a terrible analogy. Movies and games are two entirely different things. Besides, it's not like we're asking them to develop new games every week. We're asking them to bring VC games, which have already been developed, and even released in other regions.
@nick_gc Do you remember the original price of the game? I think this is considerably cheaper than getting it at that price or even finding the thing on eBay.
Plus, what else do you expect me to do? Wait for Nintendo to lower the price? Even if that was possible, I don't think paying more for a game you enjoy is being an idiot. If that was true, I'd be an idiot for every single retail game I've bought, since they're all more expensive where I live. I had to pay $80 for RE: Revelations, while it's half the price in the US. It was either that or waiting months to get a sligthly cheaper used copy.
It's not being an idiot paying full price, at the very least it's being impatient.
Mmmm... The fact that Super Mario World is known as Super Mario Bros. 4 in Japan means absolutely nothing. Remember: Super Mario Bros. 2 is known as Doki Doki Panic in Japan, while their own Super Mario Bros. 2 is known as "The Lost Levels" here and is taken as a sort of "expansion pack" for the first SMB.
So, if they wanted to make a new SMB game they could easily title it "Super Mario Bros. 4" in America/Europe while giving it an entirely different name in Japan, like "Super Mario vs. Predator" or whatever they choose. This kind of thing is still happening today. Look at the new Pokemon game: "Nobunaga's Ambition" in Japan and "Conquest" in America.
Come on, Nintendo. Contra, Castlevania, SMB3. Make it happen. At the very least give us the things you've given to other regions. I had to purchase 3D Classics: Kid Icarus through eBay because you only sell it through Gamestop, which only sells to US residents.
Hey, if Assassin's Creed III is going to be on the Wii U, we can count on it being AT LEAST as powerful as current ones. No need to worry on that department.
@pariah164 Yeah, that's pretty much the general consensus, except for a few people. I've never played any of their games, but I'm sure as heck not excited for their descriptions everywhere I look.

@James I don't know about him, but I have absolutely no chance of having 3D Classics: Kid Icarus until released in the eShop. Gamestop won't sell to my country, so I couldn't preorder Uprising there (the same for the other two stores that had the code) and I can't purchase Classics there either.

@Samholy Well, things are not the same for everyone. Some people have more sensitivity and still get headaches when watching movies in 3D.
I've never had a problem with movies, save for the uncomfortability of the glasses, and the 3DS never game me any headache either. The only problem I had was an inmediately noticeable eyesore when I amped up the 3D effect at maximum in an option in Resident Evil: Revelations menu.
Then again, I only tried that once and I was very tired that night. Maybe if I tried it again it won't affect me. But the native 3D effect of the console has never caused me trouble.
$250? I bought my 3DS last december, after the price drop, and I had to pay $390. The import taxes in my country are terrible. Had I been able to get them for $250 I would have bought two. And trust me, my salary is crap. But who needs food when there are Nintendo games to play?
