Re: Nintendo Europe to Host 3D Photo Contest

Dreadjaws

The 3DS camera is hit or miss. Taking pictures inside turns images into a disgusting mess of regurgitated pixels, but pictures at broad daylight can be incredibly beautiful, specially with the use of some of the camera's filters.

Now, even though I can't enter it, I'm curious as how is this contest going to be handled. Can you send pictures through Swapnote or something?

Re: Feature: Our Favourite 3DS Games So Far

Dreadjaws

@TeeJay I think that you should take into account the entire sentence. It was "inevitable" because everyone in their team voted for it.

Well, I haven't played half of those games, so I can't say I agree with the list, but those I played I loved. I would have put Revelations higher, though. I absolutely loved it. The campaign is great and the Raid Mode is absolutely addictive.

Looking forward to the rest of the year for my 3DS. I've never been so happy with a console.

Re: 3DS Celebrates First Birthday in Europe

Dreadjaws

I frickin' love my 3DS. I got it in December, and between the card/cartdrige games, the 3DSware games and the VC games I can't get enough of it. I take it with me wherever I go, and I play with it every day. I've never felt so much love for a console before.

Perhaps it's because I got lucky of getting the console just at the moment of its resurgence, when the major titles were released, but I've played most of the greatest portable games in existence thanks to this console, and many more are yet to come.

Re: Resident Evil Revelations Producer Says Series Needs Action for Success

Dreadjaws

@The_Fox

I'm not going to make any assumption. I read it very clearly: Call of Duty sells more. But you know what? It's an entirely different genre. If you want to make a shooter, make one, but don't use the Resident Evil franchise for it. So what, just because Pokemon sells more than Silent Hill are you going to make a new SH game in which you can capture the monsters and throw them against Pyramid Head? Sure, it might be a fun game, but you'd lose every fan of the series in the process.

Also, while I liked RE5, Revelations is far superior in pretty much everything, and it's because it's LESS action-oriented. As for the old series, the only reason this is a franchise today it's because they sold really well. And, for the love of God, even though RE didn't start the genre of Survival Horror, it did coin the name, you can't just take that away.

Re: Review: Metal Gear Solid (Game Boy Color)

Dreadjaws

Oh, how I loved this game. I played it several times, even while I had games with superior graphics in my PC and non-handheld consoles. This is actually the first Metal Gear title I ever played. It's the game that got me into the franchise. Should it come to the VC (please, please let it happen), I'd buy it on day one.

Re: Review: Box Pusher (DSiWare)

Dreadjaws

Well, since this is Sokoban, and there are hundreds of free versions out there, I don't think I'll be getting it any soon.

I do like Sokoban, but so far the only incentive for this one is the portability.

Re: Review: Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D (3DS)

Dreadjaws

I'm still waiting for the game and CPP to arrive in the mail. I loved the original in PS2 and the demo looks great, but I can't play with those controls (I played Subsistence, though, I never played the original MGS3).

I loved how the 3D effect dissapears when you're aiming in first person mode. It's realistic, since in real life you close one eye when doing it.

Re: Nintendo Leaves BAFTA Empty-Handed

Dreadjaws

@Token_Girl

I agree. Portal 2 was spectacular in every way, and it was definitely innovative, but Peggle? Frickin' Peggle? Don't get me wrong, I love the game. I've played Peggle and Peggle Nights on PC and Peggle on DS, but for the love of God, it's an old game! And it still has the exact same mechanics it had when it was released the first time.

@md1500
I think you might be right. It's like the rest of the industry is jealous of the big N, because they've been saying it's doomed for decades now and they keep attacking them despite being proven wrong all these years. Nintendo is powerful enough to have more than one failed console in its history and yet keep on the race, and winning. Who else has been able to do that?

Re: Capcom Admits It Can't 'Sugarcoat' Its Revelaitons Typo

Dreadjaws

I don't get it. Capcom sees this tiny mistake and they humbly admit there's no excuse for it and promise to make sure it doesn't happen again, yet they screw up with the Street Fighter X Tekken's "DLC" and they try to blame the customers for not being dumb enough.

Why is Capcom's PR such a mess? It's always the same guy talking (Svensson), so what, does he have a personality disorder or is he just repeating what he's told no matter what?

Re: Mathematics Proves That Mario Games Are Difficult

Dreadjaws

Well, there's a reason they coined the phrase "Nintendo Hard". But then again, having grown up with those games I don't think they were particularly difficult to figure out. What I think is that games today are far too easy in comparison.

Now, I haven't played SMB3 in a while, but I remember it being easier than SMB, despite having many more choices and bigger worlds and levels. And the hardest one in the franchise has to be the japanese SMB2, the one known here as "The Lost Levels".

Re: SEGA Drops Four Sonic Games from Japanese VC

Dreadjaws

@Nintendanforth

This is the only theory here that makes sense. I don't see SEGA making another console, and if there were ending contracts they would have told us. Yet they JUST started having Game Gear games in the 3DS VC, which clearly means SEGA is not at odds with Nintendo. Besides, SEGA games are not the only ones taken out.

Still, an explanation would be nice.

Re: Review: CRUSH3D (3DS)

Dreadjaws

I really liked the demo, but there are still a couple of other titles I want to get before this one. I will purchase this eventually, though. Maybe in a couple of months.

Re: Review: Super Mario Bros. (3DS eShop / NES)

Dreadjaws

@lonlon-milker
She? Hahahahahahaha! So naive...

I bought this game on VC on release day. You simply must have it. It hasn't lost its charm nor its challenge. The game every great platformer is based on, and still one of the best.

Now, all I have to wait for are SMB3 and Contra. Two of my favorite NES games ever.

Re: Indie Developer Phil Fish Says Japanese Games 'Suck'

Dreadjaws

@JimLad
I predict had that happened people wouldn't have been so outraged. I'm not defending him, I'm saying that at least had he done that he would have the excuse of being clearly insane. As of now, he only proves to be arrogant, ignorant, disrespectful and plainly stupid, not to mention terrible at PR and marketing.

For instance, even if I've never heard of this guy or his game before, I'm gonna make a point to never purchase this game or any other he makes, unless until he apologizes.

And I mean a REAL apology, not that half-assed "I'm sorry I said you're stupid, but you really are stupid".

Re: Review: Metroid (3DS eShop / NES)

Dreadjaws

@Chicken_Brutus
Hey, thanks. It's the honest truth, I was on the fence about getting it, but as I started thinking while writing, I got myself more and more interested for it, and I ended up purchasing it after posting the message.

@Mardt
Hey, it's cool how many of us have the same metroid avatar with different effects applied to it.

Re: Review: Metroid (3DS eShop / NES)

Dreadjaws

@WaxxyOne

Yeah, what's up with that? I get the reviews are made by two different people, but there's practically no difference between both versions besides portability. And quicksaving. And I guess graphics, since they look better on a small screen. And the ability to suspend the game and take notes, which allows you to make your own map.

OK, I honestly started this post agreeing with you, but now that I actually think about it, this is clearly the superior version. You know what? I'm going to buy it right now. I'm already playing Super Metroid on my Wii and Metroid II on my 3DS, but this series is just great.

Re: Nintendo: "We Refuse to Succumb to Patent Trolls"

Dreadjaws

@Ren

Well, then there should be a way for those who sue to prove they can actually build their device. You give them an estimated time and money for them to build their "invention" and if they can't or won't then they have to give the money back plus pay a fine or be counter-sued.

Also, your example with Thomas Edison doesn't precisely suit your point. If he stole the ideas and patented them himself how the heck was the law going to help the original inventors? It would help Edison, since he held the patents, for inventions he didn't come up with. This example actually proves the patent laws are messed up. Anyone can steal your idea, patent them themselves before you get a chance and you won't be able to sue because they have the patents.
