Re: Spaceball: Revolution - First Screenshots

Crazed

I basically agree with Ren and Sean Aaron. If the controls aren't stupid and the review is good, then I'll consider it. Even though it's a puzzler, the puzzle genre has been quite successful as of late, and the core graphics/sound looks good. Unless this turns out to be one of Yogurt's merchandising plans, I'll keep a little interest in this.

Re: Robocalypse - Beaver Defense Coming to WiiWare

Crazed

@Corbie- That was a good show.

As for the game, I might get it just for the Wi-Fi play alone. I haven't really played a tower defense game, but I've seen other people play similar games, and it looks better than Crystal Defenders, so I'll keep my out for this one. Wow, there are some fairly good games being announced lately.

Re: Equilibrio Available on WiiWare Today in North America

Crazed

@BLueSS- First, congrats on beating the game in an hour. To do so with the Wii Balance Board is extremely impressive, especially to someone who said that it was a real challange to do so.

Now I want to comment about the review you gave. Most of the stuff I read I noticed as well (I just didn't mind it myself) and agree upon, so I just have a few comments.

1) I did think that it was tedious that every time you beat the challange mode or random mode, you went straight back to the main menu, but I didn't think much of it since with the wiimote it only took a minute to get back to gameplay. I did notice that it takes longer to load up the game with the balance board, so I understand where the comment came from.

2)An in-game clock would have been nice for scorekeeping, since the scoring does seem like an odd combination of time and lives lost.

3)Were you able to try the game out on multiplayer? For a game that is focused on casual family play, it seems rather harsh for either of us to give it an accurate score without playing the multiplayer mode.

4)This is just my personal opinion, but I don't think any game is fun if you blow through it in an hour. Granted, beating it in an hour is impressive, but I ended up enjoying the game more through pacing myself and not just going rushing through all the levels in an hour.

Other than the comments above, I would have to agree (in one way or another) with what you. However, other than wishing I would have added in the fact that you can't choose the level you want after beating all the levels, I still believe it's a good game at a great price, and I would still recommend this game to just about anyone up for a quick challange.

Re: Equilibrio Available on WiiWare Today in North America

@Syr- Thanks for the compliments. Hope you like it.

@Kristof- Thank you for the compliments, and congrats on a great game! I'm still playing it (and enjoying it), but I haven't been able to try any of the multiplayer modes. Hopefully the multiplayer mode will be in the official review. As with the other aspects on the game, I didn't come across many problems. Even though I did say that it was difficult on the wii balance board, it still is a fun challange (it's just incredibly difficult.) Here's to it being on the top 20 soon!

Re: Equilibrio Available on WiiWare Today in North America

Crazed

Sorry about that Syr and to everyone else. I like to try and sleep on a game before I try to bash it since my gaff with Bonsai Barber. Anyway... I hope you like the review.

It might be an almost instant download to most because it is only 500 points, but would you buy for...say....1000 points? Well, this game isn't worth 1000 points, but its awfully close.

The gameplay is nice. With different levels, you are given one of multiple playable balls to complete the level with: Paper ball, a ball that doesn't break, but doesn't roll as fast, Rubber ball, a bouncy ball that sometimes gets to out of control, Iron ball, an indestructable ball (except in acid) that gets a ton of speed and is my personal favorite, and the wood ball, the average ball used in most levels, but my least favorite since it is very fragile. This game also features great level design, and a degree of difficulty that doesn't overly frustrate (at most points) give this game a nice feel.

The graphics are average. They don't really push the Wii's limits, but it doesn't really need to.

The control is probably the most disappointing in my personal opinion. If you play with the normal wiimote, it should be fine to play, but it is very difficult on the balance board. Granted, I just got introduced to the balanced board a few day ago, but as levels get harder, there are times where the precision of the wiimote is just vastly superior to the balance board. Also, the sensitivity in some levels are incredibly difficult to get by at times, and could leave you disoriented. If you like a challange, try it with the balance board, but I highly recommend the wiimote.

Speaking of challanges, the game's most redeeming factor is the challange mode. You are given 5 random levels that you have already beaten and are forced to beat them again with a twist. The twist could range from beating it in x amount of seconds (which increases with tokens you collect mid-level) to having a 2nd ball compete against you for the goal. It not only is fun, but it gives reason why I should play this for more than an hour on the day I downloaded it.

So for anyone on the fence about getting this game, I would recommend that you buy it. Granted, it's probably not going to break any ground, but I can say that it is an enjoyable game with enough challange to intrigue me to keep on playing, Even though it is extremely difficult on the balance board, and there are some sensitivity issues, the challange mode, fun gameplay, and almost no other glaring weekness to the game, I'd say that this game should've been listed at about 800 points, let alone the 500 points it is actually worth.

Bottom line, its a good game at a great price. 7/10

Re: Equilibrio Available on WiiWare Today in North America

Crazed

Since this has been one of my most anticipated games, I'm going to risk it and get it right away. I completely forgot that this game uses the balance board, and I got it as a gift this weekend . Also, I only had 600 points left and thought for sure that it would cost more (I love life's little surprises.) I'm extremely excited to play it, and I'll give a first impression when I can.

Re: Diatomic

Crazed

This game initially interested me, but nothing about it has come up. Hopefully nothing has happened to this game, since it is a very interesting concept and would recieve a lot of attention... if more information was given to help spark the interest.

Re: Curve Officially Announces Explodemon!

Crazed

Good news of article: a date has been announced for the game.
Bad news of article: the game isn't coming until Q4 2009.

Oh, well. No matter who's getting this game first, we all have to wait some time. Hopefully it comes sooner than later.

Re: Magnetis - New Magnetising Puzzler for WiiWare

Crazed

This does have some promise, but I'm more interested with the other puzzler that's on their website, Hole. You navigate through black holes trying to get away from the shrinking space. Hopefully, if this is successful, that game comes to the Wii too.

Re: Explodemon Coming to WiiWare

Crazed

I'm not sold on it juuuust yet. It looks very promising, and explosions like these never get old, but a bit more information on Explodemon would be nice.

Re: Review: Bonsai Barber (WiiWare)

Crazed

@KeeperBvK- I intially thought this was going to be a bad game for three reasons.
1) This looked like a more expensive version of My Aquarium with vegatables.
2) I argued that this would not have a solid audience to sell to.
3) With Equilibrio and Swords & Soldiers having the "coming soon" montra slapped on all of their trailers, it was (at first) disappointing and frustrating that a game with so little following was given the green light over the games mention above.

However, with the reviews and all the positive remarks that this game has gotten, I have to say that I'm impressed. I'm surprised how many people are enjoying this game, and I'm shocked that after BB recieved such a harsh first look (my own quote "This is grade-A shovelware."), so many people are now enjoying this game and rallying it for it to score well on the top 20 charts. The review is not just great, but it answers my suspicions on the game, and from what I can tell it deserves its 8/10. So...with this in mind, I would like to say congratulations to Zoonami and Nintendo for a great addtition to Wiiware, and hopefully another game comes along and surprises us like this game has.

Oh, and to bboy2970, nice job getting people interested in the game. I probably wouldn't be posting this apology without someone so interested in the game on here.

Re: USA WiiWare Update: Bonsai Barber

Crazed

@bboy2970- I do hope that this game is given good reviews as well, and I'm glad you respect my opinion, as I do yours. Also, as I've said before (on the game's forum), I would love to be wrong. At the time, I called it highly unlikely, but it makes me happy when a game like BB ends up being successful when I say otherwise. Probably because I'm a sucker for an underdog.

@Bahamut ZERO- I'm confused as well. Is this a scenario similar to "I'm on Setanta Sports" just changing its name to "Special One TV" and nothing else changing except the name?

Edit- Thanks for the info, Starwolf_UK.

Re: XSEED Games Announces Drill Sergeant Mindstrong for WiiWare

Crazed

Oh, this sound kind of fun...wait, that last screenshot...oh, no...is this game going to interpret simple antics like doing simple math and following commands equivalent as going into the army? Not the best message you're sending us, XSEED (and hopefully someone else shares my concern.)

Re: Review: Bit.Trip: Beat (WiiWare)

Crazed

@KnucklesSonic8- Prepare for an epic final boss battle.

@RankoSao- I can see your skepticism, but here's the thing about Bit. Trip. The recent update for the Wii memory makes any previous space issues a non-issue, and yes, three levels seem short, but the levels are a good 10 min. long (if not longer) and are extremely fun/extremely difficult to play. Get it. You will not be disappointed.

Re: USA WiiWare Update: Bonsai Barber

Crazed

@bboy2970- Hmm, maybe I was too harsh on BB. I'll keep my current opinion, but I'm glad to see that some people like it. As much as I may not like a game, I never want any game to fail (and when I mean by fail, I mean that the game is an absolute bomb and it ruins the company that made it.) So it's good to see that it attracts some people.

Re: USA WiiWare Update: Bonsai Barber

Crazed

I'm certainly not going to buy this game, no matter what the review says. Pardon my arrogance, but their is one main thing keeping me away from this game. BB has no audience in America, since even the garden lovers in America would be more intrested in My Aquarium (since you can arrange the flora in your tank) than this.

I know this is not so in Europe, where many people there (especially in England) are die-hard gardening nuts, and would probably love this game (and I'm not being sarcastic.) My official opinion of the game is this; I don't think this game will crack the top 20, but I won't be surprised if I see this on the European charts.

Oh, and for Crazynoodle, they said on their blog that a "special treat" is going to appear on their blog next week. It could very well be a release date, but it might be about something else as well.

Re: Bonsai Barber

Crazed

No offense Nintendo, but this looks like Grade-A shovelware. Some reasons why I believe My Aquarium did so well was that it was good, it was a launch title for WiiWare, and it is cheap. None of these reasons appear to be true for this title. Anyone that might consider this title probably already has My Aquarium, and even though I'm not a fan of My Aquarium, I would much consider that title over this.

Granted, I would love the review to prove me wrong, but I highly doubt that will happen.

Re: Equilibrio

Crazed

I hope that Equilibrio and/or Swords and Soldiers comes out this Monday along with Bonsai Barber and Texas Hold'em. Equilibrio and Swords and Soldiers both look like terrific games, where Bonsai Barber looks like grade-A shovelware and Texas Hold'em doesn't interest me (despite being mildly good.)

Oh, and I'll give a shout-out to Cocoto Platform Jumper to come out this weekend as well.

Re: Top 20 WiiWare Games in USA (25th Mar)

Crazed

Congratulations to Gaijin games are in order. To surpass my prediction (landing between spots #10-#5) on the top 20 American charts just proves how great this game is. Well done!

Oh, and congrats on beating My Aquarium as well. Hopefully it will fall more. EXTRA: Who knows, maybe this is the start of Bit. Trip taking My Aquarium's spot.

Re: ColorZ

Crazed

Very interesting, but I hope they change the colors in the game. If green and red are the desired paths the UFOs have to take, then this game instantly gets labeled as shovelware to all the people with Red-Green color-blindness, no matter how good the final product is.

Re: Equilibrio

Crazed

Maybe there is a bottleneck effect going on. Only a few games can come out every week, and there are many games that want to be released, therefore causing a huge build-up of "coming soon" games in the wait line. If this is true, I don't see any problem in increasing the amount of available downloads from 1-2 to 3-4. I don't have the theory for sudden announcements of games like Bonsai Barber, however.

Re: 1000 Free Nintendo Points to EU Customers

Crazed

@jangonov- oh...

@Bahamut- Actually, if anyone screwed up, it was Chicken Brutus, since his caption under DSi is that Nintendo loves us all equally, and that isn't the case anymore (now that Japan gets their VC.)

Re: 1000 Free Nintendo Points to EU Customers

Crazed

@Jangonov- Wow. Thanks for the update, and I'm glad that you get to go to sunny Orlando, but it's extremely unfortunate that VC will be released for Japan only (AS OF NOW). Hopefully US and EU will be in on the action soon (and hopefully Nintendo can do something about GBC and GBA games.)

Re: US DSiWare "Launch" Titles Confirmed

Crazed

Small, but a fairly good start. Still a few days left for companies to have their game be a "launch" title, so I wouldn't be surprised if more games surfaced between now and the DSi release.

Re: Rejoice! The DSi Gets a Virtual Console After All

Crazed

This is a fantastic day. VC for the DSi has been confirmed (and, as promise, I apologize about my previous statements and have quadrupled my interest in DSiware), Hudson announces a ton of new games to come out soon, we finally get SAMEGAME, and Bit. Trip has fulfilled my prediction that I made for it 2 weeks ago. Now all we need is for Swords & Soldiers to come out...

Re: Target Confirms 1000 Free DSi Points

Crazed

I have this bad feeling that most of the DSiware games that are going to be released are not going to be that good. Compared to WiiWare, which had LostWinds, Final Fantasy, and Defend Your Castle (not to mention virtual counsle) on it's release date, I can only name Mighty Flip Chimps as a game that people will want to get (and when I see that game, I think Away: Shuffle Dungeon, which only got 6.1 from IGN.)

I'm not saying that this is a good deal, but I'm saying that this might be an advertisement ploy to try and get everyone warmed up to the idea of DSIware, when none of this was needed to attract WiiWare. Hopefully, I'm wrong and this is a huge success, but don't be surprised if you're holding onto these free 1000 points for some time, waiting for a game you want to appear.

As I was writing this, I had an epithiany. Is there going to be Virtual Counsle on the DSIware? That would quadruple my interest in DSIware, and if there is, I would take back everything bad I said about DSIware.

Re: Legendo Announces The Three Musketeers: One For All!

Crazed

I'm now even more excited about this game after reading all the new information. Thanks eripmav!

BTW Thanks for the score on Viewtiful Joe, Omega. What I meant by underrated was that it didn't get enough attention from other people. Apparantly I was wrong. Thanks for the correction.

Re: Swords & Soldiers

Crazed

It's a shame that this will have no online play (according to the interview), but this game will still be fantastic in terms of quality.

Re: Equilibrio

Crazed

Have anyone else noticed lately that when companies say "Coming Out Soon", it's quite some time before the game is actually released. It's not just this game. We expected Bit. Trip. in Feb. and got it in Mar. However, that game came out all right. I don't know how this game will come out, but at least there are photos and a video.

By the way, the video makes me extremely intrigued about this game. I won't expect it out soon, but when it comes, it will be fantastic (I hope.)

Re: Gravitronix

Crazed

The game concept sounds really cool. Hopefully the pictures will be polished and show off the game in its best light.

Re: Legendo Announces The Three Musketeers: One For All!

Crazed

I'm actually very interested. At first I dismissed the game, but I saw the video and read the review (from Deeko.com) and now have it as an anticipated game.
Little extra information for ya. Legendo told Deeko.com that "Viewtiful Joe was an inspiration", and Viewtiful Joe was a underrated, yet remarkable game. Also, the company that made Viewtiful Joe (Clover Studio, now Platinum Games) has gone on to make Okami, GodHand and MadWorld.
Not a bad resume for Platinum games, and not a bad company for Legendo to look up to. Call me excited for this company.

Re: Akinai Games Announces NEVES Plus

Crazed

Sounds interesting, but there have been many puzzles lately (and many are coming out in the next few month.) Hopefully, this game will seperate itself from the other puzzle games.

Re: ColorZ - New WiiWare Puzzler

Crazed

@Sean Aaron & Calculon- Hopefully Exkee will realize this and fix the problem. It would be sad that a color puzzle/action would be left on the wayside just because of a bad color combination, no matter how good/bad it is.

@touffeboy- Very cool (even if you aren't on the staff.)
