@Radbot42 It can't be patched with software updates because it's hardware exploit. nintendo needs to make a new batch with new revised hardware to patch it.

Armloader9hax and gateway 9.2 firmware master race! And for those of you who are afraid of attempting to hacking their 3ds, don't be! So as long as you follow instructions carefully, everything will work out. I have a limited edition mh4u new 3ds xl and I downgraded it perfectly. Take a risk, Stop the paranoia of bricking and start the revolution of hacking.

@Peace-Boy no it does not remove the jailbreak when you update because we have something called emunand and custom firmware which tricks nintendo and allows us to update and not being block by it. Essentially, the 9.2 is your sysnand side and the emunand side is the one you emulate to allow update to 10.6 and it's undetected by nintendo. Allowing you eshop and online access. And my reason to jailbreak my 3ds is because I want my investment to be future proof. If nintendo decides to drop 3ds and eshop support when next gen comes out I want to make sure I can still be able to get games that I didn't have time to play or buy when it was released. Also, I want Japanese games that's not going to be localized.

@Peace-Boy Like I said, if you jailbreak your 3ds, you will have access to eshop and online. The way to do it is access homebrew channel and downgrade your firmware to 9.2. After that install cfw (custom firmware) eg rxtools or reinand. The only way you can brick your 3ds is how incompetent you are and failing to follow instructions carefully

@MitchVogel The update didn't do jack. My 3ds is still jailbroken/modded/playable online and I can still downgrade the 10.7 firmware from other 3ds since nintendo didn't bother updating the native firmware.

Nintendo just f- themselves in the ass again. It is confirmed that you can downgrade from firmware 10.6 to 9.2. For now, the method works for the old 3ds and not the new one.

@Zebetite I know, i'm just educating the people here who doesn't know that their 3ds is potentially exploitable. It's up to them if they want to use their 3ds for good or for evil XD

@Shikinouta All nintendo is trying to do now is to decrease the amount of 3ds with exploitable firmware (10.3 or less) by making people update it. Also to try to prevent people who are new to the underground 3ds scene to become hackers/pirates.

@Bryon15 It's not too difficult to solder a couple wires to a motherboard and connect it to computer. There's a youtube on it btw. However, it all comes down on how experienced you were in highschool shop class. Or you can pay someone to do it for you lol. You should definitely downgrade your 10.3 and get custom firmware eg rxtools/reinand. You'll be more at ease.

@Zebetite Well, they use the word "stability" to cover up that their system security is really bad. Also if nintendo was truthful and says the updates were to increase system security and stop hackers, then this would look bad for business and for investors.

@abbyhitter this update does absolutely nothing other than give more work for hackers to work on and patching 2 exploits (browserhax/menuhax). My modded/jailbroken 3ds still works even after I updated.

@Bryon15 You can still downgrade since nintendo is stupid to not update the native firmware. The only way for people to downgrade with 10.4+ firmware 3ds is to hard mod it. Requires soldering skills and connecting a 3ds motherboard directly to a computer. Luckily, my 3ds is already modded and nintendo can't stop me. Also, if nintendo was truthful, they would look bad for business and for investors. So they use words like "increase stability" to reassure everyone that nothing is wrong with the 3ds.

@GauBan but you have to agree that nintendo is trying to reduce the amount of 3ds with 10.3 or lower firmware by literally forcing you to update to 10.5 in order to play online games.

What nintendo should have done is add the option of petting male characters too so people cannot complain about objectifying women etc. And also no homo lol

@Sionyn wrong, Nintendo is trying to make you update to prevent you from jailbreaking and modding your 3ds since there was an exploit on 10.3 and lower firmware

@GauBan no, that's not the reason. There's a new exploit/hack for any 3ds device with 10.3 or lower firmware that allows you to downgrade and play 'free games'. By forcing you to update, Nintendo is trying to contain this outbreak by patching and blocking the hack of as many 3ds systems below 10.3

This is why I modded and jailbreak my 3ds. Now I can enjoy uncensored jap games for free
