@RiasGremory It is on the harder difficulty levels, but it's not that hard on Easy (nor are the rest of the bosses) if you just use stall tactics to take advantage of the limited automatic health recovery you get on the Easy difficulty level.
@egervari Compared to the original games, sure, but Sw/Sh aren't that much better in areas like battle mechanics, combat speed, controls, and quality of life once you get to Generation 4 and beyond (aside for D/P for combat speed).
As for graphics and sound, they have to be compared to what was possible on the system of release, and most agree that the graphics and animation in Sw/Sh are low quality compared to what can be done on the Switch, even when just looking at the other Switch Pokémon games like "New Pokémon Snap", "Legends Arceus," and the first trailer of "Scarlet/Violet."
Meanwhile, the Dynamax gimmick isn't as popular as the Mega Evolution or Z-Move gimmicks that preceded it, some players are really annoyed that EXP Share is now mandatory, and it took two waves of pricey DLC before it had good enough post-game content compared to most of its predecessors.
@stromz This is all true (personally, I'm really glad that I waited until the Ultra versions came out before buying a Gen 7 game), but the only part that actually matters is that US/UM are better standalone games.
The better game should still be rated better (or at least the same) no matter how much of a lazy sequel it is
(Likewise, BD/SP should be rated higher than the original D/P, even after accounting for system differences, but lower than Platinum. Replacing the HMs with PokéRides and increasing the battle speed to a modern level alone made the remakes better games compared to the originals.)
@Specter_of-the_OLED Technically, it didn't, since the first NES game isn't a beat 'em up.
However, you really missed out, as "TMNT III: The Manhattan Project" is one of the very best NES games ever made and even outshines "Hyperstone Heist" on the Genesis in some ways!
@Degenerate_Mii Why? Nickelodeon gave us that awesome 2012 series, put some of the characters in "Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl," and now helped make this possible. I'd say they're doing a pretty good job with the license.
@Mikmoomamimocki Actually, there have two previous re-releases of "Turtles in Time." There's the "Reshelled" remaster on PS3/X360, although we don't like to talk about that one. However, the arcade version of "Turtles in Time" is unlockable in the 3rd TMNT game for the GameCube.
I just don't think such survival horror mechanics belong in Metroid at all. It's like they took the worst thing about "Metroid Fusion" and made it even worse.
Yes, Metroid games have always had an eerie atmosphere where you're basically fighting against the entire environment, but the series (at least to me) is still much more about patient exploration and action-platforming rather than stealth, jump scares, or fast-paced escape sequences (aside from the traditional endgame segments in the latter case).
The EMMIs are why I have no intention of ever playing "Dread" and settled for watching a Let's Play series of it.
No, designing the game like this around fixed camera angles is much preferable to camera control as long as Nintendo continues to stupidly use completely manual cameras over good automatic cameras in its 3D third person first party games. (Monolith Soft is second party and the only Nintendo studio who does it right.)
@LEGEND_MARIOID "Lego Batman 2" is great...except for all the times you need to go anywhere in Gotham City itself. The game has one of the worst open worlds you'll ever find!
@Stnkygrngo That's just one reason why you shouldn't live with your significant other until you get married. Sure, you could still potentially get divorced, but even in that case at least asset division is more regulated and legally binding.
@Ichiban They tried that with the GameCube, and it didn't work. Why didn't it work? Because the PS2 had better features with online play and doubling as a DVD player. Ever since then, Nintendo has gone with features over specs, and it's worked every time save for the Wii U.
The bug fixes are great, but did they have to rollback the actual improvement they made to the emulation (the lack of fog that was no longer needed to mask technical shortcomings) just to match the original experience? If Sony brought back emulated versions of original PlayStation games that no longer had long loading screens, would people also complain about that not matching the original experience?
@SportyMarioSonicMix 1) Each mode has a campaign of a sort. However, if you fail a single mission, you have to start over from the beginning. This version does have the Restore Point to help with that, though.
2) Each mode has 3 missions.
3) That's hard to say. Probably no more than a hour at most, maybe a little longer if you keep needing to retry harder missions using the Restore Point.
4) Each mode has 3 difficulty levels.
5) Almost none of the Virtual Console games have their potential multiplayer modes left in, as it's not worth it to Nintendo to spend extra time and money on a workaround on the 3DS for the Game Boy's link cable for each of those games.
6) It takes up 35 blocks of memory. As you can see on this very page, it costs $2.99 US and £2.70.
7) I gave it 8/10 for being one of the better computerized Battleship games out there while also having another fun, albeit limited, mode on top of that.
@Haruki_NLI I suppose a lawful assault would be something like a spanking, although that's still an oxymoron, since "assault" by definition is considered a crime.
@Roam85 facepalm Even if that could work (which I highly doubt), hardly anybody is going to buy an extra Switch just to play a few Wii U ports. While some people do already have multiple Switches in their homes, that audience is nowhere near what is needed to make money on such theoretical ports.
@eduscxbox Unlike the Wii/GC and Wii U/Wii backwards compatibility, due to the different system architectures, the Wii U would need to be emulated. But due to the way emulation works, it's impossible to emulate a system just one generation older onto the current system.
@AlienX Hey, "Lost World" is one of the better Sonic games in recent years! The 3D levels are awesome, and it finally brought back the excellent Adventure-style 3D gameplay to great effect.
Now it does still have major issues with the 2D levels and the boss fights, but the same can be at least be said for a number of other recent Sonic games as well. Heck, even "Colors," one of the more celebrated recent Sonic games, also has terrible 2D gameplay, while its Unleashed-style 3D gameplay (and the stupid time limit on using the Cyan Wisp) is inferior to "Lost World."
@iLikeUrAttitude Exactly! Why do people keep ignoring that XCX relies too much on having constant access to the map on the GamePad?! Sure, you could put the map on a pause screen or something, but it would be a terrible downgrade to near constantly need to pause the game to check and use the map functions, and that's before even bringing up how awkward using the map would then be in docked mode without touch controls.
So a port of XCX could technically happen, but it would be an even more downgraded version of the game compared to the original than even the "Zelda: Skyward Sword" port with its crummy controls. At least with Zelda it will still sell anyway, but it's too risky with a more niche series like Xenoblade.
"Wii Sports Switch" is a sequel, not a port or remaster! Sure, it brings back Tennis and Bowling, but the rest of the games are completely different, so it's not redundant enough compared to the previous game like why "Super Smash Bros. for Wii U" wasn't included. (Plus, Bowling was also in "Wii Sports Resort," as well.) If you count this, then you might as well take "Xenoblade Chronicles X" off the list, since the Switch already has all the other Xenoblade games.
@BombchuPwned True, but access to about half of the DSiWare games have already been lost (and with no warning when it happened ), so that would be a pretty awkward list.
@Ogbert Well, the one major difference is that you can't buy used copies of digital games. Even if you were to buy a memory card with the game on it, the system won't let you play it if you haven't bought the game on your Nintendo account.
@victordamazio Technically, those kinds of laws already exist. The issue is that it takes nearly a century for things to fall into the public domain, which is fine for books, songs, TV shows, and movies that are usually easily reprinted or otherwise made available again with decent demand, but there are major compatibility issues with many non-current computer and video games to where only the most popular ones can afford to be ported, remastered, or remade.
I would fully support an "abandonware" modification to copyright law for electronic games (while used game stores could still get by with retro collectors along with more recent games, CDs, DVDs/Blu-Rays, comics, etc.) that allow them to fall into the public domain after only a couple of decades or so without being sold, but I don't think the average Congressman/Senator cares enough about the issue to support such a change. We may have to wait until the large majority of Congress consists of people young enough to have grown up with computer/video games.
@Savino First of all, anyone who has already purchased the games can still access and play them all they want. They just need to keep their data backed up in case of a lost/stolen/broken system.
Second, just because you can no longer buy something doesn't give you the right to illegally obtain it for free. Just accept that you have to do without it.
@MrGawain As someone from Missouri, I refute the idea that we don't have pretty much the same kind of generic accents you hear most American actors use. In fact, U.S. national news broadcasters often come from the midwest region (not counting the northern midwest), since we generally have the most neutral American accents.
Well, at least in the northern 2/3rds of Missouri...
@valharian Not really. There aren't as many important differences between the different variations of English as there are between European and Latin American Spanish, and several of the differences that do exist are either mostly common knowledge among English speakers and/or easily figured out from context. That's why most media works stick with a single English language track.
@Mattock1987 What are you talking about?! American English speakers only raise an inflection at the end of sentences to indicate a question or that they're less than sure about their response, just like every other English speaking country. How would we differentiate between statements and questions with the same sentence structures in spoken English if we were using that inflection all the time?
@JJ_Brum Yeah, even the Imperial and First Order officers and the occasional Jedi in Star Wars have British accents. They give fantasy and sci-fi works a certain extra flair.
@Magician That's because most English speaking gamers much prefer an English dub of some kind over being required to read subtitles, so the extra expense is very well worth it. This isn't like anime where a significant portion of the viewership are sub snobs, and it's not financially viable to dub the less popular and more niche series.
@iLikeUrAttitude How is it unacceptable to use still in development graphics in a trailer? As such, the final product probably will look significantly better.
@Anti-Matter Well, I got a version of the game with just as much content that is almost entirely in my 3DS memory that I'm still playing these days and haven't had to pay a dime. I call that a win.
As I said, with the right kind of structure, it's easily worth giving up a few minor concessions to play a game for absolutely free.
@Anti-Matter There are some free-to-play games that do (eventually) provide all the content without needing to pay and can mostly be played offline like "Pokémon Shuffle" and "Pokémon Rumble World."
They're still digital downloads that will someday have their online components disabled (although most of the content will still be playable), and there's the potential possibility of losing access to them if your 3DS dies or gets lost/stolen someday after the eShop has shut down (since you can't backup the data of 3DS games with online connectivity), but then again they're free, so you still haven't really lost much there, especially if you've already obtained 100% completion by then.
We'll have to wait and see where on the free-to-play spectrum this game falls...
@MarzipanD No, it's not! Cricket has never been in the Olympics save for the very first modern games, nor has there ever been a World Cricket Classic. While cricket is more popular in Europe, India, and Australia; it's overall following is behind baseball, which is popular in most of the Western Hemisphere, Japan, and South Korea.
Yes, American (or Canadian) football doesn't have much of a presence outside of North America, but baseball is a true international sport and overall one of the most popular team sports in the world (although soccer is of course the most popular in that regard).
@Troll_Decimator Technically, the original release from 10 years ago already got 2 packs of DLC. This is specifically for the "Deluxe" version that was released less than 5 years ago.
@Ryu_Niiyama Fine, most people don't like the second game. You may be in the small minority there, but they'd never make a profit trying to bring back a mostly disliked game.
Besides, you didn't actually give a real reason as to why you wanted it. Just because a sequel exists isn't a good reason to bring it back if it sucks.
@AlienX The reasoning is as I've already mentioned: the Wii version has the excellent motion controls that make the game so much fun to play, and it actually has more content than the other versions rather than less.
@Ryu_Niiyama Yes, the second game that nobody likes and left a lot of plot questions that were never resolved and never will be after the canon reset. The only good thing it has going for it is allowing you to choose to replay any level you've beaten whenever you want.
@PixelTavern @Brady1138 @sleepinglion @SuperToadie @blindsquarel No, the Wii version was always the best one!
Obviously, they're using the Wii version, since it's already designed around motion controls, and the excellent motion controls was the main reason the Wii version was superior in the first place despite the downgraded graphics and physics, stuff that will be significantly improved with this remaster anyway.
Besides, the Wii version has an extra level that was never added to the other versions, has an cool exclusive multiplayer mode that they're bringing back, and the extremely frustrating part where you pull down a Star Destroyer in the other versions is relegated to a cutscene in the Wii version.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Is Coming To Switch This April, Pre-Orders Now Live
@Ryu_Niiyama Why would you want the second game?! The sequel absolutely sucks!
