@RainbowGazelle Sigh. I’m trying to tell you she is going about it, because you DID say that she should be doing it, implying that she wasn’t....oh the mental gymnastics at play in these comments.
@RainbowGazelle She is standing in solidarity with other voice actors who are not getting paid enough for their talents. If you got your news from even at least one other site besides this echo chamber, you would know that detail.
@xjulianvel Funny, when I discuss this in non-Nintendo forums, the overall consensus is to boycott, and people show much more compassion towards her situation. But the users on this site seem hell-bent on buying the game, almost out of spite at this point. Curious behavior, but not surprising.
I've boycotted Nintendo products in general, so Bayonetta falls under that category. Yes. This counts as a boycott. I hope the VA gets new work that pays what she is worth.
@AstroTheGamosian I miss the days of super short anime adaptations of games. Wizardry and Ninja Gaiden are particularly good. Easy to find on YouTube too!
@Ulysses It’s a team effort. If one part of the machine is missing, it doesn’t work. I appreciate dev work but I’m also not naive enough to think they are the only people putting in their effort to create a gaming experience.
@steely_pete Game boycotts are all about the individual. I’ve been boycotting Ubisoft, EA, Blizzard, Nintendo, and a handful of others and I feel good knowing I’m not contributing any money towards them. I know it doesn’t hurt their bottom line, but the point is that I’m not kept up by any of the negativity they bring.
@NeonPizza Indeed! Though, my living room is basically weightlifting equipment and a desk for the PC. The rest is left empty for martial arts training.
@NeonPizza The way the windows are set up in here, even a 55" won't fit! I'm really happy with my gaming set up though, so no need to go bigger. VR makes me nauseous
@NeonPizza I don't think I have a single wall large enough to accommodate a TV of that size! It would look hilarious in my small apartment. Glad you get a kick out of it, must be amazing
@NeonPizza Exactly this. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the RG351V. I feel that covers portability nicely. But I mainly game on a PC with a 32” monitor, so I agree with you on that regard. What’s it like gaming on a monitor double that size?!
Everyone that really wants Nintendo’s next gen console has to think deeply about the fact that they will close the Switch eShop to force everyone to transition to the new hardware. Just par for the course with this company. If they surprise me and embrace legacy games/backwards compatibility in something other than a shoddy subscription service I’ll eat my words. Looking at their history though, they seem to hate leaving their eShops open.
@Anachronism I'm not even talking about naming them their own genre. I'm saying, I enjoyed the unique experience that Dark Souls gave me. No other game will be able to replicate it, even if they just use a bonfire and a "pick up your stuff" mechanic. They're missing the "soul" of Dark Souls, to be cliché. Why are you arguing about my own personal preference? lol
@Anachronism I would argue that Hollow Knight and Blasphemous are nothing like Dark Souls, which is great. Don't labor too hard on this. I'm saying that I prefer it when games try to do their own thing, as opposed to copy each element of Dark Souls or any other game, for that matter. If they are compared to Dark Souls, I skip them because I know they are just trying to copy-cat a unique experience. The reason I enjoy the games I play is because there are no other experiences like them. Like I said, no need to labor over this point.
@Anachronism Thats the thing though. I don’t want that. Look at Mario vs Sonic. Yes, Sonic was clearly inspired by Mario, but it did everything so wildly different that it was able to set itself apart. Inspiration certainly is one thing, but I don’t want every game I play to be Dark Souls.
Whenever a game is compared to Dark Souls, I immediately pass them up these days. I haven’t played a game to date that has been remotely similar, especially the 2D offerings. It’s ok to let these things stand on their own.
@Wexter I don't see too many downsides to owning a Steam Deck, other than potential hardware failure. The price is extremely fair for what you get. All models can play my entire Steam/PC library and it costs half of what I paid for my gaming laptop of similar specs 4 years ago. I see a lot of downsides to owning a Switch. In particular, I don't like supporting companies with practices that recent-Nintendo has been engaging in, so I noped out. I also don't like the compromises I was constantly having to make with many Switch ports, such as long load times, texture pop-in, performance issues, high pricing for old ports, etc. Not a fan!
The reason these prices exist, are because there are people willing to pay out for them. Don't blame the company; they can set whatever price they like. But they will REPEAT the behavior, if people buy.
@Wexter What's the point in arguing storage when on both systems, you can solve it with an SD card? Are the Switch die-hards really that hard pressed for confirming their brand loyalty?
@Wexter Sounds like you have that part backwards. It costs more to manufacture carts than distribute digital assets. As for the customer, they have to buy what, a single micro SD card? So? You have to do the exact same on the Switch if you hope to make use of it, unless you're a die-hard physical collector. Then you have to pay elevated costs for games, because lord knows Nintendo rarely, if ever, puts their games on sale. Meanwhile, I got Sekiro for $12 on the recent Steam sale. SEKIRO. $12. You'll rarely see games of that caliber on the Switch, first off, and if a game like that is on that console, good luck waiting for a sale.
@Astral-Grain Dude no! You're fine. And I was just about to reply to you because wow, you're fighting a good fight! It feels like in the evening, more people are trying to swat you down, but you've got the moves!
And it's HILARIOUS that so many people cannot see the difference between emulation and ROM pirating. They are totally different things, and it feels like the more you try to explain it, the more it bounces off the frontal lobe!
@MichaelBurns Exactly the right take on this subject. Anyone else that is talking this nonsense about piracy on the Steam Deck is trolling, hard. Nobody in their right mind would clutch onto a Nintendo Switch unless they are REALLY die-hard for the exclusives. We literally have a better handheld option, now. EVEN without the prospect of emulation, the Steam library is decades deep. Mario Odyssey on the go? Pff. ELDEN RING on the go!!!! And other such things.
