Re: Wonderful 101 Kickstarter Backers Hit With Customs Charges And Handling Fees

Bisylizzie

@RazumikhinPG As I said, The Yetee don't have the resources available to be able to offer that as a service - to do so, they'd have to partner with another company. But, in theory, if they had been able to do that, then yes, backers wouldn't have to pay the handling fees, and the VAT you'd have to pay would be added to make up a new shipping cost (again, as said, when you buy from a UK retailer, the VAT is added into the price you'll pay the store).
As for the US version thing, I'd assume that all backer versions are the exact same version (unless they did a survey to find out what versions people wanted), so it wouldn't matter where they shipped from, or just all being made in the same factory, and then all shipped together to save on costs going from the factories to the fulfilment center.

Re: Wonderful 101 Kickstarter Backers Hit With Customs Charges And Handling Fees

Bisylizzie

@RazumikhinPG I'll guess that this is down to their fulfilment partner, The Yetee. As far as I'm aware, they don't have other distribution centers, UK or Europe or otherwise, that would be able to do this, so can only send straight from the US, which then ends up incurring the customs fees. The customs fee is the 20% VAT that ends up becoming part of the price/RRP that the UK retailers will charge (the handling fee is an extra charge from the courier, "to help cover the cost of additional handling, administration, collection of monies and provision of facilities for Customs clearance of packages." - as customs clearance is not needed from getting the item from the retailer to you, because you're already paying the VAT in the item's price, that's why you don't pay it on items that are just going from one UK address to another)

Re: Wonderful 101 Kickstarter Backers Hit With Customs Charges And Handling Fees

Bisylizzie

I didn't back this project (but have backed other projects that shipped from the US), and I always made a note to find out for myself whether extra fees would be incurred (and how much they might turn out to be). It's hard to put the blame on either side, yes Platinum/Yetee should've mentioned it sooner, but backers shouldn't have gone in assuming they wouldn't have to pay anything more. Maybe Platinum could've offered a delivery option which came with the fees prepaid, but I don't know if Yetee offer prepaid delivery, or how much it'd add to the shipping prices (and, whether people would still back, even with increased prices, but knowing that the extra fees would already be sorted).

Re: Wonderful 101 Kickstarter Backers Hit With Customs Charges And Handling Fees

Bisylizzie

@Bensei
Yes. If the item is marked as a gift and the total price of the item and shipping is over £39, then the 20% VAT + courier handling fee applies. If the item is marked as goods, then the threshold is only £16. And, in a way, by choosing a reward tier which comes with physical products, you are "buying" it. Sure, the shipper (Yetee, in this case, it looks like) could undervalue or mark as a gift, but the volume/if they have their logo on shipping labels/etc could raise a few eyebrows as they go through customs, so it's safer for them to mark everything as goods/the real value (I think companies can be fined for not declaring or, if something goes wrong with the shipment, the buyer won't be able to get the full cover on the items).

Re: Nintendo Reiterates Plans For Animal Crossing: New Horizons Save Data Workarounds

Bisylizzie

@Friendly Yeah, other than some games with quirks (Splatoon 2 uses different saves and servers for each region's copy, Superbeat XONIC has different names in the US and Europe so counts as two different games, for example), for the most part, all versions are the "same". I know with ACNH, I own the digital UK/PAL version, and it won't let me buy the US/JPN digital versions, so I'd assume they'd all use the same save file.

Re: Pokémon Sun And Moon's Global Link Service Will Be Shut Down In February 2020

Bisylizzie

It's just the Global Link functionality that's closing, not all the online functions. That means stuff like the online battle competitions, the global missions and possibly the battle spot that lets you battle random people.
Wonder Trade, GTS and connecting to specific people to battle and trade will still be fine, just like it is in XYORAS which had its Global Link functions closed a few years ago

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Won't Have Direct Connectivity With The Mobile Entry Pocket Camp

Bisylizzie

Not a huge deal, would be nice to have some sort of bonus for having played/kept up, but it's fine.

What I really want, Pocket Camp-wise, is all the new items that have made their introduction in it to be in New Horizons. There's so many cool items in there, especially if it means more of the Splatoon/Pokémon/etc collab items.
Also, the animals being able to interact with items like they do in PC, it's fun to see them sitting and eating, or actually playing the instruments/holding items... And animals being able to wear accessories. And the back accessories (though I think this has already been spotted?)

Re: Nintendo Download: 28th March (Europe)

Bisylizzie

MUSYNX! Finally!

Well, other than the fact that I already imported the US Physical release last year. Could grab it digital for the sake of having it on my console all the time, I guess? Hopefully they release another set of songs for it soon...
EDIT: And I just looked at their Twitter, and a bunch more just got added, so I better go grab that patch!

Re: Japanese Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu And Eevee Pre-Orders Include Figures And Exclusive Art Book

Bisylizzie

I think the UK preorder bonus is a bit meh - even if we couldn't have figures, I'd rather have the better plush keychains that the US is getting... With Grainger gone, there's likely not going to be another preorder bonus available... Looks like GAME and Argos are each getting one of the two keychains that're available through the Nintendo store, so that's really both the stores that usually get bonuses accounted for...

Re: Mario Kart VR Will Launch In The UK This Summer

Bisylizzie

With luck, either Bandai Namco expand their VR ZONE locations to more places, or places that aren't the VR ZONEs will get a chance at these... I think my "local" is Leeds, but if their P'Boro location got the VR stuff, that'd be better to try and angle a trip over to...

Re: These Lovely Smartphone Cases Are Now Available Via My Nintendo, But Only In Japan

Bisylizzie

It'd be neat if they'd put phone cases on the other Nintendo Stores, given it's not much different from them selling plushies/clothing/etc there anyway...
(Also, it's not a "pay 50 gold coins, get the case" dealio, in case anyone's reading it that way, the 50 gold coins is just for a 30% off voucher for the cases, still gotta pay however much the rest of the case is, plus the shipping... Either way, still would be neat if they had a similar offering and vouchers available elsewhere)

Re: Pokémon Happy Meals Are Coming To McDonald's In The UK

Bisylizzie

Based on it being 16 toys across all/most generations... I assume that means we're getting the 2016 toy/card release (https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/2016_McDonald%27s_promotional_Pok%C3%A9mon_toys)... Or could end up being a mashup of multiple years' toys/cards, given we've not had Pokemon in Happy Meals for years...

Re: Poll: A Retro Quest - Were You Able to Buy a Super NES Classic Edition / SNES Mini?

Bisylizzie

I managed to nab a preorder when Smyths opened their first round... Wasn't completely sure if I wanted it at the time, but figured if I could get a preorder in, I'd have a couple months to muse over it. Still wasn't sure up to about last week, but decided to let the order complete anyway, as I had the money spare.
Once it shipped, though, that's when I got real excited for it, and then it arrived on Thursday, and I played various games for a few hours that night (both single player, and with a sibling)!
I've never played a SNES before, and only played little bits of a few of the games there (Got FF6 on PSN, had SMRPG and Earthbound on other consoles I no longer have access to... LTTP and Yoshi I have played longer, due to having owned the GBA versions). Am most excited for the JRPGs, but been giving the other games a try, in case I find something I quite like...
Might have to see if I can get ahold of a Mini NES if they get a restock, would be nice to have the two together~

Re: Guide: All The Splatoon 2 amiibo Unlocks

Bisylizzie

@IKAY
I could have the levels wrong, as I only scanned them twice, once at about Level 4 and only got the one item, then Level 9 when I got both others, so it's possible that I'm wrong on the exact levels.
Apparently each unlocks a piece of music as well, but not unlocked them yet (though, I'm still only Level 9, as I've been addicted to the Salmon Run mode and neglected Turf War)

Re: Guide: All The Splatoon 2 amiibo Unlocks

Bisylizzie

@ Everyone asking how to get all the gear
I believe it's the headpiece at Level 1, torso piece at ~Level 6 and footwear at Level 9.
If you're Level 9 (or higher) already, scanning an amiibo will give all three items in one go.

Re: Review: Skylanders Imaginators (Switch)

Bisylizzie

@rjejr
The scanning to save is for when you want to play them in another game/on another console - otherwise, you're fine scanning them the initial time to add them to the collection, and just going through the list to choose who you want to be at any moment if you're only playing the Switch version. It's a manual choice to save (talking to an NPC), rather than forcing you to save to the figure if you want to keep using it.
As for the SWAP guys - because the reader on the controller(s) can only read one figure at a time, they read the bottom half of the character, and add both halves to the collection at Level 20, with no gold and no upgrades (also, you can't save the data back to their figures), but there is a SWAP menu so you can mix and match the top and bottom halves still.
Also, on the subject of the other bits like the anvil, I believe they don't actually do anything in any of the Imaginators games anymore (except add some money the first time they're placed/counting in the collection)

Also, on the total figures, I've heard you can add every figure, plus multiples of each if wanted.

Re: Reminder: The Shiny Yveltal Distribution is Now Available in North America

Bisylizzie

@GH05T
I don't think so - Yveltal's been given out as a serial code at an event in Spain, and Xerneas is currently being given out, as a serial code, at Gamestop stores in Sweden, Norway and Finland (they get Darkrai at BR Stores) - if they're going through the effort of having them as serial codes for some countries, they'd probably end up being serial codes in ~all~ of Europe.

Re: Some Unlucky Fire Emblem Fates Customer Have Their Special Edition Pre-Orders Cancelled

Bisylizzie

@Ogbert
Already asked!

They said...
"With regards to your query, regrettably cannot action any changes to your order, as we are unable to do so, once it has been placed on our Online Store.
We can confirm that your order is currently still being processed by our team and that any payments on your order, will not be taken until your order is dispatched.
However, we offer to you, the following options:
1) You can leave your order as it is and wait for payment to be taken from the current card details you have input. However, your order may be delayed if the payment does not clear. We will of course contact you in the event that this happens, so that you can resolve any payment problems to enable us to proceed with your order
2) Cancel your order and place it again through our Online Store, ensuring that you have input the correct information (such as the delivery address and card details), selected the correct item(s) or chosen payment method before completing your order
Please also note, that any products, offers, discounts or promotions may not be available should your order be cancelled. Therefore, we highly recommend for you to review your order before proceeding with any cancellation, as upon this request being processed, we would be unable to re-instate it."

There was also a bit about how they can't change payment details if you used Paypal, but I didn't choose that method, so left it out...
I'm had assumed, though, from the first point, I ~may~ be able to choose a new card if the payment fails... But, taking a moment to think about it now, maybe I ~am~ gonna be out of luck with it... Which'd be a shame, especially after managing to catch their preorder...
